    Such a good story. So emotionally wrought. Jaxon has hidden himself away for years, afraid of how his family and town will react to the town sheriff coming out of the closet. So much so he lost the one he loved. (On an aside I feel like kian and Jaxon were equally at fault due to no one should try to force someone else out of the closet. So they were just at different stages in life). Then Dante dame to town, guardian to his younger brother and sister renovating a building into a B&B. I loved Dante and his smug devilness. Just his suave and mild attitude of New York entitlement. But under berthing he has a heart of gold. Watching their chemistry explode on the pages with each encounter where they push each other’s buttons was amazing. Loved the undertone stories of hunting a vandalized as well as a stalker committing hate crimes. Can’t wait for more. I hope we get stories for zak, callan, Rhett and more. Such an adorable town with captivating characters.

    This book was an enjoyable start to a new series. Small town setting, a closeted gay sheriff and an angry out of towner who is not particularly welcomed with open arms. There was a lot about the blurb that sounded appealing enough for me to pick up this book and it was an enjoyable ride.
    Overall I enjoy K. Webster's writing, but it's not a given. Sometimes I found her books a bit disappointing, though maybe it's also because the blurb always gets me started with high expectations. Anyway, I did enjoy this one. There's a lot of drama going on, maybe a little too much, but it was also hot and the characters were interesting.

    Jax is the closeted sheriff, who had a highschool fling that ended because he was too scared to come out of the closet. Of course he and Kian were just teenagers, but it's sad to think you lose someone because you aren't ready to be yourself around the people you call family, especially since there's a sensing they won't accept you. His father's remarks make that clear enough, and Jax has been afraid to be his true self because he doesn't want to be a disappointment to his parents. But it never works to force someone out of the closet when he's not ready.

    Dante is the one that comes from the big city and is ready to settle down in a small town after his father's death. He and his sister Shelly are opening a B&B and their brother Callan attends the local highschool, where he is bullied because of his sexuality, and it makes Dante question if he made the right choice. There is some more homophobic bullying going on, which makes for a nice suspense side story.
    When Jax and Dante meet, they start off wrong, and their first sexual encounter is one filled with angriness and "I-don't-like-you-but-I-want-you" vibes. They have hot chemistry, though, and slowly this 'one-time-thing' turns into more than they both were looking for. I would have liked it if they had stayed enemies a little longer, though. And Dante calling Jax 'boy' annoyed me a bit. Jax wasn't submissive like that - he could go full on alpha just as much as Dante could!

    There's quite some drama going on, but to me that's part of the charm of a small town romance. There's a lot of gossip, a lot of curiosity and people knowing all there is to know about each other. It's not easy to fit in when you come from out of town. Specially when you are gay and the town has a homophobic mayor (Jax's father). I'm not sure how much we'll see of him in the following books, but let's say I hope it won't be too much. He was not a character to like.

    I had to think about how to rate this book. There were some annoyances, but all in all I did enjoy it. It's a well written story with hot mc's and likable secondary characters, so 4 stars it is.

    Sheriff's Secret by K. Webster is the first book in a new shared by authors series, Brigs Ferry Bay. I went into thinking I was getting a feel good small town MM romance with emotions. That was my bad because while it was definitely emotional it was missing the feel good vibe of most MM small town romances I read. The town of Brigs Ferry has some accepting kind people but more than a few homophobic hateful folk too. I really think the book should have some trigger warnings in it's synopsis for the homophobic slurs and hate crimes that you're going to encounter in this book. You might think by this opening paragraph that I didn't like the book, but I really did I promise, it just wasn't quite what I expected.

    It took me a bit to bond with Jax, and it wasn't because he was in the closet, which was completely understandable, no one should ever be forced to come out until they are ready to. For me, it was because he was so hung up on his ex and made many of his moments with Dante feel tainted with his thoughts of regret and shame. Yet even if on the outside he comes off cold he is a big softy, who can't help but adopt stray cats and loves his brother and friends fiercely.

    On the other hand, I immediately liked Dante. Dante is fun, flirty, honest and unapologetic. From the first time him and Jax meet he doesn't let Jax intimidate him and holds his own. He also handled their arrangement way better than I was while reading it lol oh how my heart broke every time Jax acted like what they were doing was a mistake.

    Together, Jax and Dante are explosive. They go from enemies to lovers with some fantastic banter along the way. Dante has a way of unraveling Jax, who is wound up so tight. Jax turns to putty around him no matter how much he fights it. There's a lot of intimate scenes on the book which was well written and hot, so I'm not complaining. You could feel the instant connection between them and when it quickly becomes more than just hooking up, it seeped from the pages. Your heart goes on this journey with them, and it hurts while Jax struggles to fights his fears and find the courage to choose Dante publicly.

    All in all I really enjoyed Sheriff's Secret by K. Webster. It's a steamy small town romance which heart bearing honest moments, sweet sibling relationships, and some intense harsh events which includes homophobic slurs and hate crimes. A read that will definitely play with your heartstrings.

    I know, i just know this is going to be an all time favorite series! Book 1 and i'm hooked! The whole town set up has me dying for the next book.

    These two have my heart! What a way to begin this series. The character build and progression was pure perfection. From Dante mending his broken heart to Jax crawling, then smashing his way outta that closet! I bloody loved it! When these two got together it was an absolute inferno all over the page. Goodness me were they hot. The lust and greed and alpha showdowns had me sweating and panting like a 20 stone marathon runner! Phewwweeeee! Those guys are YUM!!!

    Besides the main characters the residents of this town have my interests piqued! Theres soooo many i need to know more about! Kian, Cato, Callan, Zak, Cormac, soooo many!

    I have to say the world building start to this series is top notch, i'm there. My heart is there, i'm invested in this small town, i need all the books!

    Sheriff Jaxson (Jax) Bell is hidden so far in the closet, its surprising he hasn't found Narnia!     Jaxson is the town's sheriff and Dante is the New York businessman whose family has moved to the small town and opening a B&B.
    They are super hot together - even if the Sheriff wants to keep it a secret.
    There's a lot going on in the previously sleepy town with trouble brewing - someone is on a homophobic crime spree and it's getting dangerous.
    Add to that the sheriff's parents are the most homophobic in the town having disowned one son, driven away another and kicked the youngest (still at school) out of home...
    This is really well written with lots of great side characters.
