The Third Wheel: An MMF Polyamorous Romance (There’s Room for More) Kindle Edition
Mira is my ride or die, my soulmate, my partner in crime. We're like two peas in a pod, and even our faults complement each other. Together, we run a quaint little bookstore in Hazy Cove, our own little paradise in the Pacific Northwest. And I’m madly in love with her.
The only thing marring perfection? Her annoying, alpha-hole of a husband, Gunnar.
Yeah, I’m the ultimate third wheel.
To make matters worse, Mira wants Gunnar and I to be friends and is always trying to set up our bromance.
Let’s be real, two men couldn’t be any different: Gunnar owns a motorcycle shop, I own a bookstore. Gunnar has tattoos, I… well, okay I also have tattoos, but mine are intellectual. And we can't agree on anything.
But as much as I want to hate him, Mira adores him and can't seem to see past his overbearing ways. So when she begs me to come along on their next adventure, a camping trip in the wilderness, how can I say no? I know things will be awkward, but I can never deny her anything.
But on our camping trip, Gunnar’s tough guy facade finally cracks, revealing that he’s different than I ever expected. He’s oddly sweet, bisexual, and definitely into sharing his wife with me.
Suddenly, I’m in way too deep. Of course, I’m even more in love with her, but that’s not all — he’s on his knees, asking for something I never expected to give. And I might want both of them.
But that’s not a thing… is it?

About the author

My name is Kristin and I write sexy stories with funny bits in them. Or maybe funny stories with sexy bits in them? My stories take place in quirky mountain towns and are full of heart, awkward moments, and humor. Okay, and a whole lot of three-ways. I love subverting alpha males and turning tropes a little upside-down.
I currently live in the mountains of Oregon with my husband and two daughters, three chickens, and two dogs. In my spare time, I play snowboards and ride bikes.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024I didn't have a favorite contemporary author, until I read this. I've only read 2 of Kristin's books (this and Praise and Paperbacks) and I am now swiftly working my way through her back catalogue.
It has everything I could want. Oops all switches! Bisexual men exploring their sexuality in a loving and safe space. Organic formulation of a deeply loving polycule.
This is a follow up to Praise and Paperbacks but can be read as a standalone. However, it is definitely best read after to really get a grasp on the preexisting relationships between all the main characters.
This story starts with Mira and Colby who are co-owners of a bookstore and best friends. Colby is in love with Mira, but she is married to Gunnar. He and Gunner bicker constantly. Mira suggest a bonding camping trip wherein we learn that there's an underlying tension between Gunnar and Colby. What follows is a whirlwind polycule formation where in Gunnar can explore his bisexuality and Colby discovers his own.
I LOVE that this book has a fairly realistic sense of a poly relationship. Colby struggles with feeling secure in their new relationship because Mira and Gunnar are already married and the news of Gunnar's long standing secret crush is very new. Colby was under the impression Gunnar hated him, and now he wants to bang? The whiplash he experiences is palpable. Gunnar and Mira both make an effort to show and tell Colby how much he is wanted and put his worries to rest. At no point do they try to minimize or brush it aside. They are fully invested in him being a part of the relationship.
Gunnar's exploration of his bisexuality and submissive side is fantastically done and relatable while Colby's discovery of his bisexuality is equally relatable. Them learning how to navigate their attraction to one another without Mira being the glue to the two of them was delightful.
As a poly bisexual this was so nice to read through my own struggles brought to life. I love that while this book is super kinky, poly and bi folks are fetishized. They are celebrated and brought to life in a beautifully relatable way.
The spice in this book is 5/5 and adds so much depth to their story.
I cannot wait to read more of Kristin's work and the rest of this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2024The book is the anticipated follow-up to Praise and Paperbacks and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the addition of Colby to Mira and Gunnar’s relationship after they got past the annoying fighting stage. The dynamic of Colby and Gunnar surprised me a bit. I’m glad Colby got his happy ending. Also, Wanda is still awesome and can’t wait to hear more about her endeavor!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024This story was very steamy and enjoyable. I read this as a standalone and like half way I realized that Mira and Gunner have their own story before this one. I was not aware of that. But it absolutely didn’t take anything away from this story. We get 3 POVs so that helps understand and love each character individually. This book is kinda Colby story and is focus on his happily ever after with a juicy twist of a poly relationship. I absolutely recommend this book if you’re opened minded and don’t mind more than two people together. The spicy scenes are very specific which made it more enjoyable to read in my opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2025Not the best. Story was rushed and wasn't much plot to the story. Everything seemed to come to easy and would have loved a more in depth idea of each character. The spice was okay but again, certain scenes seemed hurried.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2024THE THIRD WHEEL did not work very well for me. I enjoyed Mira and Gunnar's story in PRAISE & PAPERBACKS but they felt like different people in this one. Gunnar especially was very different in both his personality and his kinks; it was never once mentioned in the previous book that he was bisexual, interested in being submissive, or that he had feelings for Colby. Now of course people grow and change and I don't have any problem with that but the book presents it like its something he's known for a while, especially his bisexuality.
I liked each of the characters and it was certainly very spicy but overall this felt like a mess. Everything happened at light speed, very little discussion occurred on page, characters were being outed left and right (which was icky), and it just all felt so superficial.
