The Edge of Redemption: A Hate to Love Romance (The Edge Series Book 3) Kindle Edition
All he wanted to do was feel her again, and the pills always helped. That is until they didn’t. Being forced to open up about his feelings is now his life. His newest distraction is this stranger in town with pink hair and an attitude problem who’s tormenting his mind while slowly bringing him back to life.
One look at AJ, and you’d think she has everything together, but things aren’t always as they appear. After leaving home at 18 to forge her own path, she’s pulled back to her old life by the death of her sister and brother-in-law, now being the only next of kin for her 7-year-old orphaned niece.
With her heart still aching to be free, she now fights the courts for custody of her niece, desperately trying to go back to the life she had. The only problem with her plan is the attractive asshole in the grief support group that she hates with every fiber of her being but who also feels like home.
To an onlooker, these two Grumpy Gus’s are the definition of toxic, but as fate would have it, they’re partnered together to complete their healing journeys.
With darkness around every corner, will the stars align on their road to redemption?

- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2022Absolutely LOVED The Edge of Redemption. Cannot recommend it enough. I will be talking about this book, and the series, for quite some time. Kristin Turnage has created this little world that I am obsessed with. These characters have drawn me in, and I am so thankful that I am able to know their stories.
If you are someone who likes characters who have been through a battle, and are still fighting to get out, then run and grab this book now. PLEASE!
Oh and also, I recommend having the tissues close by. This book will hit you in the feels, and the tears will fall. Especially as Jace shares about Bailey, as AJ shares about her sister, and as Beatrice (Belle) processes everything that's happened.. It's just a lot. It's fabulous, and totally worth it though.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022"It's hard to grieve someone who's already been dead to you. The day my sister chose the life she wanted to have over me, was the day that she died. The accident that took them away from this world was just the final piece of the puzzle."
AJ's life is turned upside down with the death of her sister and brother-in-law. She's not sure she's ready to handle the niece who was left without parents. But she knew she would step up. No way would she allow Beatrice to go into the same foster care system that destroyed her. Foster parents who made it clear she was not wanted and pushed her desire to head out of town the moment she turned 18.
Jace's loss is too big. It's bigger than he can manage and happened while he was too young to try. After losing his childhood love, he can't get past the darkness. So much so that he tries more than once to stay in the darkness.
AJ and Jace shouldn't work - that's for sure. They have more than one negative run-in. Yet, everything about them does work. The heartaches they share, the losses they've been through - those are just a fraction of what brings them together.
This is my first read by this author. I haven't read others in the series, but this stood on its own just fine. That being said, I liked it so much, I'll be going back to read the first two.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2022I found Kristin on tiktok. And knew I had to start this series. Each book is better than the one before. But this one… this one killed me. I love a good heart-destroying story. And man did she give you one. 100% recommend. 10/10.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2022Jace and AJ were worth all of the tears spilled over my kindle. There may be some water damage...but again worth it. I am in awe of Kristin's writing and the way she was able to take these beautifully broken characters and make them whole again, right before my eyes. She healed them in a way that felt so real, so raw, I almost forgot they were fictional characters.
"Grief is the master teacher, and if you choose to learn, you can experience love, acceptance, and peace but if you choose not to listen, you run."
Jace has been blinded by his own grief for a long time, struggling to find meaning to his life after the loss of his girlfriend. He's hid the pain well though, or so he thinks until finally it becomes too much. He just wants to be free again like he once was. See his firefly girl again and feel the sun on his skin one more time. When he as no other choice but to suffer through a grief support group he meets the infuriating, tattooed, pink haired, AJ.
AJ has one thing on her mind and that's getting her and her now orphaned niece back to California but the only way the courts are going to let her get custody of her is if she can appear to be stable and fit to care for her. She doesn't need a grief support group but she'll do whatever she has to to keep the only family she has left out of the system, she knows all to well of. but the universe has a funny way of putting you right where you need to be, even if it's the last place you want to be. She hates this town and the sexy grump she can't seem to avoid.
"I've been trying to convince myself that I need to go, but I want to be here, with you, because you're what I've been searching for."

The Edge of Redemption was the perfect fit for my reading rut. After a few light-angst books in a row, this darker storyline was what I needed. There's nothing like broken souls finding and trying to mend each other. The blurb says it all, however it's in the details with these characters.
Jace and AJ have different kinds of past trauma and end up in grief counseling for different reasons other than for themselves. AJ is there for her seven year old niece and Jace is there for his entire family. Neither one thinks they need to be there and don't realize it's the best thing to happen to them in years.
"You find the beauty in what the world deems useless or unimportant."
Along with tortured souls, this book is a bit of an opposites attract. I loved the free spirit AJ molded herself into due to her upbringing and how it contrasted with the rigid Jace. These two completed each other in more ways than one. It's a struggle chapter after chapter dealing with the past and present, buried feelings and complete despair. While it didn't seem so on the surface, this couple had instant chemistry.
"I'm not okay," I whisper.
"Me either," she whispers back.
They aren't ok and that's okay. The book is well written and heavy. Not dark and not necessarily angsty, but heavy with some light for a nice balance. I loved these characters, as well as the family members we meet that round the story out. The Edge of Redemption reads well as a standalone, however I think I'm going to check out the first books in the series.
