The Bastard Heir (Winter Harbor Heroes Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 369 ratings

I'm the heir to a secret family fortune, facing down brothers I hate, and trying to get back the one that got away ...

Eight years ago, she broke me.

Her secrets drove a wedge between me and my brother that can never be fixed.

Now, with my life in shambles, I’m forced by the ludicrous demands of my dead father to face the one woman I ever loved, and the brother I can not stand.

I need the money. But a year is a long sentence to serve in a house with people I hate, and in a town that hates me.

A year is a long time to dodge Harlow Jackson and the eyes and smile that made me fall harder than I’ve ever fallen before.

But it only takes days to show me that what happened eight years ago was a mistake. Now I need every last second of the year ahead to convince her to take a second chance on us.

***This is the first book of the Winter Harbor series which features a quirky small town, secrets galore, and three estranged brothers who find the key to healing comes from the women who steal their hearts.

A good story of reconciliation among family members and lovers. Can someone have one true love in life or is that just a fairy tale?

These two were able to overcome many trials and tribulations in their lives. What each had to overcome were not anything anyone would want to. Life’s obstacles were none to friendly. The love deep down was able to drag them through it all. A tumultuous relationship that had an equal amount of hurt and love suffered through to the end. Sex was off the wall and everywhere in between. Great read!

This was a great story. I enjoyed how they got together, then split three times before the finally got it right. I feel like most romance readers will like this too.

Harlow had Callum had history, but both handled handled the rough patch badly. The winter men were forced back into town. Turned out Harlow waa the attorney handling situation.

Too much was missing from this story. What was behind the door at the side of the house? Was his mother his real mother? For me, the book was incomplete.

I read it out of order though but it was fine. Loved Harlow and Callum. Really enjoyed discovering the beginning of the Winter Bros of Winter Harbour. Harlow’s role in executing the will of their father was a very nice segue to meeting Callum and his brothers. I simply can’t wait for all the family secrets to be discovered because that secondary plot is as satisfying as the romance itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read!

I enjoyed The Bastard Heir. I thought the plot was well done and i really liked the main and supporting characters. I liked Harlow and thought she was such a strong woman, she had over come and fought through a lot and i just thought she was a great person in general who loved her family, friends, job and town as a whole. I really enjoyed seeing her career tied into it and her fighting to get that promotion boss chick right there! I liked Callum too although thought he could be a bit abrasive sometimes. The way he was raised you could tell it was impossible for him to understand what a town could mean to someone or even wanting to live near family. He eventually understood though whilst getting to know his brothers, talking to people, being in the town and i think Harlow taught him a lot. There romance was hot and you could tell the love they had for one another was fierce and forever. I enjoyed the supporting characters and am interested in seeing what happens with Carson and Colton.

A good read that is a wee bit long winded at times. Three disconnected brothers who were part of a dysfunctional family inherit their legacy if they live in a town that hates their guts. Add in a reconnection with an ex and there’s a good storyline. Good read but story continues in second brothers romance.
