En el año 1487, la tecnología de los neandertales es realmente avanzada, ya han construido naves espaciales y explorado parte de la sistema solar, y ahora, ya son capaces de generar energía sin límites. Rozarán la velocidad de la luz, necesario para abordar la exploración de la galaxia. La historia comienza en la primera prueba tripulada provista del primer motor de velocidad luz. La idea del experimento es comprobar los efectos de dilatación temporal que, aplicado a los humanos, permitiría explorar los confines de la galaxia, incluso salir de ella. Para ello se selecciona una tripulación de alto nivel científico y técnico, que han participado en el diseño e implementación de la nave, y que, por tanto, pueden asumir cualquier fallo o eventualidad que se produzca. El lugar elegido para las pruebas es Marte, para prevenir cualquier efecto colateral indeseado que pudieran afectar a La Tierra.     I found Seconds recently and I have to admit that it is actually a jewel in the most recent sci-fi literature! I enjoyed reading this book and got totally thrilled by its remarkably catching plot, involving different events which initially seem to be apparently disconnected.

    The storyplot starts with an old friends' meeting in 2030, where one of the characters begin to tell a story. After this, a fully different, futuristic-like world dominated by Neanderthals is introduced to the reader. An expedition of two men, a woman and an assistant android leaves Earth in a high-tech spacecraft, pretending to time travel into the future by rotating Mars around at 99% of speed of light.

    After this journey, the novel then continues in past times before the action focuses on the epoch of the Kingdom of Granada in Spain during the Late Middle Age . Later, all of the different elements in the story line become related in such an unexpected way the reader will be truly amazed about!

    With a clear, easy-to-follow writing style, this short book offers the reader a really enjoyable time. In addition to this, some historical and scientific background complements the plot in an accesible way, so that everybody can learn new interesting information without getting frightened about it. The open ending suggests that Seconds could be followed by a sequel; I am definitely looking forward for the author's future work. Meanwhile... if you want to discover something new in sci-fi world, this is your book.

    Como lector empedernido este libro me ha parecido de lo más interesante. La Ciencia Ficción es un género donde hacer algo diferente no es nada fácil y el autor lo ha conseguido de una manera brillante. Sin desvelar nada de la obra, "Segundos" como el título indica, parece referirse al Tiempo; nada més lejos de la realidad como descubrirá el lector. Sin embargo, el Tiempo y el Espacio estan muy presentes y tan bien tratados que el lector se integra en ellos sintiéndose en todo momento atrapado por la lectura. Como parece indicar, el autor, deja abierta la posibilidad de, cuando menos, otra entrega más. Así que, a los que nos ha "enganchado" este libro no nos queda más remedio que esperar que la aventura continúe.

    Engancha desde el primer momento, con un ritmo muy rápido y cambiante en el tiempo. El enfoque es muy original y las paradojas están bien resueltas. Solo tiene un problema: si se lee por la noche se cae fácilmente en la tentación de leerla de un tirón y cuando te das cuenta ha llegado la hora de levantarte ... Espero que el autor publique pronto la segunda parte!.
