New York Times bestselling author, K.N. Lee invites you to join Evie on her quest to save her family and her freedom in this bestselling paranormal romance.

Wizards. Shifters. Sexy mobsters with magic.

Welcome to Westerly Creek, where one family of wizards gives new meaning to organized crime. Evie Scarlett is a young prophet who yearns for an escape from her family's bitter rivalry with another crime family. This time, she may be the only one who can save them.

The arrival of Avalon Prince brings a century-old feud to a dangerous climax. Scottish Old-World magic, mixed with a dangerous obsession with Evie and a sinister plot for revenge threatens to bring the Scarlett family to its demise. Evie always knew that evil was coming to Westerly Creek. She just never expected to be so attracted to him.

**This is a standalone novella. No cliffhangers.**

**Contains themes of obsession, mild violence, and adult content.**
Praise for The Scarlett Legacy "WHAT A THRILL, that first chapter, damn... then it just continues on. A dangerous crime boss goes down, the only heir returns, a century old feud, shifters, wizards & secrets, all wrapped up in this delicious book. I honestly couldn't put it down, I NEEDED to find out what happens & then WOW, I so didn't expect that."- Kristy Heinicke (Book Likes)

"This one is also kinda a mob like situation, but with some seriously twisted moments. Man, this was intense, but oh so good. I could not put this one down. With a seriously cool shifter, some magic, some wizards, and some creepy mob people, I loved it. And I loved the ending, I was totally not sure Evie would get a HEA at all. She earned it though. And sometimes, bad people are bad people, and sometimes good people can do bad things. It's a vicious cycle. But it made for a great story, and the writing was AWESOME!! I will be looking into more of this author's work as well. 5 PAWS!"- Happy Tails and Tales Grab your copy of this bewitching thriller today!

K.N. Lee hits it out of the park with this newest book. Westerly Creek is full of supernaturals, wizards, witches and others. Evie Scarlett is part of a wizarding 'mob' family, though up until recently she has had little part in any of those activities. Her mother, Wesley-her older brother, a wizard and his wife Olivia--a shifter have been handling any nefarious activities against their enemies (mainly the Prince family) since the death of Evie's father. All of these activities have placed Evie in the headlights of the last member of the Prince family--Avalon, newly arrived in Westerly Creek. Evie and Quinn, her (human) best friend are college students and meet Avalon at a local night spot. Despite being sheltered from the worst activities of her family and others, Evie begins to "feel" the vibes of the otherworldly menace in the town and takes solace in her relationship with friend Quinn and forever boyfriend and fiance Parker. But bad actions always have consequences and Evie, despite her inner strength, must 'man-up' and work to protect herself and those she loves. Great story that will hold your rapt attention from the first page and you won't know where it's headed until the end! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Evie is in a family of wizards, mafia and shifters. It doesn't go into much min life only that her family is blamed for the death of the Prnce? Families Mother to cancer.
Avalon Prince comes to town and cursed he!e brother and hurts her sister in law leaving Evie with. I choice but to go to him. I'm exchange he will. Break the curse.
I think the story is a little short on action and emotional and could not figure out how they could give her to Avalon without more fighting. Usually when I read a book it leaves me with wanting to read the next one but did not get that here.

Readers are introduced to the Scarlett clan via Olivia Scarlett, cunning shape shifter and wife to Wes. Olivia cleverly shape shifts into a spider to administer a lethal dose of venom into rival Mafia boss Hugh Prince. Meanwhile, innocent Evie Scarlett is going about her life, trying to fit in as a small town college girl, hopelessly in love with her longtime boyfriend Patrick Drake. Enter mysterious and devious Avalon Prince, who has come home from Scotland to bury his father. Will bygones be bygones or will Avalon and Wes battle to the death in a power struggle for crime control? Will Evie end up being the pawn in Avalon’s reprehensible plan?

I almost stopped reading this book at the very beginning because I spotted several typos very early on. I don’t have patience with poorly edited books, but I was willing to keep going. Admittedly, the story was good. It kept me interested and reading on, and I continued to stick with it. However, the typos kept coming and for that reason alone I’ve been forced to deduct a couple of stars. The book is only 108 pages, but it contained far too many mistakes. Perhaps a re-edit is in order.

The plot, for the most part, was unique and well crafted. However, I was left with more than a few questions. I didn’t think the characters were as well developed as they could have been. The ending seemed a bit rushed to me. This is not a bad book, it’s just not as great as I’d hoped it would be. It had a lot of potential, but just fell short for me.

Hugh Prince's son comesback to town after his dad is killed in prison for killing her father. Avalon Prince is set on revenge as much as her own older brother is and she is caught in the middle.

This is the first book in the Shifters of Westerly Creek series. This can be read as a standalone but the ending is open the next book in the series. There is violence and magic.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. There are clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. Overall it is an interesting storyline and worth taking the time to read. I look forward to reading more of KN Lee's books.

“Evie always knew that evil was coming to Westerly Creek. She just never expected to be so attracted to him.”

Evie’s dad is killed then her brother thinks he wiped out the rival Prince only to find that, oops, he missed one. That’s Avalon Prince, who decides to bring the whole century-old feud to a conclusion the most efficient way which, you guessed it, ain’t one that’s exactly healthy for the Scarlett Family. Darn-it that Evie ends up being so hooked on him...

If that sounds like the makings of a pretty good mobster story with romance elements you’re right. Then add in that this is actually fantasy/paranormal, with magic, wizards, werewolves, shifters and assorted others. KN Lee is s superb story-teller and this is clearly evidenced in The Scarlett Legacy. Great writing. Great plot. Great characters. Nothing more you could ask for.

    Highly recommended.

When a Scarlett who is both your husband and a wizard orders you to complete a hit on criminal underworld boss Hugh Prince, Olivia Scarlett knows there's no option of saying 'no'. Its just lucky for her that she happens to be an assassin whose specialty is stealth, because killing Hugh requires specialised skills. Especially if said hit was currently occupying the pen in Woodland Creek. Being a black spider with a purple stripe down it's back and a lethal dose of venom made it somewhat easier; not being human has to come with some perks. Not that anyone other than a trained assassin would consider being able to shift into a venomous spider as a perk. Her human life with her mannerisms, tatts and piercings lead people to believe that she is a freak, even if she is a top genetic researcher in her daytime job.

Olivia nonetheless loves the power and the thrill, often wondering if it'd be better to simply live permanently in her shifted form. But, like all shifters, staying too long causes the mind to become distant and detached, leaving her brain foggy for days after returning to her human form. These were the only legacies, other than his temper and his knack for violence, that Olivia inherited from her father's drunken and abusive self; she'd never be like her weak mother, who stood by and took it all. Although the irony of marrying a man far more dangerous than her father, didn't escape her notice. Still, she pondered at what stage she'd become the assassin again, having worked at leaving her past life behind, back in Europe when she'd left. Among other reasons, she could but hope that this act would finally end of blood fued for her husband's family, her family..

The Scarlett family legacies are more than just the magic and power of the wizards, and the resources and manpower of being one of the top criminal syndicates. Whilst its little known, the family Olivia married into is closer to her biological makeup than she knows. Her mother- and sister-in-law both have the abilities of magic and those of a shifter too. Adelaide loved Wes's father and never told him, fearing he'd look upon her heritage poorly. Evie has magic like her brother Wes, but she also has dream premonitions and inherited more of her mother's nature than she'd known existed. Her heritage, if honed to it's fall potential, would afford her another layer of protection. With the murder of the Scarlett patriarch only a short time ago, and with the hit put out by Wes and the matriarch, it was now more important than ever that Evie know the full depth of her reservoir.

For as long as she can remember Evie has seen her death play out nightly. The forebodance of her mother, Adelaide, revealing the things she and Wes had done since her father died, and along with Evie's nightly terror, new meaning is given to the shivers that run down her spine. Not that Evie knows, but the latest deaths ordered in the name of the Scarlett-Prince blood fued was likely to change their lives forever, even more so than the events of the recent past. Evie has always known in some fashion what lurks in her family's metaphorical basement, even if at times that was literal as well. Her family had tried to shield her for as long as she could remember. Since her father's death though, both the shield fading and her stomach's rebellion showed her that danger is afield.

The return of the only living heir to the Prince franchise in Woodland Creek would bring an end to the secrets and the feuding. Just which ones would die, and how many would survive unscathed, were the only real questions. Whilst Evie and her plain old human boyfriend Parker, the best friend she's had since seven-years-of-age, make plans to abscond to a future filled with possibilities and wonder, retribution would sweep through the Creek. A fast-paced and exciting centre of supernatural activity, Woodland Creek has something that invites many a paranormal to its beautiful country and wooded geography. Wizards and shifters have been drawn to the town for centuries. Whilst the treaty many centuries ago that dictated the necessity for anonymity, it hasn't stopped those of supernatural ability from coming to the town; even if they can't necessarily identify one another. The rather unique collection of races compiled makes for an intriguing plot. I certainly never expected to encounter a spider shifter, and gryphons have an appeal all their own. The Scarlett Legacy is a definite worthwhile read and K.N. Lee's style of storytelling is natural and exciting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing

What sounded good from the cover text turned out to be a bit disappointing. Most of the characters were, to be strictly honest, criminals, mob leaders or part of the mob. The story starts more or less towards the end of an ongoing fight between two of the criminal families, and the setting is what sounded like a small town. So for me, there was nothing in the main characters I found likeable; Wes, Evie's brother, has "a pain in his stomach" thinking about having killed two certain persons - ah well, maybe he just ate something wrong huh? As a contrast to all the others, Evie and Parker were just too good to be true. So nothing realistic, and despite the characters all being oh so remorseful, they came over as quite shallow. I won't even mention Evie's so far hidden powers which are so vital all of a sudden?
The story itself: incidents, actions, reactions followed each other quite quickly, but not in what I would call a fast-paced story, more jumping from one thing to the other, without explanations - they seemed disconnected, not one leading to the other.
The plot as such was okay, but I think the implementation of the story itself is lacking.

A truly wonderful read! This writer has managed to make romance live and breathe in the pages of this book. A genuine surprise for me as I'm not big on romance novels ... but that's where this writer's true genius lays. With magic, true creativity and some whimsical twists of character plays, this story moves quickly from suspense, mystery and threat to thrills, danger and finally the conclusion of this fantasy story. But no spoilers here - all I can tell you is that you have to read this book!
