Saving Brad: An Enemies to Lovers Stand-alone Romance (The Kennedy Boys® Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,709 ratings

An enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today & WSJ bestselling author Siobhan Davis. Stand-alone with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

Brad
I’m in love with my best friend’s girl.
She knows it. He knows it.
Everyone knows it.
Faye will never be mine, but try telling that to my stupid heart.
An endless rotation of girls streams in and out of my bedroom in a desperate attempt to forget her, but nothing eases the horrid ache in my chest. Rejection isn’t anything new for me, but it hasn’t gotten any easier.
Until
she reappears in my life. Like an out-of-control tornado. Storming in, all fierce and angry, ready to steamroll everything in her path. Rachel is trouble with a capital T bundled in a gorgeous, sexy, Irish package.
She pushes all the wrong buttons, and I can’t decide if I want to yell at her or kiss her. I should steer clear.
But I’ve never been very good at taking my own advice. Especially when it comes to girls I can’t have and shouldn’t want.

Rachel
I need to escape. To put as much distance between me and that monster so I can start living my life.
Yet, even the vast Atlantic Ocean isn’t enough to sever the connection. To allow me to forget how he’s ruined me. His hold is more than just physical. He has a vise grip on my head and my heart, and I can’t breathe, can’t think, can’t function.
So, I do everything to blot it out.
Until
he reappears in my life.
Brad McConaughey. So hot. So infuriating. So in love with my best friend.
Every word out of Brad’s mouth makes me want to throat punch him or kick him in the nuts.
But he makes me feel, and I hate him for it. A part of me might actually love him for it.
I should keep my distance, but like destructive magnets, we are drawn together.
This isn’t going to end well.
I know it. He knows it.
But we’re powerless to resist.

While you don't need to read the first four books in this series to enjoy Saving Brad, it is highly recommended. This book is recommended for readers aged eighteen and older due to mature content and language. Refer to the content warning list on the author's website.

This read really really got to me with everything that all the characters have been going through and the way it all comes out, playing on every emotion I have. Brad is a man wh***, an a**, hurting people all around him with his words and actions. But there is a reason and during the first half of the book, I had wanted to shake him, slap him, punch him, until you get to the root of his behaviour. Unfortunately Rachel is the punching bag to many of his hurtful and callous words and actions, but she is strong and has built a wall around her, not showing her hurt and moving forward.
Brad is supposedly in love with his best friend’s girl and that girl is best friend’s with Rachel. A love triangle all around and Rachel refuses to be with Brad more than a hook up or develop feelings for him because she won’t be second choice. It all comes to a head one day between Brad and Ky and because they are roommates it has Ky move in with his g.f. Faye and Rachel who is Faye’s roommate moving in with Brad. As Brad and Rachel come to an understanding that they are just friends with no benefits so their living arrangement can work but being close everyday reeks havoc on both of them, as they are attracted to each other and they can’t forget the steamy times they have shared in the past. But Rachel is afraid of something or someone and it’s Brad that she turns to when her past comes colliding with her present.
There are so many emotions and different conflicts going on and even though the story is long, there is not one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one page that is unnecessary. There’s Brad struggle with his infactuation with Faye, his relationship with Ky, his mother and sisters and of course his confusing feelings for Rachel. Then there’s Rachel who is in between the love triangle, dealing with her past and trying to start over, and fighting her feelings for Brad while being there to support him.
There were many times during the last half of this read when Brad finally comes to his senses and when we find out Rachel’s secret that I had to put the book down and take a deep breath to continue. Then there were the times when I had to put it down to wipe my tears because I couldn’t see the pages they were so blurry. Then there were the times I was so angry I had to put my kindle down so I didn’t throw it.
The strength and the courage that Rachel has and being able to offer her support and compassion to her friends when they need it after everything she has been through and going through....WOW just WOW.
This story was unbelievably emotional for me and it goes to the writing talent of this author to be able to provoke all the emotions and reactions above that I had to buy the book even though I received an ARC to show my support as I was in awe of this read.

Saving Brad is the fifth book in the The Kennedy Boys series, but it can be read as a standalone. I had been itching to read Brad's book since I knew he was getting his own and Siobhan did not disappoint in any way.

I will do my best to not give any important details away. Brad is an honorary Kennedy since he and Kyler have been best friends since they were practically in diapers. He then becomes the third wheel in Ky and Faye's relationship and ends up at one point pretending to be Faye's boyfriend, which in turn causes Brad to fall for Faye. And yes, that causes some very tumultuous problems between all three of them. However, they've all tried to remain friends throughout it all, despite Brad's issue of moving past Faye.

Rachel is Faye's best friend from back home in Ireland. Rachel and Brad met before and apparently had a very hot one night together. But neither was looking for more and both went their own ways, never expecting to really be around the other again, til now. Til Rachel decides to transfer to the states and move here permanently.

These two will give you whiplash (in the best way) with how the deal with one another. They are trying to move on from their pasts and start anew, and doing it all without having to deal with any sort of relationship too. HA! These two are so damn attracted to one another, it's surprising they never start fires when they are together.

Siobhan does a great job of telling each of their stories and how they got to where they today in such a great way. I know that sounds so confusing, but both Brad and Rachel each have their own problems they are trying to overcome and they are on two completely different spectrums of heavy sh*t to deal with. Yet, when Siobhan is writing about each of their unique story lines within this book, it is never confusing and you still feel a great deal for the two of them; you understand what they are going through and rooting for them both as individuals and together as a couple.

All in all, Siobhan writes another amazing story in this series and has me loving the whole thing, start to finish. And now she has me anxiously waiting for Kaden's book - more so than I was when I started this series.

Brad is in love with Faye despite the fact that she is in love with his best friend Kyler and he knows that they will never be more than friends. He also has the additional burden of being abandoned by his family and having no support system. He numbs the pain with alcohol and sex however rather than easing his problems it only increases them.

Rachel is trying to escape the demons from her past and she believes the best way to do that is to be close to Faye so she packs up and tries to leave Ireland and its memories behind. Her only hope is that her past doesn’t follow her.

Brad and Faye strike sparks in each other and although they do their best to antagonize each other their true feelings emerge and they see each other in a different light. They both have traumatic pasts that they must overcome before they can truly be together and their journey is not without its setbacks but the end result is so worth the bumps.

I loved both these characters as Rachel is strong and feisty despite her past and Brad has finally become the man we always knew that he was. Together they help each other heal and become much stronger together than apart. The story has some suspense, a few twists and a whole lot of drama, angst and chemistry and is a great addition to the series. I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG, this was such a gritty love story! Siobhan Davis doesn’t do smooth and boring...

As always, the story plot unwinds the past and, in this book, current events force the characters to literally face their demons. I loved to see both Brad and Rachel grow individually, as well as how their backgrounds drew them to each other time after time. Their romance was raw and sweet and totally tear-inducing. It was interesting to see how Faye and Kyler’s relationship was intertwined with theirs, and that their Happily Ever After is evolving as well. I haven’t been disappointed with any of the books so far and am as impatient as ever to discover the stories of the remaining Kennedy boys! I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.

Ahh I am loving my reread of the Kennedy Boys! This book gives us Rachel and Brad’s story - two individuals who certainly deserve a HEA. I’m so glad we get their story. It feels like they’d been left in limbo before I read their story so I’m glad they can relax…but now I need to go rescue Kaden!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in the Series so far! <3
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 30, 2019
Okay first things first.... Saving Brad is part of the Kennedy Boys series (book 5), and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone I would highly recommend reading the other books in this series. There are several books in this series that can be read as standalone novels and I always recommend reading the others, but this one in particular I feel is much better when read after the first 3 Kennedy Boys series books around Kyler and Faye.

If you have already read the first 4 books in this series you will know that Brad isn't blood related to the Kennedy family which the series is centered around, however as an honorary member of the family I am so glad that Brad got his own book! Also if you have read any of my reviews for the first 3 books you will know I have had a soft spot for Brad from the beginning.

BUT in this book you really see the broken side of Brad, his vulnerability and you see how this affects his relationships with those around him. Essentially he is lost, and there is little sign of the Brad we know and love from the previous books in the first parts of his own story. There are slivers of light peeking through though and throughout the book I was rooting for his real nature to come through.

Enter Rachel. She comes back into the Kennedy series like a whirlwind, and somehow manages to keep Brad on his toes - something he is not used to. All the while dealing with her own mess and internal struggles. They literally save each other - but that's not to say it's an easy ride, because let's face it, when is it easy in the Kennedy world?

Another aspect I love about this book in particular is that is shows a fairly healthy friendship between a male and female character which I will leave unnamed in the review so you can read this for yourself. But it's really nice to read about a male and a female who are close friends with no ulterior motives or it have started because it's the best friends partner.

I could go on because I love these two so much and this is probably my favourite of the Kennedy Boys series to date. But I will let you make up your own mind.

Saving Brad by Siobhan Davis is book 5 in the Kennedy Boys series and can be read as a standalone.

“Because I’m done being a victim. I’m a survivor. And it’s finally time to start living my life.” - Rachel

I have eagerly awaited Brad’s story and my heart has broken for him several times already in the series as we’ve seen the difficulties he’s had to deal with. I know some readers may hate Brad for the things he’s said and done when it comes to Faye and Kyler but I really feel for the guy and wanted him to get his own HEA.

This book is addictive, captivating and memorable. It is the best book of the series so far and I’ve already re-read it as I can’t get enough of Brad and Rachel who are perfect for each other. Siobhan Davis has created another amazing story that you won't want to put down!

As with all of the Kennedy Boys books, we get glimpses of the other family members in this story and I love that we get to see how they are all doing and are given hints of what’s still to come for Kyler and Kalvin’s brothers. Next up in the series will be Kaden and I’m looking forward to learning more about one of the older brothers who we know less about than the others.
