Second Heat: A Gay Paranormal Romance (Omega Bait Book 2) Kindle Edition
Nico is the young, unwanted omega son of a pair of alpha wolves. Like all other omegas, he was thrown into the fighting pit to prove himself and find an alpha mate. Too bad it hasn’t worked out like that. Nico’s been in the pit for longer than he’d care to remember. Life’s nothing but a struggle for survival, until a new locker room doctor shows up.
Mick is an older alpha werewolf, talented in fixing what ails the body and the heart. On assignment from his pack alpha, Deacon, he’s been sent to spy and cause subterfuge within the omega fighting circuit. A rare wolf doctor, Mick is quickly hired by the pit with clear instructions: do only enough to keep them alive.
But when Mick’s eye is caught by a ferocious, gorgeous omega, he’ll do whatever it takes to save him. Even if it means revealing what he’s really there for. Omega Bait: Second Heat is a gay wolf shifter mpreg romance novel intended for adults only.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2019Mick and Nick's story has its brutal moments. I always love a good revolution though. It would be interesting to read about what Lionel and the others built.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024book is good for what it is, and the continuation of the omega pits world is good to build on. haven’t seen it in other omega verse or shifter books
only real glaring issue is Mick’s secondary gender. in the first book, he is an omega. that is how he detected logan’s first pregnancy and was a whole plot point. in this book, he is described as an alpha on the book blurb, and a beta within the book itself
the only way I could see to reconcile was if the alpha mention on the cover was a mistake, and he’s taking blockers that allow him to pass for a beta as part of his cover identity. and then as an omega I guess it’s possible for omegas to impregnate other omegas in this universe. don’t know but anyways that was the most glaring inconsistency, though I’m not sure how much it ultimately matters. it doesn’t really ruin anything reading after the first book, and if you only read this one, it doesn’t diminish the plot at all

- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2018i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Omega Bait series. In this book, Mick is the uncle of the alpha Deacon and a doctor. When Deacon asks Mick to go undercover at a bait pit to gather evidence so they can shut it down, Mick agrees. The omegas are held against their will and forced to fight each other for the alpha's entertainment. Mick goes undercover as the new doctor and he meets Nico, an omega. Mick is a beta and the other alphas don't see him as a threat. When Nico comes in for an injury, Mick wants to protect him and is very attracted to the younger man. Nico sees Mick and he flirts with him and thinks they could have some fun. Mick and Nico grow closer and Mick wants to save him and take him home with him, but knows he can't tell him the real reason he is there. When Mick calls Deacon for help, they are unable to get there because they are at another bait pit closing it down, leaving Mick to figure out what to do. I loved this series. I really loved Mick. i thought he was a really good guy and he really cared about Nico. This book had a little bit of everything, there was danger and drama and a lot of heat between Mick and Nico. Another good one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018This was the second book in the series of Omega Bait Camps and this one definitely had more action in it than the first. Deacon's uncle Mick is sent to a bait camp as the doctor to do some recon so that their pack can infiltrate. While he's there he meets his mate, an omega who's scheduled to a death match.
This kept me pretty entertained. I was anxious to see how it would end, and it was worth the read. A fun, quick story that ended with a bit of a cliffhanger... we'll have to see.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018The Omega bait pits are so sad to read about but not so untrue to things in real life. In this story Mick is sent there to doctor and to spy to see if there is a way to get rid of the pits. Mick is older and does not think he will find love. Nico is an omega who can't seem to escape the pits. Could they wind up being each other's answer to what alludes them? You really want to read this to find out.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018Mick is a doctor and a beta he goes under cover to the Paw and Pride omega bait pit that his pack intends to shut down. - Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018Second Heat is the story of Nico and Mick. Nico is an omega who has spent his life training and fighting in the bait pits. Mick is the head doctor of the Calibury Pack sent by his alpha to gain intelligence of a bait pit so they can take it down. They meet on the first day and the attraction is immediate. However, Mick cannot tip his hand just yet and Nico is a slave to the bait pit owned by a ruthless alpha. When the stakes turn deadly, what will Mick do to save the omega he loves?
Great book! A sequel to First Heat, this story follows the doctor who helped Logan and is related to the Calibury Pack alpha. It also contains those dreaded bait pits, but this time it is much worse. The omegas at this pit are nothing more than slaves, treated as easily replaceable and less than human. In the midst of all that, you get a beautiful love story between an older doctor who wishes for a mate and family and an omega who wishes for the same but does not believe he will ever get it. You cannot help cheering them on, hoping they finally get their happily ever after. Lots of drama and emotion with a bit of humor thrown in. Definitely worth the read.
