Shattered Warrior: (Dark Warrior Alliance Book 11) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 378 ratings

Detective Orlando Trovatelli is a glutton for punishment when it comes to matters of the heart and not even his shifter instincts can keep him on course. It’s bad enough that he has feelings for the Vampire Queen, who is mated to one of the most powerful males of the Tehrex Realm, but then he falls for Jaidis, a mated cambion. He clings to the pathetic excuse that Jaidis’s mate is abusing her and the Goddess will reconsider and give Jaidis to Orlando in the end. He learns how wrong he is the night he arrives at Jaidis’s house to find her lying in a pool of her own blood while struggling to save her unborn baby. Orlando is prepared to move heaven and earth to save Jaidis’s life, but ultimately all he can guarantee Jaidis is that he will protect her unborn son. Struggling with his new responsibilities, Orlando isn’t prepared to deal with the aftermath of the new archdemons. With his Omega on one side of the fence and Zander on the other, Orlando is forced to choose between his loyalty to the Dark Warriors and disclosing their existence to humans. After everything Orlando has been through, he questions the Goddess and whether his faith in her has been in vain.

Orlando is bitter with jealousy. He fell in love with Elyse but she is Zander's mate. Then he thinks he is in love with a mated and pregnant cambion who is abusedby her mate. When he goes to her house he finds a mess. She is barely holding onto life and her mate is dead. She makes him promise to take care of her child. She gives birth, names him then dies. Orlando begins to feel as if the godesses is against him.
Then he sees Ember and things start changing. She is part of Hayden's pack and is training to be one of the enforcers for the pack.
There is plenty of arguments and compromises in this book. Orlando also has to learn to let go and grow up in my opinion. But I still adored reading his story. I love all of the Dark Warriors and their mates!

I got to tell you l was excited for Orlando to finally get a mate. After everything he's been through he deserves to have a fantastic one. However, I am not impressed with Ember. At first I didn't understand the vampire queens coolness to Ember. Further into the story it will make total sense. The goddess hit the nail on the head. That's all the hint I will give. Ok, I lie, she's selfish! And seems like all she cares about is her individual goals. She never once thought about how her goals should change after they get together. She never tried to get to know a single person important to Orlando. When she discovers she's wrong about things she takes forever to talk about them. At the end I would have blurted out how wrong I was even if it was in front of his family. I wouldn't want him to suffer any longer. I could have started talking about it on the way to the bedroom.

Orlando is feeling very unlucky at love. He knows it is pointless to mourn Elsie's mating with Zander, the two are obviously Rated Mates and meant for each other. He knows he is jealous of the concept of having a mate rather than the particulars of Elsie and Zander. When he met Jailais at the clinic and realized that the pregnant woman was being abused by her mate, he was angry that he can do nothing to help her. When Elsie has a vision that sends him rushing to Jailais' home, he arrives in time to save the baby but no one else. When she asks him to take the baby and keep him safe, he has no choice. He registers that the feline shifter who came to investigate the crime scene seems to be able to calm his leopard.

Ember is a cougar shifter who has a deep love of the shifter pack she belongs to. She is determined to become one of the elite warriors who patrol and guard the pack. When she meets Orlando for the first time she finds herself admiring this Dark Warrior who cares enough to agree to raise an orphan child. She hopes she will get a chance to jump his bones one day. Little does she know.

Though there are a lot of battles in this book as new demons arrive who don't seem to care about exposing the existence of the supernatural world to the humans, I found the relationship between Orlando and Ember to be the most interesting part. They might be Fated Mates, but that doesn't mean it will be smooth sailing for their relationship even after the mating ceremony. Apparently even Fated Mates need some help fighting out how to live together.

Trim and Julka done it again this story about Olando and Ember is fantastic.

Orlando a tuff Dark Warrior with a soft side. Meets Jaidis who's in a really bad relationship and he's her mate. He shoots her and her last breath she asks Orlando to care for her unborn son Brantley. During the birth in a bloody mess Ember comes into the picture. Sparks fly but neither one of them want a relationship.

Ember a cougar shifter that wares glasses, yes glasses. Ember works as a CIS at crime scenes. She's not had a lot of relationship but the last ended with him finding his mate and it wasn't her. She is devoted to her pack above all. Head strong and very stubborn.

Orlando has Brantley but the pull towards Ember is getting stronger by the minute. There's one thing that could stand in the way Elsie the queen.

    Fantastic series, fantastic book!

I'm on book #12. I love your stories. Your characters are engaging. I follow their lives eagerly. BUT...you desperately need proof readers!!! Punctuation is a disaster. And sometimes I have to read a sentence or paragraph multiple times to figure out what you meant versus what was written. And I'm not reading for the sex scenes. In fact, they are a bit overdone. Good effort. Get better.

This book gets a 5* rating because I love the way T&J added some jealously between the female Fated Mates and has the Dark Warriors and the shifters disagreeing over how to handle a situation with the "new demons" attacking humans, that could be volatile to their centuries old relationship co-existing with one another.
After the mating ceremony, Orlando's mate, Ember was to return to Jesaray House with the shifters instead if Zeum. With a heavy heart, Orlando leaves Zeum causing conflicting feelings for him and the Dark Warriors who had become his family.
The Dark Warriors and the shifters need to repair their relationship, as the demons have escalated their horrific attacks on the humans hoping to cause enough choas that will expose the super natural to the humans as their enemy and not their protectors.

Great variation of supernatural characters and interactions. One HUGE disappoint, the hypocritical development of Zander’s noble character. How can he be so hard-nosed in enforcing rules and doling out punishments like the threat of the death penalty to one character MISTAKENLY accused of murder, but different rules applied when it was his brother. Seriously?! His brother admitted to murdering an innocent woman and Zander hides the incident and pays off the Madame! So is he noble or a mobster?! Is everybody ok with Kyran murdering someone and then going on to live his happily ever after??? That went a little sideways. I don’t believe anyone is ALL good but where did the justice go here? That was flat out murder!
