- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2019It's been a while since I've ever read a "hate to love" romance, but this one really hit the spot.
Beau is not the typical "billionaire romance" love interest. I've never had such an interesting first scene of a book. He is hungover from partying the previous day, doesn't want to get in a private jet because of his bad memories about his parents' death in a plane, and has a panic attack in front of an airport. Then he goes to a drug dealer that he sees out of the corner of his eye to try to get something that would allow him to calm down and get on the plane. I guess I've never seen a vulnerable billionaire in a romance novel like this? It actually made me like him more. For once, the main character wasn't being a complete jerk to the main female character before falling in love with her 30 pages later! This book was off to a good start.
Cara was the one who hated Beau at first. He was supposed to be her big break, but he never showed up. Now, she decides to pretend to be a maid to try to get some dirt on him. Is he actually a drug addict, or is it something else? When she enters the room and he is actually friendly to her instead of treating her like a maid, she immediately knows that something is up. Beau might not be the man that the media is making him out to be. I loved the scenes where the two of them would just hang out with each other all day, making small talk and having fun in the small beach town.
I constantly wanted the pair to work out in the end. They had chemistry from the very start of the book, and it only increased as the story went on. They were friends first, albeit for a short time, and then they became a romantic pair. I could see that they would be a good long-term couple.
One of my favorite parts of the book was when Cara was with her friends. None of them seemed toxic, they all just wanted to support each other and have fun. They never left anyone out of the group, even if she had children and couldn't stay out as late as the other women. I want to have a group of friends as supportive as they were!
The last thing I want to talk about is how this book connects to the other book in the series. I won't spoil anything about that book, but you will see how the couple fares in this novel, along with a few tidbits about their lives after the book ended. You will also see how the town reacted to the resort, if they accepted it or not. I hope that this continues to the next novel, so I can see what happens to all these characters. Maybe it will be someone else from the friend group who ends up marrying a billionaire!
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new adult romance novel. It's also a clean romance novel!
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2018When Beau's movie star lifestyle begins to crash down around him due to a public panic attack, he runs to hide at the new Sweet Bay resort. While he seems to have everything life can offer including massive wealth and the adoration of millions of fans as well as a string of hit movies, Beau feels hollow and without purpose.
Cara is a small-town reporter, covering stories such as the new resort in town and the local summer festival. While she loves to investigate and write, she wants so much more. Always feeling unloved and underappreciated, Cara wants to make a splash in tabloid reporting and gain some attention for herself.
When Cara finds out that Beau has checked into the local resort, she lies and cheats her way into becoming his maid, hoping to gather some dirt that she can use to gain some tabloid notoriety. As she gets to know Beau, she realizes what a sweet and unassuming man he really is. She begins to realize that he is trapped in a situation similar to her own - he's lonely, without a supportive family around him. As she learns more about him, she realizes that she can't write a negative word about him.
Beau begins to fall for the sassy and outspoken maid. As he spends more time with Cara, he begins to believe there might be he possibility for something more than friendship or a quick hookup with her.
Both Beau and Cara are looking for a lasting and supportive relationship and begin to realize that they complete each other in ways that they couldn't articulate. They will have to find a way for their extremely different lifestyles to mesh if they're going to build something that lasts.
Beau is handsome, accomplished and surprisingly sweet and respectful of Cara. With that said, he is also strong and willing to be vulnerable to win his other half over. Cara brings a healthy dose of spice and sass to the story. Together, their chemistry and connection are undeniable, despite the PG rating on this romance.
Fans of clean romance, with strong female characters and sweet, respectful male characters will enjoy this story.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2018It is now 3am and I am in the hospital where I’m going to woken up in three hours for physical therapy. I don’t think the therapist will enjoy my excuse that I simply had to binge read the second of Rachel Taylor’s wonderful Sweet Bay Billionaires novels. For some reason my husband (aka Sir Snores-alot though he denies it) didn’t appreciate being woken so I could dictate this (even though he’s not really complaining - major brownie points earned). Anyway, let me just me just simply note that Stalking the Billionaire Celebrity was wonderfully superb. Now, I admit that billionaire romances have always been a guilty pleasure for me (though, for the record, I married my sweetie even though billions was not even the remotest of possibilities for us, short of a lottery win). This book is perfectly written and a lot of fun. Can’t to much better than that in my opinion. Great plot, great cast of characters and great writing. I’m glad I downloaded it and frankly I adored Cara and Beau’s story. It is deliciously romantic. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read
Only thing to do here is to fallen in love. First with book, and then with Beau and Cara (since you should already fall in love with Sweet Bay while reading other stories by same author). Cara is so sparkly and Beau is so lost. Sweet Bay is, well.. sweet, silent and nice place to be. Time for love, ready, set, read!
