Becoming a More Strategic Product Manager: Nine Lessons, Nine Days Kindle Edition
This book is set up in a series of nine lessons over nine days. In our Day 1 discussion, we’ll reorient ourselves toward the—often underinvested—strategic parts of our job. And we’ll talk through the non-core tactical areas of our work that we should gracefully shed.
From Day 2 through Day 8, we’ll focus on those areas of our jobs that we should lean into for maximum impact, those areas we should say an emphatic “yes” to. We’ll dive into customer needs, competitive analysis, strategy development, prioritization of development efforts, continuous discovery and delivery, pricing, and finding growth.
On Day 9, we’ll look at the full package—the practical steps you can take over the next three, six, and nine months to delight your customers, lengthen your competitive lead, and generate more than your fair share of profits.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018Todd's book really lays out simple, actionable strategies you can put to use right away. From customer and competitor analysis, strategy development, road mapping, pricing and much more, this book really shows how to approach product development from both a 30K foot strategic view down to interviewing individual customers/clients and properly documenting the findings. Most importantly for me, it's light on theory and heavy on practicality. I highly recommend to anyone looking for both strategic and tactical insights and methods for developing their products without all the fluff.

I found the book to be incredibly insightful on the initial read and find myself using it as a tool when my thinking gets "stuck" in the process of moving strategic actions forward. There are so many ways to think about the role of a product manager and Todd has created a reliable "roadmap" to help navigate through the chaos and confusion.

He helps lead you through the best practices and strategies of being a Product Manager and takes his advice from his real-life experiences. This is a quick informative read for a beginner or a refresher for a pro.
