Sanguine: (The Fate of the Fallen #7) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 64 ratings

In the epic conclusion of the Fate of the Fallen series, the stage has been set for a revolution.

After the Council’s lack of reaction to the assassination of one of their own, the rebels grow bolder — and if they truly allow supes to join their ranks, they might be able to achieve the impossible. Hope has been rekindled, and nowhere has it been stronger than with the son of the former rebellion leader, Noah Franklin. Will he and his vampire sire Khaz throw in for more than a night, or will they choose to isolate themselves from what might still be a futile cause?

Werewolf Reese’s allegiance to Elias Ivers has compromised his own desires to aid the rebellion, along with his disapproval of their “take no prisoners” approach. He and his claimed humans, Ashton and Leo, have different agendas, but can they come together in a time of need?

Newly-ascended Elder Elias Ivers has a target on his back — and it’s not only from sympathizers and rebels. Even those amongst his own ranks are loath to accept him, and he finds that taking control is not as easy as he’d thought. With his werewolf pet, Jace, at his side, can he show the Council what it truly is to rule? Humans have fought for a decade to regain their freedom, and now, the time has come to reclaim it.

The restlessness and strife among the vampires, witches, and werewolves who rule over humanity leaves them a unique opening… if they can only figure out how to take advantage of it.

Sanguine is not a standalone. It also contains significant spoilers for the Need Trilogy. For the most part, I’ve done my best to avoid spoilers across the Fate of the Fallen world, but the Need Trilogy goes hand-in-hand with the series's story.

R. Phoenix (code name: Raissa) has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, humor and pain, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes love can corrupt, power can redeem and that the best of intentions can cast shadows while the worst can create light. She agrees with those who say that the truth is best told through fiction — even though fiction has to make sense while reality can be utterly baffling.

Her dark paranormal books explore a world where humanity has become prey, subjugated by “supes” — vampires, werewolves, and witches — who have seized control. They range from romance to dark erotica to horror and everything in between, exploring different aspects of the Fate of the Fallen universe. She’s even published something she calls “playful dark erotica.”

Her tendency to explore dark topics isn’t limited to a supernatural world. Her contemporary romance, Too Close, deals with the difficult topic of domestic violence. She is passionate about the need for greater awareness and understanding of an issue that’s often misunderstood.

She loves chatting with readers, though she often awkwardly rambles. No matter how much she tries to keep her bad and often perverted sense of humor in check, it seems to escape at the most inconvenient moments. (Thanks, universe.) Feel free to friend Raissa on Facebook and chat or send her an email!

Finally things were coming together, loose ends starting to gather and the book had some really good parts. Desi rose up to be a favourite here, just the way she acted to Jace, gave me hope she would manage to break through to him.

I had been wondering what Julian had wanted but couldn't have, and this answered the question. I don't like Elias by far but what could have been. He might have done less damage.

Nothing was sweeter than reading about Khaz and Noah, letting them have some sort of ending, though I'd like to know more about Khaz and his sire and how Elias fit in to it.

I found myself wanting more from this book, it felt a bit rushed at the end. With Ash leaving Reese, having it unresolved and the shock, at least for me, about Leo. It was all sudden.
Had Reese gotten revenge for the death of his lover? It's all speculations.

I wanted more and I hope we will be indulged and get proper endings for the chars we've followed through these books.

This was such a good book. It is the end of the series. It was really bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters that I love so much. Some of the endings I liked, some others not so much, but as a whole thing, I was please with how everything went.

The plot is amazing. There are a lot of twist and turns. Definitely unexpected, which is something that I loved. It had mystery, action and romance. A little bit of everything in paranormal world that has made me love the genre. It still have some of the dark themes that I loved from the start but in this instalment is a little tone down. It had a great connection with some others series in the same world. For which I would recommend to read them before reading this book.

One of the things I liked the most about the book, is the place given to women in the story. I loved the women that take some part on it. It was great to read about such characters and I wouldn’t mind to know more of them. As for the main characters, it is truly sad to say goodbye to them. I loved every single one of them for different reasons. Even the ones that I didn’t liked that much, had an interesting story to tell. It’s been a joy to read, not only thins book but the whole story.

Of course, I couldn’t love it all. There are some endings that, as I have my favorites, didn’t quite bring me the satisfaction I would expect. But I know every reader can’t be please and even if I’m not happy with every characters ending. I do believe it worked well for the story. Definitely a recommended book, after reading the previous instalments on the series.

    Epic conclusion... Or is it?
This was a wild ride, questions were answered, loose ends tied up. It has everything from some super sweet moments, to some nail biting scenes where you can't read fast enough because you need to know what happens next.
It's hard to write a review that is spoiler free, but everything I say right now is just going to ruin everything. If you loved the previous books in the series, this one will blow you away. Well worth the wait. Brava, RP. Brava

Sigh... I had really hoped/expected to love this book, especially after reading people's reactions on FB. But... it wasn't what I had hoped it would be.

I guess I expected a little bit more out of this book, it being the end of the series and all. What happened as a result of the rebels attack seemed... too easy I guess. I had expected more of a fight, more of an epic conclusion to the strife humans face in this world. I had expected more as vampires and werewolves joined the rebellion to fight the Status Quo.

There are a lot of loose ends, especially with a certain werewolf, his lover, and the lover's friend. I really wanted to find out what happens between them, but no, we're left hanging.

I guess one good thing is that the ending hints at more to possibly come, which leaves me hoping for more of a real conclusion to it all.

A great end to the series that brings some kind of conclusion to the stories of all the MCs of the series. I loved it and I really hope is just an end for now.

I think this might be my favorite book of this series. I read it one sitting and, hopefully, it is only the end for now.

Sanguine is the seventh book in the The Fate of the Fallen series by R. Phoenix and concludes this dark, twisted but addicting saga. Some things are resolved while others left room for a revisit in the future perhaps. The book is well written, the characters wonderfully crafted and the world uniquely created within this series and this book does not disappoint in its delivery of a satisfying ending to this story arc. I really feel like this was the best book of the series.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This book is fantastic, raw, gritty, intense, kinky, and wild. Filled with plots, counter plots, revenge, sacrifice, pain, loyalty, war, plans within plans within plans within plans within plans, cruelty, deceit, horror, and where nothing and no one is what they appear to be. This is one hell of an awesome story. The unexpected ending caught me by complete surprise, and hinted at possibilities. One click this marvelous masterpiece ASAP!!

Blood soaked and brutal, the end for now of this series is perfect.

Imriel and Draven are beautiful together. Callia’s voyeurism, sad to read as she contemplates her immortality and where their new world needs to head next.

Desi’s prophecies continue to haunt her nightmares. The dynamic between herself, Elias and Julian, throw in Nyla, everything falls into place.

Reese, Ash and Leo combust with too many secrets.

Jace comes into his own again, finally. “Blood was everything — maddening, chaotic, disastrous.” Need to see where it leads next.

Read the content warnings. This a actually a dark read, well written and such a pleasure to catch up on again.

Wow totally amazing. Absolutely loved the final book Sanguine. R. Phoenix has a brilliant mind with her writing for this world of Fate of the Fallen. Each and every book has had me hooked and this series in particular has provided not only fantastic reading but some of the best debates ever. I cant say enough about this series. Sanguine was a fantastic end and gave me many answers as well as still some caution for possibly future books. But has also left me in an extremely happy place . Congratulations R Phoenix cause brilliant!!!!!!!!!
