About the author

I am a writer of contemporary and speculative fiction and artist of all things monsters. I live to create new worlds and the people in them. Several of my books have been best sellers both nationally and internationally. I have also been a finalist in the LAMDA awards, the "Oscars" of gay literary works.
I do my best to write original stories with powerful characters and emotion as well as a fast paced plot. My goal isn't just to deliver a good story but to take the reader into the story and let them experience the characters as if they are right there with them.
While almost all my books have a romantic element, I will be the first to admit, they are not traditional romance. In fact, I'd like to think there is nothing traditional about them. And the stories I paint are done so way outside the lines of traditional genres.
One of my favorite things to do as a writer is push the boundaries of what makes a story and to deliver the unexpected and maybe even change the perspective of the reader.
My characters are more often than not, beautifully flawed, not alway the good guy, and make mistakes. Their stories will take dark turns which, in the end, make the light at the end of the tunnel all the more brighter.
If you're looking for something different, exciting, and unique, my books are for you.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2013This book took me by surprise. I really, really dislike science fiction. I don't know why. It's just a genre I don't seem to relate to.
I only purchased it because of the ecstatic user reviews. Please add mine to those. Somehow, "Seven" changed my mind about the whole genre.
The book was wonderfully well-written, ingenious, with just enough fact to make the science fiction almost plausible. The sex was great - explicit, but not overdone. But what really drives this book are the characters. Seven, initially mistaken by Chase to be a paranoid (with foil on his head, and all the rest) turns out to be a charming, naive, sexy and beautiful young man. Chase has had the week from hell, fired from his job as an investigative reporter for plagiarism (which he didn't do), relegated, by a misleading ad, to an apartment where his only company would be the mice, and close to desperate. The two meet in the hallway and, well, the rest is the book.
Of course, Seven is not a paranoid. He is a science "experiment" escaped from the lab of the totally evil megalomaniac, Dr. Stone. There is a terrific action/suspense story propelled by the imperative to stop this monster before he hurts any others. And the hapless Chase gets roped into it. It's not too much of a spoiler to hint that he was always a part of the plan - he just didn't know it.
There are many moments in the book that will move you profoundly - this book contains many illustrations of the most profoundly deep love, the ultimate illustration of Plato's "other half" theory. These relationships that survive even torture and imprisonment are selfless, stirring and beautiful. We root for the heroes from the very first pages, and our heart soars with their love for each other.
I cannot say it strongly enough - buy this book! It is unique, powerful and beautiful, all at the same time.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2013REVIEW WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED AT REVIEWS BY JESSEWAVE WHERE I RECEIVED THE BOOK AS A FREE REVIEWING COPY AND PURCHASED IT LATER.
I have heard a lot of good things about this writer’s works and her works are in scifi/fantasy genres both of which I really like. However for no particular reason I seemed to avoid reading her works. Finally I decided that I have to give it a try. I definitely understand good reviews of her works, but I am also sure now that my subconscious decision to avoid her works was correct and that is what I am going to continue to do in the future. The reason being is that I spent at least couple days talking myself out of being mad at one particular character in the book. I was supposed to write this review last week and I felt that writing this review right after reading the book would not be fair to the book. I needed “cool off” time :) .
One more thing – I literary agonized with the rating of this one. I mean all reviews are subjective, just one reader’s opinion, but usually when I rate I have no problem downgrading the story if I did not like something, but my dislike should also not fit within the story. If I just hated a character, a plot turn, whatever it was, but in my opinion it worked within the story, I will either not downgrade, or just downgrade a little bit. So eventually the rating became what you see. There were some niggles which caused me to do that and which had nothing to do with my intense dislike for specific character.
I really loved the settings in this story. I thought the author weaved the scifi part of the story in “our” world” seamlessly. At some point when I was reading I had to pinch myself and remind myself that the story is indeed a science fiction despite being not dated and having the feel of “our” time otherwise. I had to remind myself that awful experiments that Dr. Stone did on Seven and his friends could not happen in reality. Or actually could they? The blurb does not go in details in what exactly was happening on the Sub Floor, so I will not go into details either, but if you read it and think about it, I am sure you recognize at least remote possibility that something close to it may at some point happen. Maybe I have a wild imagination.
Now, about the romance, I am not sure whether this story is a romance despite having a romantic storyline which ends up with a strong HFN ending, or maybe with HEA, because I did not doubt that their love was strong. I call it HFN for a different reason which would be spoilerish to discuss in my review, but I will be curious to hear if those who have read it agree with me or not. I wonder if the story is a romance in a traditional sense of the word because I felt like I was reading a non stop adventure/triller with lots of action and in between the main characters got attracted to each other really fast and then they had to participate in a lot of action. It worked for me mostly, but as I said, I am not sure about the story being a traditional romance.
And now I am going to try to explain why I agonized over the rating so much. I hate manipulative characters, they push my buttons usually. There is a master manipulator in this book who would go all the way (like killing lots of people if needed) to stop the evil mastermind. The degrees to which he went to me went beyond all “ends justify the means” argument, although I can see the opposite POV. Now I was thinking the story over for few days and was trying to decide whether I just hated him or some of his actions did not work for me, jerked me out of the story. I think they did a little bit because I felt that because of his actions Chase and Seven sometimes lost agency, I felt like they were the pawns on his desk and I just do not like feeling that way about main characters.
Another niggle I had that villain was just way over the top for me. I mean, not to the degree that he felt like a cartoon character twirling his mustache, but overall he was just too much for me. I understand that at the end the author was trying to give him motivations, but for me it still did not feel enough to humanize him. Maybe because that piece of information was given so close to the end and I was feeling like – “whatever, please disappear now”? I do not know.
Recommended, but it will not be a reread for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2014This book had everything that I love in an m/m romance. Suspense--lots of it. Danger and near mishaps. Near non-stop action and intrigue. Paranoia (you're not paranoid if they really ARE out to get you.) A cool world where genetic studies have created superhuman psychic powers. Hurt and comfort. And really likeable characters, not just in the main pairing, but the supporting cast as well.
I'll admit it; I'm a sucker for certain tropes, and the seme/ume is one of them. I just happen to like size difference, though I've read plenty of gay fiction without it. (My other trope is military/cop with lots of muscles). So right from the start I liked Seven and Chase, even though they were presented as near opposites. Seven seems both vulnerable and crazy, and just this mystery was enough to draw me in. I actually came across this book from the blog tour with the excerpt. The concept together with the scene and the style of writing was enough that I immediately purchased the book.
Unlike so many other books I've read, this one never disappoints me. The plot moves from tension to tension with just enough break in between to enjoy the scenery (and the sex). Dr. Stone is a great bad guy, and the other psychics are both dangerous but sympathetic as victims in a larger scheme. I adored Nine and hope that Wilder brings him back in a future sequel. The concepts of precognition and event manipulation was interesting, and I enjoyed some of the twists that this brought to things. Some things (like Eighteen) were just plain creepy.
Those who know me know that I rarely give a five out of five rating. To me this means I would re-read this in a heartbeat, and count it among my favorites. Everything about the book was clean and professional. I don't think I even found any nits, which is VERY rare.
I'll be on the lookout for more of Wilder's writing.

OMG I absolutely loved this book. Ms Wilder is a genus at writing story-lines that keep you glued to them. Loved the characters in this book Seven, Nine, Thirteen, Four and Three play an amazing roll in this story. When all life set in motion for Chase leading him to a meeting with Seven would alter his life.. A Fantastic Book I can highly recommend.. I cant wait to read the next book..

I loved this storyline immensely. I’m not a great lover of sci fi but this is a brilliant story can’t wait for the rest
- Kindle CustomerReviewed in the United Kingdom on February 10, 2014
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - mostly
I thoroughly enjoyed this complex sci fi adventure. With a repulsive antagonist, vulnerable secondary characters and very real danger to the protagonists, the story kept my attention throughout, apart from the sex scenes. A few of them showed character development but most were both grunt by grunt explicit and routine in delivery. They could be skipped but they were lengthy enough to really interrupt the tension of the plot. However, since sex scenes showing the whole caboodle seem to be a requirement for books in the MM genre I can see why the author felt they had to be there.
Other than that the story was terrific.
