The Serenity Murder: A Luca Mystery Crime Thriller: Book #2 Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 589 ratings

When a detective second-guesses his gut, he'll have to get creative to catch the killer.

Luca worries cancer and divorce have dulled his razor-sharp instincts. So the detective is relieved when his next murder case seems like a no-brainer.

When the wealthy victim is found dead in her private-island home, the gold-digging husband seems like the obvious killer.

As Luca digs deeper and follows the clues, however, he uncovers a whole new line-up of possible suspects. No longer able to rely on his gut feelings, Luca puts the victim's sordid affairs and her rivalries under the microscope.

With time running out, Detective Luca must find a way to regain his swagger and solve the case before the killer strikes again.

The Serenity Murder is the 2nd book in the riveting Luca Mystery series. If you like hardened detectives, unexpected plot twists, and seeing the crime from multiple points of view, check out this gripping whodunit.

Bile splashed against the rear of my throat. I'd hated her for years and thought endlessly about doing away with her. It was finally time to do it.

Review

A Two Time No. 1 Best Seller! "Mystery fans seeking a well-rounded and engrossing attention to detail as characters dance around each other and the world of the rich will find The Serenity Murder a powerful, compelling tale that centers around what happens when a clearly guilty perp faces too much competition and an adept detective is forced to trust his sense something is not quite right with his obvious conclusion." Mid-West Book Review ★★★★★

"The appeal of Dan Petrosini's story lies not so much in a standard murder whodunit but in his approach to building competing motivations for murder from different angles and different character perspectives. Readers are along for a interesting delve into fine wines, rich people, and a host of special interests which weave a strong story line and keep readers guessing about the outcome and Luca's ability to get at the heart of what's really going on."
California Book Watch ★★★★★

"An attention to interesting descriptions enhances the story line (
"According to the autopsy, he was lying. Tucking the deception into a mind file, I moved on.") and brings the investigative process and its conundrums to life." Donovan Literary ★★★★★

Dan has a way of adding some humor into his writing along with his knowledge of a myriad of other interesting subjects. In this Luca mystery he includes his knowledge of wine. I have thoroughly enjoyed all his books I have read and hope that his writing sessions in Naples, Florida continue along with Luca's search for a permanent residence! Thanks Dan, you are a true Renaissance man!

This was the first Luca novel I had read. I don’t know if there was any background from the first two Luca novels needed to feel fully invested in this third novel, but I felt at a loss most of the time. The idea behind the story was good, but something was missing, as in character depth. Doubt I will read any more of this series.
