A book full of lightbulb moments! This will make you get $#!* done!!
Once I finally got my backside into gear to read this book thanks to Gemma's Self Discipline group of Facebook I couldn't put it down! I am the queen of procrastination! Even in lockdown with all the tome in the world I still kept putting off reading this book sat there on my kindle! Everything gets left until it can no longer be left any later and I end up a huge stressed mess making everyone around me miserable and striving to achieve impossible standards.
This book gave me sooo many lightbulb moments, and a multitude of management and coping strategies. I now I have my little ticking clock on order and I'm excited to get back in the office ready to focus and get those job lists ticked off.
In everyday life, I am stopping putting off those tasks that would take me 5 minutes, I'm so much more organised, calm and less likely to forget things.
So glad I opened up this book... finally! It really has been a game changer for me! - Kelly Lou
Perspective-changing approach to helping me get out of my own way.
This book is so much more than a "how-to". Supported by research and psychology, Gemma Ray road tests many different approaches to help people quit talking about it and start taking action to achieve whatever you want to achieve; anything from developing an effective morning routine, through focusing on work projects, to making bigger life changes, and everything in between. Gemma advocates that little changes can bring about big results, and offers different methods of making new habits and routines a firm part of life that are easy to maintain and actually stick. There are many prompts and exercises which helped me to change my perspective, leading me to just get out of my own way and start making progress towards the goals I've long said I wanted to achieve, but never quite got around to beginning. This book is inspirational and motivating. Highly recommended.
Polly.

About the author

Gemma Ray should have a PhD in procrastination. Her book on self discipline (that she had no self discipline to write) continues to top the best seller charts helping people develop their own self discipline strategies. Gemma writes from the heart for real people who need a hand pulling their finger out to take action and realise their potential.
Gemma has written for a number of publications, newspapers, blogs and businesses before realising a childhood dream of becoming an author. She writes "the books I need to read myself" and packages her research in a personal, fun account that is easy to read and even easier to implement.
Self proclaiming to "Not always having all my s*&% together", Gemma's down-to-earth delivery and style makes you feel like you have a friend between the pages giving you simple advice over a coffee. She continues that support for her readers through her online coaching courses and Facebook accountability groups, giving readers direct access to her no-nonsense witty retorts that makes accountability a whole lot of fun.
Join Gemma on a refreshingly honest, powerful and inspirational journey of self love, self belief and self trust through her books that will make you sit up and take action.
Gemma is a BBC Radio presenter, best selling author, marketing and PR specialist and always the most filthy person in a WhatsApp group chat. She should probably establish the first chapter of Oversharers Anonymous, is the world's worst cook and the clumsiest person you'll ever meet.
Catch Gemma live every Sunday from 2-6pm GMT on BBC Radio Lancashire via the BBC Sounds app, follow her on Instagram www.instagram.com/gemmadeeray and watch the weekly live interviews with incredible guests on Gemma Ray - Life Unfiltered on Facebook every Thursday evening.

Gemma Ray is an author who got me off my butt and made me realize that getting out of debt, getting healthy, and getting a solid morning routine were three of the most important things I wanted to do with me life. I read her book “Self-Discipline: A How-To Guide...” and it literally WOKE ME UP!
I’m SO HAPPY TO SHARE that she has written ANOTHER book to help me start my summer well! COVID, home-schooling my kids/working, momming, wife-ing, and life in general has had me feeling completely BOGGED. I’m in chapter 1 of this book and already feeling inspired to GET IT TOGETHER!
Her book is EXACTLY what I need right now!
She is in the UK and women (and possibly men?) all over the world can TOTALLY RELATE to her struggles and her REAL ways of making the most of your life! It’s a light, easy, readable, doable guide.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020If a good book is a good friend.. then this book is my BFF!! It’s the book equivalent of the friend that shoots you straight and tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. I’m one of those people that always puts things off until the last minute and sometimes I just end up sweeping stuff “under the rug” and it never gets done at all! (Yikes!). This book has been great in helping me break the cycle. It has tips and tricks that develop some better habits and on top of that, it also gets you to work out why you procrastinate in the first place. Great read, highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020This book has come at the most timely time in my life. Gemma has a way of both accepting and challenging the reader into change through her stories and words of wisdom. She's compiled so much research and information into one place, and it's amazing to have it all here at my disposal. This book will be one I return to again and again for inspiration and ideas as I continue to push myself to become a better version of myself and change my cycles of procrastination.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020This book is full of useful ideas and strategies that are easy to implement quickly. As a coach who helps people change their habits, I'm stashing some of these ideas away to share with my clients. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Once I picked it up I had to stop procrastinating and finish it!
I would highly recommend Stop Procrastinating and Start Living to, well, people like me who have been dogged by procrastination for so long....Importantly for me, it's written in a friendly, non technical, conversational style that was so easy to read and digest. It is packed with useful strategies and tips to help you get up and get things done.
There are techniques to help you get started on projects rather than putting them off for fear of who knows what that I found particularly useful as it's this which holds me back most. Then there are further chapters on forming good habits, visualisation and accountability all of which add to the overall success of the message. Since reading this excellent book I have also been using binaural beats as part of my daily relaxation regime and to help get to sleep so I feel ready to take on each new day.
Overall I would say this is a really accessible, helpful book which feels like the voice of a friend urging you on to a happy, successful life....highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Real, applicable, procrastination beating advice, made for normal people. It's essential reading!
If you're looking for a book that will help you find the best way to get through your procrastination then I can't recommend this book enough. Gemma is like a grand master at having tried every trick and hack to get around your procrastination, and in this book she details it all for you to take the bits that work best for you. Will it all be relevant? Probably not, but it is all interesting and relevant, and there will be at least a few tricks that will work for you.
If you think of your life like a big Domino Rally, when you procrastinate it's like there is a gap in your dominos and the flow stops. Well read Gemmas book and she'll help you kick it off again in no time. She's not going to come over and do all the work for you, you've already got all that potential in you, but it will simply help you get past the mental road blocks that are stopping you achieving your goals.
I can honestly say that if you read this book and find it is "useless", then either you're not being truthful to yourself, or you're perfect and should probably read a book on doing less in your life :)
As far as I'm concerned it's a no-brainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational
This book is so much more than a book on procrastination, it hits you in the feels and gets you to find out why you procrastinate in such a subtle, easy to use way. It's written in a way that not only inspires you to think about taking action, it actually makes you want to take action.
I have already found myself using some of the quick tips and I've probably got more done in the last few days than I have for a while. I am very excited to take the time to go through it again in more depth and do the work. Not only that but I know it is a book I will refer back to many times.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book for anyone who wants to get their life in order!
Gemma did a shout out to anyone who would be willing to read her book before it was published and given we were in lock down due to this wonderful virus, I was more than willing to do this for her. I got stuck straight in to it. This book is written for the reader, there's no crazy long ass words that you can't understand and it's very real life, some of which I have already implemented. I'll let you decide for yourself what you put in place 😉 Gemma is a fantastic writer and I had already purchased and read her self discipline book so I knew this one was going to be equally as amazing. Thanks again xx
