Lena Matiz is a singer-songwriter whose music combines the influences of gothic rock, metal, and folk. To date, she’s released an album with her band The God Fairies, a couple of romance books, and a 300-page guidebook titled Unleash Your Inner Rock Star.
Writing came early to Matiz in the form of poems, stories and novels, stashed throughout her family's home during her childhood. She often found an escape from reality in the pages of a good story and in writing fictions of her own.
Lena has held various day jobs – she’s been a waitress, housekeeper, tutor, economist, marketing manager, event producer, and more. She also traveled extensively, including long backpacking trips in which she lived for years on limited means – one pair of jeans, two t-shirts, a warm jacket, and a pair of hiking boots.
Lena’s music could be described as "the love child of hard rock band Halestorm and folk duo First Aid Kit." Expending upon her musical inspirations she shares, "My music taste is all over the place. I love metal, the raw rage in the genre has helped me cope with negative feelings ever since I was a teenager. I also love the sweetness of folky vocal harmonies and find them soothing. I guess the music I make is somewhere in the middle between the two."
The variety of Lena’s artistic pursuits had led to the creation of the book Unleash Your Inner Rock Star. Through the book she aims to inform and inspire anyone, regardless of their level of musical experience or where they are in life, to pursue their musical dreams.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2019I like romance books, and I read quite a lot of them, but mostly, in rock star romance books, I don’t really relate to the protagonist. She’s often depicted as this super cool/super hot girl, and it’s hard to relate. In this book, we know a lot about the protagonist, and we also know what she wears, but we don’t know if she is tall or short, skinny or fat, etc. She is far from perfect, has her insecurities which are rooted in reality (unlike other romance books I read in which all the protagonist’s insecurities stem from a heart break in the past or a bad relationship with a father figure). So as I was reading, I could see myself in her which made the book much more appealing to me. Five stars for that.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2019This book comes from an anonymous author who seems to be new to the genre, I noticed it but wasn’t quick to read it. Then I decided to give it a try and am very happy I did.
The author takes us through the emotional journey of Kelsey, the protagonist, a journey that is like a roller coaster. With each additional chapter I read, it was as if I was peeling another layer on my way to finding who the guys really were, who Kelsey really was.
The author skillfully describes delicate emotional situations, conflicting wants, and deep and multilayered characters. I’ll be looking forward to reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021Perhaps this is a new author? I didn't bother to research. The writing is bland, the editing is horrible, and the characters were boring. I had to force myself to finish. Not hot. Not suspenseful. I could not visualize any of the characters because there are zero descriptions of them other than Darren and his "photo" is on the cover!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2019I definitely liked this book. People who like rock star romance and love triangle romance will most probably be interested in reading “The Fall”. This book was very well written by Veronica Kingsley. It has a lovely recommended soundtrack list along with songs and authors, which I found it a very original idea. These songs give us a better feeling of the entire story. I give this book 5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2019This was totally amazing! <3 I couldn't put it down, and I absolutely loved the chemistry between the characters. The plot flowed easily, the characters were relatable, and I loved the whole book!
Well done, Ms. Kingsley! I absolutely loved it, and you should read this and give it a chance!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2019Easy to pick up, hard to put down. Kingsley hits the beats of the romance genre while also twisting character expectations enough to keep things unpredictable. Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2019If you like the genre, this book is definitely for you. One confused girl, three hot rock stars...
The plot picks up early on as Kelsey moves back to her home town and falls into depression; then her life becomes entangled with the band and she goes through an emotional roller coaster. Won’t add spoilers here but there is a happy ending.
