Discretion (Scattered Stars: Evasion Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,347 ratings

A crew, scattered across enemy lines
A father, separated from his daughter
A daughter who will not wait for rescue

The bounty for bringing down a major crime syndicate may have removed Captain Evridiki “EB” Bardacki’s immediate financial needs, but no freighter captain wants to fly empty between the stars.

A cargo mission to run a blockade seems within his crew’s unique mix of talents, and he agrees to supply weapons to one side of a stalemated civil war in the Estutmost star system.

The sudden collapse of the stalemate puts EB on the wrong side of the front lines from his adopted daughter.

He took down a crime syndicate to protect her once—what’s a planetary military or two?

EB takes a job running a blockade to supply arms to one side in a civil war. EB quickly learns it’s not only difficult to identify the “good guys” there may not be any good guys. There are also more sides than just the two he originally thought. An old nemesis emerges, further complicating the civil war and the fate of this system.

An entertaining read with great characters and plenty of plot twists.

I received an ARC and purchased my own copy to support the author.

Glynn writes terrific stories, but they have become difficult to read because of his use of nonsensical pronouns. A person is not they or them. A man who is XY and thinks he is a female should be HeShe and an XX who thinks they are male is a SheHe. Free speech, means I can not be compelled to participate in someone else's fantasy. A person who thinks they are Napolean can not compel me to call them Emperor.

Flynn Stewart's loyal fans are always delighted with his booka. This tale, #2 in what we hope is a series is a fast paced action focused on smuggling weapons into a world in the grips of a civil war and how.every plan they make goes.to poop when it.meets the enemy.
A.war nobody can win and no one can afford to lose.with the.crew.of the EVASION.stuck in the middle will keep fans.crying for more more.more.
Hope Stewart is listening to our lamentations!

A direct continuation of the initial book in the series. Enemies continue to hound EB and his new family and crew making peaceful trading increasingly difficult. Finally accepting a job to run a blockade with a load of armaments for one side in a planetary civil war, EB and crew attempt to do the correct thing only to be blocked repeatedly. Separated from his partner and daughter due to a suspicious viral outbreak, his hand is forced and he takes an increasingly desperate series of actions. The final pages of the book indicate that only more of the same is to come. Plenty of action and a strong story line highlight this second Scattered Stars tale with a less openly military bend.

This sequel follows the first book well enough yet at some point it fails to maintain the same level of interest as book 1. Decent character and plot development with some interesting new angles added, and some resolution of story threads by the end of this installment. Unsure if I retain sufficient interest to continue the series.

This is about a small ship that gets involved in major catastrophes. This is about a small crew, each running from dangerous pasts, who keep getting sucked into danger while trying to make a living on the edge of known space. Think Serenity, without the Western theme. Really good storytelling with real consequences for the crew. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

A great second book in the scattered stars universe. Keep it up and look forward to more adventures. Plus two more words because Amazon’s said so.

Another great read. I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one. Interesting plot with plenty of subterfuge and red Herrings to confuse the issue. An exciting read with lots of action. I have preordered the 3rd book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why the increasing Woke dogma?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 26, 2022
The author is a wonderful story teller and I believe I have read all his books.
    Having said that.
What I am beginning to find unnecessary and politically twee, naïve and irritating is the author's increasing need to inject the current bigoted Woke view of life into his stories that are set in the future.
It is the same as viewing an event or person from hundreds of years in the past using today's values as a simplistic Woke measure of right and wrong. Very politically correct
This is a view that many find disruptive and childish in its outlook.
Just stick to writing good stories without jumping on the Woke band wagon.
