About the author

I am married to my high school sweetheart who let’s face it, is a saint for putting up with me all of these years. Together we have been blessed with two amazing children and one unbelievably cute German Shepherd. I am an obsessive reader who is a complete sucker for a good love story, but loves to feel a broad range of emotions throughout a book. I think real life is hard enough so my books offer twists and turns, but always with a happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2020A lively, sentimental romance with extra thrills of a serial murderer, and a thief, too. No dull moments here.
Oliver is 22, a famous model, is stylish, wears eyeliner and light makeup, a beautiful/pretty man. His agent Korey keeps his schedule jam packed.
Advertising Executive, Samuel’s terrific daughter Brooklyn, is going away to college, and then he and Gayle can go their own ways.
Gayle’s friend runs a “key party” and Gayle and Samuel go to find a safe way to meet people. There, Samuel finds a beauty, Oliver, and each man cannot forget the other. The next party, they meet again, and leave to get to know each other.
Oliver understands that Samuel is finally ready to give in to his feelings for a man, but it’s only Oliver that excites Samuel. Their slow moving beginning is sexy and super hot. Emotions got deep and our men were deliriously happy.
So, we have Samuel’s coming out, Oliver’s empty account, a serial killer loose, and then more shocking news.
Samuel and Oliver are attacked....
This is tender and sweet, thrilling and scary, and we love every moment.
Younger/older, GFY, embezzlement, kidnapping, and more.
Highly recommended.
Enjoy !

- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2018Few things turn my crank more than femme dudes/manties/cross-dressing/androgyny so the blurb alone had me hitting the BUY NOW button like I was possessed.
When said femme twink isn't opposed to being IN CHARGE during the sexy times... superlatives fail me.
THEN! the author went and threw in a 15 yr age gap. Annnndddd... I am deceased. Send cupcakes. They could revive me.
Or not.
Samuel is a fantastic father and person. He and his wife Gayle made a careless mistake when they were kids themselves and wound up in an unfortunate situation. Both of them stepped up when their parents cut them off. They embraced parenthood, became best friends and forged a solid bond but they were never in love with each other. All of which comes to the fore when their daughter Brooklyn moves away for college.
I cannot stress enough how much I appreciated how this aspect of the book was handled. Gayle isn't vilified like so often happens in these stories. The way Samuel feels about her, his responsibilities as a father, his love and devotion to his daughter and the love that he has for both of them was touching to read. He's genuinely a kind person who can be fierce if someone tries to hurt those he loves. I like em protective. And growly. And someone brings out the growls in Samuel.
Gayle suggests they go to the swap party where he meets the lovely and beguiling Oliver.
Oliver is a model on the rise to superstardom but there's more to him than meets the eye. He is sassy and beautiful with his penchant for heels, makeup, fashion including the MANTIES!!! and the occasional set of earrings. He even has some unicorn jim jams!!! Awwwwwww 😍 But he longs for his person. He's effervescent and bubbly, surrounded by people who fuss over him constantly but he's lonely and has grown tired of "the scene".
He also has needs so he ends up at the swap party and the immediate chemistry between he and Samuel took him aback a little bit. At least that was my interpretation. We were in Samuel's head at the time so... *shrugs*
The first swap party while they do not end up together per se... what does transpire caused me to break out in a light sweat. Helloooooo exhibitionism, my old friend.
Given their reaction to one another and the events of the first swap party I figured they would punch their ticket to Pound Town with a quickness but they did not. They date, end up talking until dawn, texting and calling each other and staying on the phone until one of them falls asleep which allowed the UST to build. I was surprised to be sure, but given that Samuel is a virgin I liked that they didn't sprint into anal. The sexy is still pretty potent, though, with oral, BIG GUY BOTTOMING 🤩🤩🤩🤩, frottage, and rimming. There were some references made *cough*wearing heels during*cough*using a tie for non-business related activities*cough*spanking*cough* that I sincerely wish had made it on to the page. Maybe a follow up? *begging face*
I kind of want to call their relationship instalove but I also feel like I got a front row seat to watching them fall in love too so... It happens fast to be sure but I don't feel comfortable categorizing it as instalove. Both of them are free with their emotions, aren't afraid to cry in front of the other and the way they rely on each other equally, need the comfort of the other when stressors occur made me a lil gooey in my feels. So if you're averse to sweet, almost cloyingly sweet love stories this may not be your cuppa.
The only weak spot for me was the serial killer thing which is more of a blip in the narrative and mostly happens in the background but it... wasn't great. Mostly unnecessary IMO.
This is a new to me author but I will be on the lookout for her future releases.
Recommend to... you know who you are.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2018**Spoiler Alert** Samuel Bishop and his wife Gayle just sent their daughter off to college. They decided they're better friends than husband and wife. Oliver Hughes is one of the most sought after male models. Sam and Oliver meet at a swap party. Things heat up pretty significantly between these two characters from there, but there's more going on than that. There's also a serial killer on the loose and the victims have a scary resemblance to Oliver. I absolutely loved, loved this book. You get a little bit of everything with this one. Love, lies, murder! I'm a huge fan of Annabella Michaels and this one hit all my buttons. I love a good romantic suspense and you get a little bit of that in this book. Not to mention the fantastic chemistry between Sam and Oliver! So good!

I enjoyed The Swap. I thought the premise was a fun way for the 2 characters to meet- especially considering Samuel was apparently straight. At least he's presented himself that way since he's been married. We do learn a little more about that part of his life as the story goes along, and it helped to put into perspective his feelings upon meeting Oliver.
He and Oliver are definite opposites, as well as having a bit of an age gap between them, but I liked how they fit together. They complemented each other well.
I really liked Sam's wife and daughter- they were very supportive when he told them about Oliver. It was nice to see a couple able to acknowledge their differences and move on like adults, the way he and Gayle did.
The "sinister and dark" thing that threatened Oliver and Sam was a little too underdeveloped for me. It could have been a great addition to the storyline, if it had been given more "face time". But it just felt kind of thrown in there as filler, never really living up to its potential.
Overall, this was an easy read, a nice story about finding yourself and falling in love in the process.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2022Is the main theme of this story. A couple who married very young and raised a daughter together going off to college realizes they are better friends than husband and wife. Although there were some moments of suspense, the heart of the book is being accepted for who you are, love with your whole heart and realize how lucky you are. A shame more of this doesn't happen in reality.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice surprise

Oh well this was a nice surprise 😍
I love Annabella Michaels' style and when i found out she was about to release The Swap- Masquerade, i thought it was time to read this one, that's been on my kindle for more than a year i guess...
[Just to be clear the two books are stand alones]
The beginning of the story was a bit slow for me, so it took me a bit to connect with it...
However the moment Oliver and Samuel met, the chemestry, the sweetness between the two of them caught my attention and made me swoon and grin like an idiot.
What surprise me the most and hocked me to the book was the thriller part: i didn’t expect it at all but it made the story more interesting, and gave me that rush of adrenaline and "dread" i'm getting addicted to.

This is a first time reading this author for me, and I was impressed. I liked the set up of the story and how Oliver and Sam met at a swap party. It was a different set up and that really worked for me.
I liked that Sam and his ex wife Gayle communicated and acted like adults. There were no hurt feelings or jealousy just mutual admiration and respect. Neither shied away from their part in how they got together and neither resented it or regretted it. When they decided to split they did it while still remaining the best of friends which was nice.
I loved Oliver and Sam together, they were so well suited and I loved that even though they met at swap party they spent time navigating their relationship and getting to know each other before the intimacy came into play.
I was expecting the murder mystery plot and didn’t really pick the baddy until nearly the end, but I was also more invested in the relationship and wasn’t really paying that much attention to it.
Good book very enjoyable
