Carolyn Ruffles is the author of both contemporary and historical fiction laced with mystery, romance and suspense. She loves reading books which tell a compelling story: books with drama and emotional depth; books which keep her reading late into the night and then have a satisfying ending. That is what she strives to write. She is also fascinated by human interest stories – ordinary people embroiled in extraordinary situations and learning about themselves in the process.

Having retired from teaching, she wrote her first book, The Girl in the Scrapbook, which was published in November, 2018. Carolyn lives in Norfolk with her husband Mark. She also loves spending time with family and friends, especially if there’s a glass of wine involved!

    The VANISHING ENCORE by Carolyn Ruffles is a well-written, compelling story. After reading only a few pages, I knew I was hooked. What would happen next? Every night, I looked forward to reading what new twists and turns Saskia found herself in as she sought to find Mel, her sister, and peace for herself. The book is not only engrossing and suspenseful but a beautiful love story as well. I highly recommend the book.

This is one of those novels that will pop back into your consciousness years after reading it due to it’s cleaver plot twists.

    I have just finished reading The Vanishing Encore. Wow, what a fabulous read, Carolyn, and thank you! I have not wanted to put the book down and have been completely captivated by the intriguing plot and wonderful characters. This is a real triumph in the skilful weaving of many strands of an action-packed storyline but also with lovely moments of warmth, humour and romance. I loved following the development of the characters and grew particularly fond of Lily and Todd. I know the story had to come to a conclusion at some point – and what a conclusion! – but, for so many reasons, I really didn’t want the book to end! Another masterpiece, Carolyn – very well done!
