Sophie (Naughty Professor Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

I thought I had my whole life figured out: a solid teaching career, a good enough husband, and a house in the suburbs. Then I met the undeniably younger, Scottish, and mostly definitely sexy Dr. Dorian West. He swept me off my feet during a night of passion, and now it’s time to embark on a wild and reckless forbidden affair.

Just when I thought I knew everything, Dorian has much more to teach me. This is the tale of the real education of me, Dr. Sophie Martin: a lonely small-town woman who learns what love, sex, and life really means.

This is a story about love and learning about yourself, it is also about affairs and what is important. Sometimes things happen and we just go with it. This is a story about a younger man and what he can teach the teacher that thought she know it all. It is about loving and heartache. It was a story that was told in an incredible way.

This is my first time reading anything from this author, I was attracted to the book after reading the blurb. There aren’t many books written that feature the main female character being older than the male one and that was part of what drew me to this book. It’s a well written plot, the main characters do cheat on their spouses so if that is going to be a problem for you then you may have issues with this book. It’s a fairly short read and so it only took me just over an hour to read, this is perfect for when you want to read an enjoyable book over a cuppa. This is a quick read about an instalove/lust situation that has drama and steam that helps to keep this book moving along at a nice steady easy to read pace.

'Sophie' is an excellent story about why people have affairs and how hopelessly addicting they can be. Sophie and Dorian meet at a conference, and what should have been a one-night stand turns into an obsessive ongoing thing. As always happens, complications ensue, but for Sophie, it gives her the confidence to get out of a lousy marriage. Dorian loves his wife and kids more than his lover. There is a sweet surprise at the end, and it is not what you think--much better than the stories where the inconvenient spouse is somehow done away with.
Now for the hard part: The writing is not good at all--no style, poor word choice, poor grammar. A"trashy" novel can be written well.
I received an ARC from StoryOrigin and left this review voluntarily.

So many mixed emotions. I will warn you, if you do not like books that involve cheating spouses, this book is not for you. That said, Sophie and Dorian's story was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Sophie has been married for several years and she is bored and unhappy. She has fallen out of love with her husband and her life is dull and boring. When she meets Dorian at a teachers conference, she is immediately drawn to him and feelings she had forgotten existed stir inside her. Thinking it would be a one time thing, she gives into temptation and spends several blissful hours with Dorian in her hotel room. Much to her surprise, when she gets back home, there is a new dean of the school. Guess who?! The two grow closer and spend as much time together as possible. Dorian loves his wife, but she works out of the country most of the year and he is lonely. Neither if them intend to fall in love, but neither of them can let each other go. The ending wasn't what I expected, but it's hard to know who to root for. You never want to see a marriage ruined, but when two people are in love, you want to root for the love to conquer everything. Great story, super hot steamy scenes, and overall a beautiful love story.

Sophie and Dorian's journey may have it's bumps along the way, their relationship may have been the forbidden side but they were made for each other. Their attraction was instant, the connection between them was strong and their chemistry was steamy. They were good together.
    I enjoyed this story.

While this book is probably realistic, it did not give me what I was looking for. For one thing they were mad at each other all the time while looking for an excuse to fall into bed. With that kind of tension it is no wonder the angst factor was high. I wish I could have rated it higher because the blurb sounded like a book that I would really like to get into.
