Splintered Ice: A Best friend's Brother Hockey Romance (Wyncote Wolves Book 6) Kindle Edition

3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 1,070 ratings

Olivia

Transferring schools in the middle of my freshman year wasn’t a part of my plan, but I won’t let my smile falter.

Even when I run into my best friend’s older brother… the grumpy hockey player who I had a crush on in high school.

He threatens to break down every wall that I’ve barricaded myself behind, but I can’t let him in. Not when I know that he’ll only break my heart.

He claims that he doesn’t have feelings for me, so I’m left with no choice but to move on from the fantasy land I’ve been living inside my head.

But as soon as I meet another guy, Sterling Barrett has other plans…

And he won’t stop until he sabotages everything.

Sterling

Hockey is the only thing that matters.

There isn’t a single thing in my life that comes above it.

So, when my little sister’s best friend transfers to Wyncote, I add that to the list of things I don’t care about.

After going out of my way to avoid her, my sister begs me to keep Olivia Davis company. Reluctantly, I give in, even though it’s the last thing I want to do

But as I begin to get close with Olivia, I find myself going out of my way to see her.

She is my little sister’s best friend. She isn’t supposed to be anything more to me.

So, why do I find myself running toward her instead of away?

You and me, forever.
4 out of 5 stars
You and me, forever.
“It’s you and me forever, baby.”“You and me forever.”Ultimately, Sterling and Olivia make a sweet couple… but, their road to finally being with one another was anything but sweet. If you love the grumpy x sunshine trope, then Splintered Ice is the book for you! But, be warned, there’s a lot of back and forth between these two and a bit of miscommunication. It’s also a little sister’s best friend romance.Sterling’s story has been one that I’ve been waiting for. We’ve heard a lot about him but didn’t have his full back story. And while we do know a little bit more info about him, I still feel as if he’s a bit of an enigma.Oliva’s always been a sweet, quiet, bit of a bookworm girl, who has had a crush on her best friend’s older brother. And said best friend’s older brother – Sterling – has always been standoffish. For good reason… sort of. We’re told the reason, but I wish there had been flashbacks of them when they were younger.Splintered Ice is a quick and semi-sweet read that I enjoyed, but was left wanting a tad bit more of. I felt like once the romance happened it was sort of rushed. And while I know that the Wyncote Wolves series is interconnected and we’ll get glimpses of this couple in the other books, I just felt like something was missing…

Another amazing book in the Wyncote Wolves series!

Olivia is a good girl, focused on school and getting her degree in biology. Sterling is focused on hockey and moving on to the NHL after college. Olivia is also best friends with Sterling’s sister, Stella, so they have known each other most of their lives. When Stella asks her big brother to keep Olivia company, past feelings start to surface between the two, but she doesn’t want her heart to get broken, because Sterling’s number one priority has always been hockey. Olivia wants to fall, and Sterling makes it more than clear that he’s willing to catch her when she does….swoon!!

I’m absolutely obsessed with this series, and Sterling and Olivia did not disappoint. The slow burn mixed with a little jealousy, I was here for it all! I love the whole falling for the best friend’s sibling/sibling’s best friend trope, knowing there is a backstory between the characters makes things more interesting. After meeting Stella, I can’t wait to read her story…it’s hinted at in this book just a little bit, but it had me ready for more! This series is a must read for hockey romance fans!!

Sterling has always been cold and somewhat standoffish around his little sisters best friend Olivia, trying to keep he in the off limits lane. However, when she transfers to his college, he decides to no longer put aside his feelings. Olivia has been in love with Sterling for years but knows he only has hockey in his future and no room for her. When she tries to find friends and possibly more with another guy, Sterling makes his feelings known. Was a cute read but the instant flip from Sterling was a little weird. Liked the open honesty they had with each other but felt just a little forced in chemistry between them. A little steam, low drama and HEA

I absolutely devoured this book. It’s such a quick read that I finished in a few hours and immediately jumped into the next one.

Sterling gets a call from his bubbly younger sister Stella where she explains that her best friend is transferring to the same school as him. She convinces him to keep an eye out for Olivia and make sure she’s okay and making friends. Despite Sterling’s initial protests he agrees to text the freshman. Olivia has known Stella and Sterling her whole life. Which of course led to a horribly unrequited crush on her best friend’s grumpy older brother. So imagine her embarrassment when Stella forces Sterling to babysit her. That is until the brooding jock reminds her, he never does anything he doesn’t want to do. Swoon.

Olivia is the “better” half of her best friend. Where Stella is a snarky firecracker, Olivia is gentle and sweet as pie. She’s always smiling and trying to look on the bright side. Even when she’s desperately lonely at her new school she tries to hide her discomfort, but Sterling see’s right through that. As they start to hang out more it’s clear that there’s more between them than some lingering crushes. But are they willing to put everything on the line?

Everything about this book made me smile. I’m all for the childhood friends to lovers pipeline. Secret crushes, pining, crazy overbearing jealousy???? Sign me up. Then add the strange tension between side characters Stella and Simon? It all had me flying through the pages. This is an incredibly fast paced read. So much so that I was shocked when I reached the ending so quickly. The ending is a little abrupt, but I still ate this book up. I could have stayed with these characters for another 100 pages with no complaint. If you like a cutesy sport romance this is the series for you. You don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but I highly recommend going back and reading them all if you haven’t. They’re all easy, cheesy, and too darn cute (she said lovingly).

I get people’s gripes with it, but I loved how simple and gooey it was. It’s a great fluffy read when you’re in-between more intense books. Just don’t take it too seriously and you’ll enjoy yourself.

I've read several titles from this series, hoping they might get better, but they didn't. The characters are superficial, so there is nothing to develop. The writing is not the best–a lot of mixed metaphors and the spicy parts are kinda cheesy.

Sterling and Olivia are my new favorite Wyncote couple!

Sterling is territorial and I am a total sucker for a “stay away from my woman” type of man! I felt like Olivia was very relatable with her anxieties and her outlook on life.

I enjoyed their story however I felt like a there was just something missing. It was a quick read but I felt like it went too fast. I wanted more of their story, more of them connecting and their relationship.

Another brilliant book in this series. I love how there’s already feelings between Sterling and Olivia but nothing has ever been said or done. Hockey is everything to Sterling until Olivia comes back into his life after doing his sister a favour. Their feelings are quickly reignited and things go from strength to strength until one hockey game where he see’s something he doesn’t like.

It was nice to actually read a book and have a family member approve of a relationship this time and not be against it. Don’t forget to download the bonus epilogue once you’ve finished, it’s the icing on the cake 😍

Oh I love a jealous and possessive boy and Sterling did not disappoint! He tried to fight his feelings for Olivia and hide from the sunshine! I just loved their relationship and how the story developed. Olivia brings out a side of Sterling that he tries to hide and the two of them are just perfect. The hockey action for the Wyncote Wolves was awesome as always. Loving the series and can't wait for the next book.
