About the author

Hi, thanks for stopping by my author page.
I write emotionally charged mystery books about ordinary people dealing with everyday situations until something goes badly wrong. (There is usually a dead body in there somewhere).
My first series - the Sophie Brown Mystery Series is dark and gritty. The second series - the Dotty Drinkwater Mystery series is cozy, full of zany lighthearted escapades.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoy how Ms. Ezzard spins a yarn. This Book 3 was one of sinister darkness. You never know what hidden ulterior motives a person may hide within a gruesome past.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI wanted to like this book. I found the premise different and fascinating: an addiction therapist attending a women's retreat in Scotland. Excellent! Not exactly another bakery cozy! The prologue was suspenseful and exciting. Unfortunately, though, I found I could not even finish the novel. First, there were a good many editing fails--some minor, such as missing quotation marks and commas, and others just ridiculous (i.e., "hiatus hernia" instead of "hiatal hernia"--hilarious!--or "disorientated" rather than "disoriented"), along with what I've heard described as inside-out clauses ("...take Susan her purse back" rather than "take Susan's purse back to her".) But many of the plot details seemed just, well, wrong. Wrong and unlikely. I found the depiction of a mental health counselor who is so heavily invested in a toxic relationship, one in which she is terrified to speak up honestly about her own feelings , to be off-putting. Additionally, I've attended many a women's retreat, and never encountered such a sick and potentially destructive psychological exercise as the one described in which participants must reveal to a total stranger a dreadful secret about themselves. Nor have I ever attended a successful women's seminar in which the provider has so many petty, restrictive rules to make the attendees uncomfortable; that entire scenario was unrealistic. I also found the retreat attendee descriptions to be rife with hidden fat-shaming; the body type "slim" is carefully noted for fully half of the descriptions listed on the paperwork the main character receives about staff and attendees, while no body type at all is listed for the rest of the individuals, leaving one to assume that their figures are to be found lacking. After I reached the intentionally-tripped/catfight scene, followed by the poison pen note slipped under a door, I decided I'd had quite enough of this bad boarding school atmosphere. I deleted the book from my Kindle.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2018Format: KindleThis is a great story to read. I love reading about mysteries and this one was no different I loved it. The story kept my interest from start to bottom. I am glad I read this story.
This is my honest and unbias opinion of the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseExcept for the prologue, nothing has happened beyond a weird group of women being catty. The MC isn't appealing to me. See no point bothering to read more.
