- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2022I really loved this story. It was well written as only Ava Harrison can do. The story is of this billionaire who comes from a wealthy family the Lawson's. Drew Lawson was the owner of a upscale club that everyone loves to come to. Then there is Bailey Jameson, gorgeous, girl next door locks, beautiful although she does not seem to know it. Bailey is a recovering addict who needed a job, so her sister, Harper, who is a District attorney, her boyfriend asks Drew to give her a job because he didn't want her moving in with him and her sister. Bailey definitely should not be in an environment where there is drinking and sometimes other things because she has an addictive personality. There were so many colorful characters which you expect but really not. I loved Bailey and Drew's story and would highly recommend this book. I just love the way Ava weaves a good love story. It is a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021Life is a struggle. For some more so. A story of overcoming addiction and finding unconditional love.
Bailey turned to drugs and alcohol to mask her pain of feeling unloved and the loss of her father. She’s gotten her life back on track, but she needs a job desperately.
Her sister’s fiance hooks her up with a waitressing job at the hottest club in NYC. Not an ideal job for an addict in recovery, but she’s desperate.
Drew Lawson is the club’s owner. She never expected to feel an instant draw to her new boss. Her life is complicated enough, but Drew feels it too. He’s not going to make it easy for her to resist.
Banging the boss is never a good idea, but it’s going to unleash a whole slew of obstacles.
Drew is hard working but private. You’ll learn more from his actions than his words. He’s got his own baggage weighing him down and too many secrets that he’s keeping so that Bailey doesn’t run the other way.
Bailey struggles. She wants to be healthy and move on from her past, but she fights her demons daily. She is strong, yet she let’s her poor self image and always believing the worst, to lead her down a dangerous path. I wanted to see her grow a little more and make more mature decisions. She continued to follow the same routine eveytime something went wrong.
The story is full of emotional turmoil and drama. An addict doing her best to start fresh, all the while falling in love with a man tormented by a terrible loss. It was a bit repetitive with Bailey’s reactions but it did remind us the importance of second chances (sometimes third) and the unconditional love of family. 3.5 Stars
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2025I've read quite a few of Ava's books but I struggled to finish this one. I don't like giving a bad review so I'll just say I've enjoyed her other books more.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023I liked this story. It was heart breaking at times but worth the read. I love the chemistry between Drew and Bailey. The book was written well and the characters were described beautifully.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021Bailey's desperate - she needs a job so she won't be homeless. She's a sober addict, though, so not just any job is healthy for her. Too bad the job she's hooked up with is at a club. Yep. But, beggars cannot be choosers, and she's desperate like I said.
When she sees the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on at the club and finds he's Drew, her new boss, she's rattled. She's not looking for a man or a relationship, especially with her boss. But the two cannot seem to keep themselves away. Will her past and his demons keep them from finding happiness together?
I wasn't expecting Tempted to be quite so emotional. I should have considering Bailey's a sober addict, but I guess I wasn't expecting Drew's demons, too, the combination was heavy at times. But I loved the two together, and I especially loved Bailey. She's strong, she's tough, and she's a sweetheart. She weathered a lot - loss, addiction, about to be homeless, to name a few. But through it all, she persevered and came out on the other side even stronger for everything. Drew was not my favorite guy at first, I will admit, but he completely redeemed himself well before the end. I think my favorite part about him, aside from his serious hotness, was how much he loved Bailey. Their chemistry is positively fire and I loved reading their journey.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2023Awe the ups and down dramatics between Drew and Bailey is endearingly remarkable! Don't feel the Off-the-Chart sensual, sexy, romance love between the two. But, they both share demons they have to overcome. Drew is beyond supportive to Bailey, a recovering drug addict. Because of this women especially , Monica, a devious, woman, who plans to steal Drew at any cost, by destroying Bailey😱 Love can concur all🤗 Action feel drama!!!! With the love of your life, Drew, family and friends to save the day🤗 Did I mention Reese, who plans and does hurt Drew by way of Bailey plus other things and ways😵
Such a heartfelt, sexual, romantic love story. I couldn't put my Kindle down!!!🤗😍😊
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2021I really enjoyed this book about Drew and Bailey. Two very tortured individuals. Bailey was such a beautiful person. No matter what happened go her she got right back up. Drew living with guilt. Two people that found each others to fight their demons. I had never read anything by Ms. Harrison but this book just drew me in. Fantastic read!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2022Not my favorite by Ava Harrison but it wasn’t bad. The writing was well done and the story was good. Fair warning when she mentions possible triggers in this book there are multiple drug references and if you have struggled with drug use it may trigger. I have this one a 4 because it seemed like it dragged on. Bailey’s character is a mess almost from beginning to end and the communication between these two seemingly adults is not the best. Again, not my favorite by this author but I’ve read far worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found it quite boring
I hate to say this because it’s rude when someone puts their effort in and produces a book, but i found it soo boring and dull. The way Bailey kept jumping to conclusions and running away was boring and repetitive. They had no chemistry after they got into a relationship, it was all a bit off.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missed the mark
I'm a huge Ava Harrison fan, love the angst, alpha males, chemistry and sex.
This really missed the mark for me. It was very pedestrian and I thought her and Carter were a better match - they certainly shared more. I nearly gave up several times and ended up skipping a big chunk... won't stop me reading more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Angsty and interesting
Standalone contemporary romance dealing with serious issues, such as substance abuse, pills and alcohol addiction.
I was a bit overwhelmed by this love story between Bailey, a recovering addict and Drew, survivor of substance abuse.
I appreciated the obvious in-depth research on the topics related in this book. It made for a raw and relatable story.
Bailey is fragile. She has been clean for 2 years and she tries to keep her head above water as best she can. Due to lack of money, she starts working in a club owned by Drew. Their attraction is instantanious but their relationship is toxic, filled with half truths. It was hard to read Bailey's internal monologue, her lack of trust and to understand how easily one can slip back into the habit without a firm support system in place and real rehab.
I was a bit confused at times about where the story was going and how it was evolving. And at times the sexy dialogue was a bit cringy. This book is only mildly sexy, the plot revolving more around addiction and it's consequences than anything else.
Overall it was an interesting, really angsty book.

I love a strong male character and enjoy the POV changing from male to female in this story. Another great read. Enjoy

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright, but..
OK so I started this with a good feeling, I'd read the reviews and the premise and it seemed like my thing, and it was; until it wasn't. Thing is, I feel like this book went downhill when the main mcs got together, their communication to each other, despite that we knew what they were thinking, didn't gel. Their first sexy time was kind of a let down both in description and story. The way that went would've had me feeling the same as Bailey and rather than explain what he was thinking he kind of acted like a douche, then he bought someone to the club, it just didn't mesh for how she said she feels about him because thus far there was no reason to. Anywho, once they figured it out, again the sex was lacklustre and didn't feed my thirst for details quenched because it didn't match the tension between them, also it got sort of cheesy. Not to mention Bailey seemed to go from mature recovering addict to an immature impulsive girl jumping to conclusions and that for me was the real shame. Because she was built up as this character who despite her hardships was really trying and doing well, then just to squeeze more of a story out of it, the author decided that it would make sense to write that in less than 15 mins she went and got drunk and passed out and apparantly in his own club, drew couldn't find her in time and Carter couldn't stop her, it was really stretching it beyond realistic and there are quite a few scenes that seem to jump at that same type of pace. Which again let the story down, because how come she says she's never truly dealt with her problems? What about the last 2 years and how she got there? Her sister was always on her case but after the 30 day rehab everyone's proud... and thats that. It just didn't fit. Like harpers resentment towards drew, it vanished after 1 statement from him at the hospital and she goes from accusing him of doing it before, to telling him its not his fault and he shouldn't be going through it again? I mean come on. Keep a level realistic pace. Last but not least, I'm almost pretty effing sure both mcs have a mother called alta. WTF lol its like the author liked the name and forgot she gave it his mum before she got a few chapters later and thought oh il call it her mum. I give it 3 stars because while there is some issues I don't like in this book, the premise and the way she tries to tell of how addicts struggle etc was on point and it kept me reading until 80 percent. Also there seemed to be no grammar mistakes which is a pet peeve if mine
