The Shark: ShudderCon Las Vegas 5 Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 86 ratings

An idealistic writer. Her jaded idol. Four days in Vegas that will change their lives forever.

This weekend is Sabrina Grace’s last chance at success.

She’s written dozens of tv manuscripts but she’s got a bad habit of burning bridges. No one in the industry will read her scripts anymore, and if Sabrina can’t sell one at ShudderCon, her dreams are officially dead.

She’s got a boring new desk job waiting for her come Monday morning, so she’s determined to make every minute of the convention count. And the first thing Sabrina does is trip head-long into an elevator with tv writer Evelyn Green, the so-called Shark in a Pantsuit who happens to be Sabrina’s idol.

Her former mentor.
Her unrequited love.
The ice queen who hates her because the last time they spoke, Sabrina was busy torching her career
and their budding romance to protect a painful secret.

Can Sabrina rebuild this bridge and convince Evelyn to give her a second chance – at love as well as her dreams - or will it all go up in smoke?

Crowds, cosplay… chemistry - it’s all happening for these lucky ladies. Six lesbian romance authors have teamed up to bring you love: convention style in the brand new ShudderCon series.

The House by Lily Craig
The Payoff by Sienna Waters
The Show by Hildred Billings
The Bluff by Kate McLay
The Shark by Cara Malone
The Longshot by Anna Cove

Hi, I'm Cara.

I write lesbian fiction with drama, depth and plenty of heat, including the bestselling Lakeside Hospital medical romance series, romantic suspense Fox County series, and Rainbow Award honorable mention The Beginning of Everything.

My books are for you if you're a fan of contemporary romance, if you love strong women who aren't afraid to also be vulnerable, and if you like a little heat with your love stories.

Okay, my favorite of the stories in this collection. No "coming out" from behind the mask this time. I think the author used the setting well... The characters are plugged in, with a purpose to be there (including "off screen" drama that adds fresh seasoning to the convention idea). Just that turn from "oh so happy to be here" to "this is going to be a disaster" really did help. The first story (about the hotel owner) almost had that, and is probably the second best story of the five I've read so far... but this one was better. It gave you more real-feelings about the characters' reasons for being in that space and time, beyond the "oh I'm happy to go to a conference" story.

I like that the two had a history before this story. It made up for the "lust at first sight" requirement that drives relationship stories that happen over a few short days. Again, other stories in this collection did this to an extent, but this author did it better.

Good drama, good use of the setting, and an enjoyable setup for the two characters. I haven't read book 6 yet, but this has been the best so far.

I have enjoyed this book with the Shark aka Evelyn and the young screenwriter Sabrina and how they been missing each other for 5years.

The screenwriter has been trying to get her foot in the door ever since her Father was diagnosed with A. L. S. disease. An screenwriter on another show has been trying to mentor her. Things do not get better for the mentor when she finds out her own show has been cancelled. Good writing from the author.Enjoy!

This story was so good I literally read it in two days. Malone plunges you headfirst into the world of ShudderCon and gives us two women that are fun to watch along their journey back to each other and the dreams they left behind. Pick this one up with the others in the series and get the true experience of ShudderCon from all angles.

LOVE Sabrina’s energy. She takes life as it comes and does so unapologetically!!! Lesbian relationships are so intriguing. Would love to be in one.
    Peace

It was a quick, most definitely enjoyable reading! The whole plot was fun to follow. Both MCs got my sympathy even the one to scr*w up. And I really didn't see it coming.

The only thing that felt a bit out of place to me was the "in love" bit. I mean it was realistic in theory and practice but I don't think it translated as true that well, feeling sort of premature, even though knowing how long they knew each other and their past it'd make sense. But that probably is on me.
