    Pretty sure these books are written by AI, the writing is so basic with very little world building or even character descriptions. Let me summarize the first book for you:

    Hero: All of my friends and I have PTSD and some even have physical scars—being ex-military can be rough! We’re all ex-elite military but you’ll never find out how/why/what happened because the author either got lazy or the editor got cut happy. Did I mention we’re all ex-military with trauma? Oh yeah, we work on a ranch and rescue animals because that shows what big softies we are but is also a manly job manly enough for ex-military, which we all are.

    Heroine: I’m all of 20 years old, blond, bland, and in Danger. I just love animals but barely know my boss after working on his ranch for a month. Once I go to dinner alone at his house with just him (which isn’t weird and doesn’t raise red flags at all) suddenly I’m wildly attracted to him and want some lovin’. Oh, no! Explosion! That’s right: the man I refer to as my ex-boyfriend but is really my ex-foster father/abuser because I couldn’t legally consent to the relationship has been hunting me down for two full years even though I’m as 3-dimensional and interesting as a blank piece of white paper. He found me again and blew up my car, that had all my earthly belongings in it.

    Hero: Even though I still barely know you and the lovin’ got interrupted, you’re staying here with me and I and all my ex-military friends who were in the military are going to protect you.
    Heroine: Wow! No one has ever done something like this for me before because remember I’m only 20 and the only life experience I have is running from a man who groomed and abused me for four years but I’m super ready to move in with you and become an animal rescuer!

    Hero: Come have some shower lovin’ with me.

    Heroine: Ok! Wow, that was better than anything I’ve ever experienced ever! Let’s go to sleep because I know nothing will ever hurt me while I’m protected by five manly ex-military men!

    Hero: Oh, btw, that breaking glass was probably your psycho-whatever-you-want-to-call-him trying to get to you. Nbd, we’ve set up a trap for him so let’s confront him, even though he’s tried to kill you already, and see if we can record him admitting to his crime. Then he’ll go to jail for a long time because we absolutely don’t want him to die; also don’t worry about this gun I have or the fact that my four ex-military friends are staking out this whole situation.

    Ex: ::proceeds to vomit up entire story that includes heroine:: Now I’m gonna kill her! ::bang!:: oh no, your ex-military friend who seems to be having serious PTSD issues right now that conveniently sets up the next “book” shot me dead! That’s okay, I’ve served my purpose.

    It here, I’ve saved you some time you’ll never get back. It could have been a real, interesting story if only it didn’t read worse than sparkly vampire fanfic and contained a similar amount of smut as the original book the fanfic is based upon.
