- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2015I loved this short story! I remember roller skating at the rink as a teen, the slow skate, lights low and music playing. This evoked a strong sense of nostalgia and had a sweet little romance too. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2018I really enjoyed reading this short story. It was very relatable. Perfect summer read. Any time, really. Any one who made mix tapes in the 90s (or 80s, lol) will appreciate this little nugget.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2015I read this short story as part of an anthology and loved it. Tracy Krimmer has become an auto buy author for me and I've devoured everything of hers that I could find. This story was sweet and took me back to my teenage years of recording mixed tapes from the radio. I didn't get to the rink often, but I spent many an afternoon rollerskating up and down my driveway.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2015Nice, sweet turning point in the main character's life set in one of my favorite places for a story--a roller skating rink. Fine writing with a good sense of real emotion. Writers are told to use the five senses. This story truly uses the audio sense in fun ways, reminding us of the music of the nineties.

5.0 out of 5 stars I feel like if I was to belong in any decade in ...
Mixtapes and Rollerskates is a short story for all those who know the 90s well. Angie is recently divorced. Owen has been a widow for a few years. Angie and Owen literally bump into each other at the skating rink for a charity event and get talking.
I feel like if I was to belong in any decade in the past century it would be the 90s. I was a 90s baby so my memories are of the good cartoons and Spice Girls (I was a huge fan). In fact my favourite genre of music is the 90s punk and grunge! So naturally I loved this story. It was so cute! There was love after loss, new beginnings and hope! Falling in love no matter how old is just as exciting as the first time!
