But as I begin my third fantasy football season, I can't shake the feeling that this move was supposed to be different - the start of a new life with the man I love.
Yet here I am, stuck in another mundane job, feeling more alone than ever, and with a fantasy football team that even a mother wouldn't love.
Just when I think things can't get any worse, a sudden event threatens to unravel everything I've worked so hard for.
But I'm not one to give up easily. I'll do whatever it takes to create my own happily ever after, even if it means taking the ultimate risk.
If you enjoyed “Friday Night Lights” and Sophie Kinsella, then you'll love this heartwarming and humorous tale of love, life, and fantasy football. For fans of romantic comedies and sports-themed love stories, this book has it all.

About the author

Laura Chapman is a born-and-raised Nebraska girl who loves cats, British period dramas, and baking shows. When she isn't thinking about what kind of cake she'd bake for Paul Hollywood or deciding whether or not to buy *another* regency ball gown, she's the award-winning author of light-hearted and humorous women's fiction.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2016I'm sad to see the end of Harper, Brook, JJ and the fantasy football gang. I got to know them all so well through the series. Really enjoyed the twists and turns in this third installment. Very satisfying characters with depth and complexity. I'll definitely follow this author's next books. I really like her style.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2017Gah, what a lovely series! Laura Chapman has made me a fan girl with this series and I couldn't be more thankful to have read it. Three & Out is the third book in this series and follow Harper (who is the heroine of book 1 -- First & Goal -- and book 2 -- Going for Two) after she is married and back to her boring day job.
Harper is just as delightful and fun as ever in this novel, and I love seeing her in a new element! Fans of chick lit novels NEED to check out this series. It is unique, funny, and very lighthearted. I have certainly been charmed by these novels and can't wait to see what Chapman comes out with next! Hopefully she will be writing more chick lit novels because these ones are WINNERS!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2017Generally, I enjoyed this book. Three & Out caps off the Queen of the League Trilogy and ties all of the loose ends in a crowd-pleasing fashion.
Harper and Brook are starting their first year of marriage in Seattle (and of course, Blitz is there, too) and Brook is coaching for the Seattle State Sounds. Harper lacks a focused career, but her up and coming Team Stitches is certainly on the rise. Old friends intermix with new ones and Harper and Brook face various challenges as they try to acclimate to life in Seattle.
Some of the plot twists were a bit lost on me, but I liked how the book wrapped up in the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016Harper MacLaughlin together with her husband Brook and their cat Blitz, have moved to Seattle where Brook coaches college football. It’s a new life with fresh challenges, and changes for both of them. However, their fantasy football league remains a constant along with the other team members such as Gio, Wade, and JJ.
During a dinner at Brook’s boss’ house, Harper and Witney (another of the wives), get pushed into joining a new fantasy football league. The Real Coach’s Wives of Seattle is run by Angie O’Dwyer, the wife of Brook’s boss. This throws Harper and Witney together and they become firm friends.
As with previous books in this Queen of the League series, the chapters have a score tally and run-down on the progress of the leagues that Harper has joined. It’s a fun and different addition which works well.
JJ makes more of an appearance in this book than in the previous two. An ex-colleague of Harper, and friend to Brook, JJ shows up in Seattle looking to stay with them. There’s an air of mystery to why he’s visiting and Harper tries her best to get to the bottom of it. JJ isn’t the most reliable or trustworthy of people. I’d had my reservations about him before and they resurfaced in this third instalment. For all his faults, JJ is Brook’s friend and that shines through. He steps up to the plate and supports Harper in her hour of need, redeeming himself. I loved JJ’s ‘sofa king.’ I caught on immediately but it took Harper and Brook an age to figure it out. I won’t go any further on ‘sofa king’ but once you read it, you’ll know what it refers to. I might even use it myself!
There are plenty of new characters to get to know – a few of which sounded off alarm bells. Again, I don’t want to spoil the surprise or plot line, but you’ll know who they are when you come across them.
Team Stitches, Harper and Amelia’s online boutique selling knitted and crocheted garments, also make a comeback. They work hard to make the business a success despite no longer living in the same State as each other. It’s not easy for them but with a little help from a surprise stranger, things move full steam ahead.
Although the book probably falls into the category of chick-lit, it has some current topics running through it. In today’s society sexual harassment occurs. It always has done. The difference being that the victims are now coming forward, standing up and saying ‘hey, this has happened to me, and it’s not acceptable.’ It was an excellent addition that drills the message home that sexual harassment is not okay and will not be tolerated. Well done to Laura Chapman for bringing the subject up and putting that message out there.
I’m not giving away the ending, so you’ll have to read it for yourself. The whole story from start to finish had me captivated. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a brilliant third instalment in the Queen of the League series. Here’s hoping for a fourth!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2016In Three & Out, the third book in the Queen of the League Series, author Laura Chapman weaves an entertaining chick lit / romantic comedy tale that continues the trials and tribulations of Harper Duquaine MacLaughlin, as she tries to balance daily life issues, work issues, and friendship issues, while delving into the third year of the competitive world of fantasy football leagues.
Author Laura Chapman takes her personal passion for fantasy football leagues and creates a hilarious chick lit / romantic comedy series with a football theme. She weaves a sassy tale full of humor and drama that easily draws the reader into the continuation of Harper's story as she tries to try juggle the challenges in her life with the fierce competitiveness of fantasy football leagues.
In Three & Out, the focus is on how Harper deals with the challenges of everyday life issues, especially with her recent marriage to Brook, and their relocation from Lincoln, Nebraska to Seattle, Washington for Brook's new coaching position at Seattle State, while participating in two fantasy football leagues: The Mega Ballerz (her original league) and The Real Coaches' Wives of Seattle (the league run by the college football coaches' wives).
I really enjoyed the continuation of Harper's story as the drama of adjusting to married life and the relocation to Seattle are added into the mix of the everyday life issues that Harper faces, along with the hilarious trash talking and rivalry of the fantasy football leagues. I couldn't help but snicker as Harper went back to drafting players on the fly like she did in her first year in the fantasy league, in the hope that she'll come out on top and win that elusive championship. Harper has a lot going on in her life, but with Brook by her side, this sassy girl can overcome all the challenges that come her way! I hope that there will be more books in the series, I can't help but want to keep up with Harper and Brook's latest adventures.
As a diehard NFL fan (Dallas Cowboys) and fantasy football league enthusiast, I loved reading every book of the Queen of the League series, they are so much fun and will keep you thoroughly entertained! I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I agree with our girl Harper on the fugliness of the NFL team throwback uniforms, they are simply hideous!
Three & Out is an exciting and fast paced story that flows smoothly and easily keeps the reader turning the pages. Author Laura Chapman sure knows how to weave an enjoyable series that keeps her readers in stitches. You can't help but get caught up in Harper's roller coaster ride of a life full of drama and sweet romance, it's simply delightful!
