Stormfire: An Epic Fantasy Adventure (Four Kingdoms: Origins Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 185 ratings

The ancient power that wiped the elves has returned... this time for mankind.

Fourteen-year-old Jaime Pappas dreams only of escaping slavery on the chilly alps of Mount Alairus. But when he discovers an extinct magic resurrected in him—the power to wield storms—the people hope in a new champion…

A champion the crowned usurper will kill at all costs.

Yet as Jaime races to master his impossible gift, it soon becomes apparent that this is not a simple war between the realm's last mages.

This is not a bitter war for a throne, nor deadly intrigue orchestrated by humans.

A terrifying, unseen evil is waking from the Age of Breakers, hungering to eliminate the last free mage. Jaime’s true foes are not who they seem—and he is running out of time to expose the very myth that purged the race of elves.

But defying blood plans millennia in the making will come at the cost of everything...

For all who ever dare look into the eye of the storm, and whisper its master’s name, always dies.

The third and final Breaking is about to begin.

Four Kingdoms: Origins takes place 3,000 years after the Realm Breaker series.

Jasmine Young is the nobledark fantasy author of over 15 titles to date.

When she was thirteen, she first dreamed of becoming published after devouring Eragon in a few days on Grandma's couch. As a once painfully anxious introvert, her exposure to fantasy started with hiding out in the library with a great book.

Thirteen years later, her tomboy dreams came true.

Today, she is known worldwide as a part time hermit and a full time rebel. She is also the proud mother of birds. The happy family currently lounges in Florida.

Her dragon rider series, Realm Breaker, sold over 20,000 copies within its first 1.5 years of publication. With a Masters degree from Columbia University, and experience hosting two podcasts and coaching writers of all ages, she was invited in 2022 to speak on stage to inspire and empower the next generation to achieve their dreams.

When she’s not reminiscing about her gaming days or getting lost in old epics like LOTR, Jasmine writes a blend of epic, romantic, and dark fantasy to entertain and empower, especially the underdogs.

Stormfire is the first book in the Four Kingdoms: Origins series and trust me - you're going to devour this book.
Normally, I complain - A LOT when books have a slow start and take their sweet time engaging me into the novel. While this book holds to that pattern of a slow beginning, just hang in there. It's going to get better. It's a slow process, but there is a point to it all in setting the stage, giving readers some background and building the story up before we run off to the races. I wouldn't have minded some more drama/action to spice things up a little sooner, but it's really worth it once the story finds it's footing and really gets going.
This book is a real page-turner once it gets going and definitely one worth checking out for readers who enjoy a good epic fantasy novel that will leave you wanting more.

So, this is an awesome story and I loved it. I'm sure this is going to be an epic series and I can't wait to read the whole thing. Even though it's YA and I don't read a lot of it. I was absorbed from the beginning. I had it on my Kindle for awhile and I'm glad I finally read it. The only reason I gave it four Stars is because of the editing. It was terrible in places. The wrong pronouns, repeating words, and a couple times there should've been a break because a whole new sequence would start and it wasn't there. That really threw me off at times. It would definitely be a five star book if not for that.

I hoped for something fresh, but instead I got the same old orphan is really the lost prince who must face the evil king. Luke Skywalker faces Darth Vader.
There were a few surprising moments, but I never connected with Jamie and felt all of his supposed connections of friendship and love happened too fast rather than organically.

Stormfire is a fast-paced debut novel that transports readers to a world divided, where Sages can control the elements and rulership of Kingdoms is by law only allowed to those who can control the element sacred to that kingdom. So why is a Fire Sage on the throne of the Air Kingdom?

If you guessed the reason involved treason and a lust for power, you’d be right. If you also guessed an unlikely hero was about to rise up, well, you’d be right again.

Jamian Pappas is a young teen raised in a poor mountain village. He is also a secret Air Sage, a fact sure to shorten his life if the usurper king learns of his power. But the world is about to catch up to Jamian and set him careening into a future he never dreamt of and certainly never wanted, where his asthma won’t be the only thing he has to battle in order to survive.

I loved the pacing of this book. It is nonstop action yet is still able to introduce us to a new magical world filled with imaginative beings and a rich historical background that affects the characters in ways large and small. If you enjoy fantasy and are always looking for new worlds to get lost in, this is definitely one you’ll want to visit!

As an avid fantasy/young adult fiction reader, I was blown away by the depths of the world that this author has created. I read the book in a weekend because it was impossible to put it down. From start to finish I was invested in the characters and and the story; and though I considered myself jaded to plot lines assuming everything was predictable...I was insanely thrilled and impressed that I never saw the last quarter of the book coming. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the universe expands even more. It's not just a story of friendship and adventure, it's a peek into the lives of epic hero's while they're still in the making. I am eagerly (though impatiently) awaiting the next in the series to come out.

Will recommend this book to my friends in the future! It’s fast paced, has a large world scale, a magic system powerful enough to affect geography and a dynamic plot. Can’t wait to read the others in the series.

I loved the story. It's exciting and fast paced throughout and you're eager to get to the end of it, but once you do, you're left wanting more and so onto the next book!!

It's a story about a Prince who has been in hiding his entire life and all because his father is going to kill him. Why?? Because some priests came to see him and foretold that his downfall will come from the hand of his son!! Cue murder and mayhem!!

The problem is, the Queen has taken her son and fled in order to save his life, but the King is not willing to have This prophecy to come to pass.

But what can be done with both wife and son missing. Well the hunt is now on and once he finds his wife, the Queen has already given her child to someone she trusts and they're both gone and to ensure he never finds their son and who she's given him to, she takes her own life!!

Ok so you'd think he'd leave it at that. However, he's not willing to wait for the year all this comes to pass, ohhh no he's not that stupid, instead he decrees that all boys born of the same year are to be killed!! And every year he sends his soldiers out to hunt for any boys of that age, just to be sure it will never come to pass.

All this happens right from the off and it's a fast paced relentless tale of a boy fighting constantly just to stay alive.

There's angst, loyalties, friendship, treachery, love and hate all the way through and so much more. It's about right and wrong. About growth, power and deceit. What more does anyone want in a book 😂😂

So if you're looking for a great read, you can't go wrong with this one!!
