Roughed Up (Trophy Doms New York Book 4) Kindle Edition
When a millionaire’s shattered heart meets a musician’s shattered dreams, will love be enough to make them both whole again?
Alex
My friends say it's gone on long enough. Trying to lick the wounds of my most recent breakup in private isn't making me feel any better, so I begin the daunting task of trying to venture back into the dating pool. But after a series of misses, I wonder if the answer I've been waiting for has been in my wallet all along.
Dylan
Being offered money for my body from the gorgeous, motorcycle riding, and glasses wearing millionaire who keeps coming into my bar isn't the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Being cut off by my father and forced to choose between money and music is.
Walking away from a trust fund was hard, but trying to make ends meet is harder. Getting paid to do something I would have done for free feels like the easiest decision I'll ever make. But one night leads to another, and one customer to more, and suddenly, it's not so fun anymore.
Alex has offered me more than his money and his body. He's giving me ways to find worth, pleasure, and substance in a life that I thought I'd ruined. Through the pain of our past and the thrill of our present, it's impossible to not fall in love with him. But his secrets run just as deep as mine, and just because we can't stop it, doesn't mean love will ever be enough.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2025He truly didn't know what he was looking for. Both slowly pull towards each other and slowly see their relationship build
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2024From the very beginning of our New York Dom's stories we knew that Alex was going to have the deepest and most emotionally complex Journey of all the men. Dylan and Alex's struggles and the challenges that they face with their selves and with trying to forge a connection with each other did not disappoint. Honestly I think that this book has won the award of most tears cried out of all of Kate Hawthorne's books. In addition the spicy scenes left me in need of a bathtub made of ice, because yes they were so good they deserved a cliche comment just like that. Bravo to an exceptional, spectacular, amazing, hands down perfect end to such an incredible series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024I’ve loved this group of friends from Book 1 and eagerly looked forward to each release. But Alex and Dylan definitely own the top spot! I want shared feelings more than angst. I want action more than longing. I want insta more than holding back. This book delivers!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2025Alex, the last of for friends, meets his match with Tates best friend and apartment mate, Dylan. Both men come for money, but when Dylan is cut off from his parents funds, he's spirals hard and fast. I'll take a special kind of handling that only Alex can provide to bring him out of his despair and into a love that lasts.
Great ending to the series. Truly enjoyed reading all of these books.
Hot, spicy, loving, angst.
KU, contemporary, book in a series, BDSM, Dom/s, spanking, breath play, cleaning kink.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025I am speechless at how perfect Hawthorne has ended the Trophy Doms series. Alex and Dylan were heart-wrenching. We knew Hawthorne was going to "rough us up" but the complex, emotional journey we are taking is everything. Hawthorne always works kink beautifully into the relationship characters have with each other. It is always individual and works specifically for that couple. Dylan learns so much about his submission. I love how characters from all the previous Trophy Doms are woven into the story and resolve some of their inherent issues. It is a hard-worn HEA. Hawthorne makes her characters hurt in all the best ways. As readers, we are better for it. There were moments I gasped out loud- especially as Alex learned his boundaries and navigated the complexity of his relationship with Dylan. We get to experience the emotional and angst-filled journey that takes both Dylan and Alex to each other. Truly the whole series is a must-read- as is the LA Trophy Doms. Every time I thought I had a favorite- I was wrong. You'll be sorry if you don't jump in a read these amazing books!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024Knowing what I did of Alex and of Dylan going into this, I expected their story would be rough in all definitions of the word, but I didn't know the full intensity of the emotional journey they would BOTH have to go on to reach their happily ever after. It was fierce and passionate from start to finish, and what a privilege it was to watch.
This story is uniquely and beautifully Hawthorne with rich, full-bodied characters experiencing a range of emotions, never sparing a sentence for idle small talk. Instead, every word was a test of their hearts and of mine, every sentence had a pointed purpose, a meaning, layered with depth and context. It somehow both a simple story and so, SO complicated because Alex and Dylan are so, so complicated and figuring out what they each need and getting it from the other, written by Hawthorne's hand, makes a 5* star novel.
My heart feels... worn out in the best way. I've FELT everything and emoted physically at the overwhelming flood of emotion that surges between Alex and Dylan, their pasts leaving deep grooves in their hearts that they're only just now learning to fill in with each other.
It's an impossibly moving story that's ALSO intensely spicy with dozens of textbook kinks that have been MOLDED into the desires and the needs of these two characters to not only feel fulfilled but to let out all the intensity of their emotions.
Other than saying Alex and Dylan's tale was PAINFULLY beautiful, I can't try to describe how much I loved it. This is a masterpiece.
Check your trigger warnings and buckle up, but if you're in for the long run, get ready for one of the best BDSM M/M romances you'll ever read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2024The conclusion to this Trophy Doms series is just as powerful as all of the other books in both series. In this one, bitter and hurt trophy dom Alex get his HEA with Dylan. Alex is still healing from his breakup with his friend and former lover, Beamer. He's come a long way, but he's still withdrawn from his friends group.
We've caught glimpses of Dylan previously, but in this book we learn more about the fact that his wealthy father cut him out of his life after Dylan refused a business career to make his life in music. Dylan doesn't have the monthly allowance he was used to receiving and, although he's a bartender, he's had to rely on escorting to make ends meet. Dylan goes through life, hurt from a life of parental love always being conditional, with only glimpses of the life he wanted.
When Alex and Dylan first interact, it is transactional in nature. Neither expects to see the other again, although it was a transformational experience. They couldn't stay away from each other, though. This book is a journey from pain to healing and from parts to whole. Along the way, Dylan learns much about his own submissive nature. Their S/M kink matches perfectly and their play is rough. As the story progresses, the friends group itself seems to heal and draw closer together. Alex and Dylan find forever love and a great HEA.
