Sheriff's Secret is one of my top 5 fave books of 2020! ****** Overall Rating: 5 stars Steam: 4 flames Genre: MM / Enemies to Lovers / Suspense Triggers: Homophobia/Hate Crimes ****** Sheriff's Secret is a heartbreaking, angsty, rage inducing, book with so much hotness it threw my emotions into overdrive. This book was so well written, I was instantly drawn into an engaging, suspenseful, thought provoking and emotional story and I was immediately connected to the characters. Sheriff's Secret lays the foundation for the Brigs Ferry Bay (BFB) series and introduces us to many secondary characters. Cato, Jax's best friend. Kian, Jax's first and only love/relationship. Zak and Callen, Jax and Dante's little brothers and Shelly, Dante’s sister. Jax, small town sheriff, and very lonely man. My heart instantly went out to him and his little brother. I can't imagine what it is like to grow up surrounded by so much hate, while hiding the biggest part of yourself, fearing you will disappoint everyone if you allow yourself to be your truest self, if you allow yourself to love. That shattered my heart into little tiny slivers. Dante is a wealthy New Yorker, who decided to move out of the city and open a bed and breakfast and live a quieter life with his siblings, Shelly and Callen. After a failed relationship and becoming his little brother’s guardian, he feels it is best to slow things down. It's not going to be such a quiet life because BFB is filled with hatred and homophobia. Eventually, Dante and his family become targets of hate and the Sheriff must ferret out who in his small town could be hateful enough to do such terrible things to Dante and his family. Jax and Dante together were like mentos and diet coke, as soon as the surface tension is broken, there is an explosion of epic proportions, and boy do these two have some explosive chemistry! These two start out as enemies...but is that how they will end? If you are looking for an amazing, suspenseful, emotional read that will shatter your heart and put it back together better than it was before; Sheriff’s Secret is for you.

    Author K Webster starts off a new Series with Sheriff’s Secret and what a Fantastic start it is. We are introduced to the town of Briggs Ferry Bay and who best to meet first is The Sheriff Jaxson Bell.
    Jaxson Bell has lived his whole life in Briggs Ferry Bay taking over the job from his father, but no one knows is that he hides a secret from the town and his family but mostly doesn’t even want to admit to himself who he really is , that is until he meets Dante Kincaid the newest owner of the BB in town.
    Dante is a man who is not only proud of who he is and doesn’t hide the fact but is willing to help Jaxson come to terms with who he is.
    Dante & Jaxson chemistry is off the charts steamy, but Dante will not hide who he is for anyone, watching them come to terms that you have to be happy with who you are and not worry about other people opinions that just might help Jaxson see that Dante is the man for him and he will stand beside him no matter what.
    This is just the start of this series but you will want to meet more people of this quaint town once you see the words The End.

    This book was an enjoyable start to a new series. Small town setting, a closeted gay sheriff and an angry out of towner who is not particularly welcomed with open arms. There was a lot about the blurb that sounded appealing enough for me to pick up this book and it was an enjoyable ride.
    Overall I enjoy K. Webster's writing, but it's not a given. Sometimes I found her books a bit disappointing, though maybe it's also because the blurb always gets me started with high expectations. Anyway, I did enjoy this one. There's a lot of drama going on, maybe a little too much, but it was also hot and the characters were interesting.

    Jax is the closeted sheriff, who had a highschool fling that ended because he was too scared to come out of the closet. Of course he and Kian were just teenagers, but it's sad to think you lose someone because you aren't ready to be yourself around the people you call family, especially since there's a sensing they won't accept you. His father's remarks make that clear enough, and Jax has been afraid to be his true self because he doesn't want to be a disappointment to his parents. But it never works to force someone out of the closet when he's not ready.

    Dante is the one that comes from the big city and is ready to settle down in a small town after his father's death. He and his sister Shelly are opening a B&B and their brother Callan attends the local highschool, where he is bullied because of his sexuality, and it makes Dante question if he made the right choice. There is some more homophobic bullying going on, which makes for a nice suspense side story.
    When Jax and Dante meet, they start off wrong, and their first sexual encounter is one filled with angriness and "I-don't-like-you-but-I-want-you" vibes. They have hot chemistry, though, and slowly this 'one-time-thing' turns into more than they both were looking for. I would have liked it if they had stayed enemies a little longer, though. And Dante calling Jax 'boy' annoyed me a bit. Jax wasn't submissive like that - he could go full on alpha just as much as Dante could!

    There's quite some drama going on, but to me that's part of the charm of a small town romance. There's a lot of gossip, a lot of curiosity and people knowing all there is to know about each other. It's not easy to fit in when you come from out of town. Specially when you are gay and the town has a homophobic mayor (Jax's father). I'm not sure how much we'll see of him in the following books, but let's say I hope it won't be too much. He was not a character to like.

    I had to think about how to rate this book. There were some annoyances, but all in all I did enjoy it. It's a well written story with hot mc's and likable secondary characters, so 4 stars it is.

    Such a good story. So emotionally wrought. Jaxon has hidden himself away for years, afraid of how his family and town will react to the town sheriff coming out of the closet. So much so he lost the one he loved. (On an aside I feel like kian and Jaxon were equally at fault due to no one should try to force someone else out of the closet. So they were just at different stages in life). Then Dante dame to town, guardian to his younger brother and sister renovating a building into a B&B. I loved Dante and his smug devilness. Just his suave and mild attitude of New York entitlement. But under berthing he has a heart of gold. Watching their chemistry explode on the pages with each encounter where they push each other’s buttons was amazing. Loved the undertone stories of hunting a vandalized as well as a stalker committing hate crimes. Can’t wait for more. I hope we get stories for zak, callan, Rhett and more. Such an adorable town with captivating characters.

    I absolutely loved Brigs Ferry Bay and I wish the town actually existed. I liked that Dante took his family to live there, thinking about creating a new life for his family, especially for his baby brother Callan. Unfortunately, things didn't go as well as he imagined. Intolerance and hate crimes were handled carefully. And the Sheriff is a gentle giant, with terrible parents, but a big heart and great friends. Jax and Dante had great chemistry and I loved their story. They started out as enemies but ended up together in a really nice way, with the Sheriff by his side. I also liked seeing a little more of Mr. Frosty and Rylan. I can't wait to read the books about Kian, Cormac, Cato, Callan and Zak!!!

    When this Author does MM she DOES MM!! LOVED IT! From start to finish, from the first word to the last i loved every second and now i'm hungry for more more more!!

    Growly Sheriff and the City Slicker couldn't be any more perfect if they tried! Dante moved his family away from the Big Apple to BFB to start fresh after his Fathers death and a painful break up. He doesn't expect the hostility of the locals including the local Sheriff so when he pushes the Sheriff's buttons right back he's surprised by what he see's under the surface. The heat, the longing, the vulnerability, the closeted scared guy the Sheriff really is. Not being his type at all Dante is taken aback but decides to go with it for one weekend fling only.

    Jax is just as surprised by the heat between him and the City guy. Still hung up on his high school love he doesn't understand his feelings for the vilainous Dante.

    As the weekend fling turns into weeks long fling Dante and Jax get more than they bargained for as the protective walls crumble for both of them. They become each others crux as small town life gets in the way. Hate crimes start going on all around them and Jax is determined to get to the bottom of it and maybe get the happy ever after he never dared to dream of.

    I know, i just know this is going to be an all time favorite series! Book 1 and i'm hooked! The whole town set up has me dying for the next book.

    These two have my heart! What a way to begin this series. The character build and progression was pure perfection. From Dante mending his broken heart to Jax crawling, then smashing his way outta that closet! I bloody loved it! When these two got together it was an absolute inferno all over the page. Goodness me were they hot. The lust and greed and alpha showdowns had me sweating and panting like a 20 stone marathon runner! Phewwweeeee! Those guys are YUM!!!

    Besides the main characters the residents of this town have my interests piqued! Theres soooo many i need to know more about! Kian, Cato, Callan, Zak, Cormac, soooo many!

    I have to say the world building start to this series is top notch, i'm there. My heart is there, i'm invested in this small town, i need all the books!

    Emotional, sweet, angsty, very sexy enemies to lovers MM story with a good slice of suspense.

    Sheriff Jaxson (Jax) Bell is hidden so far in the closet, its surprising he hasn't found Narnia! Can the hot new City Slicker who has moved to Brigs Ferry Bay with his siblings, drag the emotionally scarred Sheriff out in to the open? Or will Jax's fears coupled with Dante's own past hurt leave them both high and dry, despite their crazy hot undeniable chemistry?

    I really enjoyed this and the feelings and emotions that came out, not with just these two hot, alpha men, but their families too. With two vigilantes on the loose, one cruel and dangerous and one adding some much needed colour to the somewhat stuck in the mud small town, plus a host of fabulous characters, I'm looking forward to more from Brigs Ferry Bay
