    So I read and really like Kate Wise series. Chloe Fine is ok, but not one of my favs. Then I got hooked on Riley Paige which is a great series. But when I found Keri Locke wow, just wow. What a great series. I just finished #3 and downloaded #4, what a good story line. Hard to read sometime, very intense and at times heartbreaking. Blake Pierce is an outstanding writer and I am all on board with her ladies. I bought Kate Wise latest book in advance, it downloaded a few days ago but I just can’t leave Keri right now. I just don’t know how Ms. Pierce can keep all these strong women characters straight, so well defined and so interesting. Thank you Ms. Pierce for some great reading!!

    I started into this author with the Riley Paige series; I have read those through book 9; and will continue with the rest in that series; I have also read Mackenzie White Mystery through Book 7 and I just finished book 2 in this Keri Locke Mystery series. All content is very similar; women detectives or FBI agents; each character goes to a prison for help from a prisoner; Riley Paige is in too deep with hers and gong against the law by hiding stuff from the FBI; all our good reads, but after reading as many as I have, I find myself saying "here we go again". I do like Blake Pierce but I feel he should stick to one character. I do see where the Keri Locke series is ending wherein he will be down to two characters. If he reads this, please do not take this the wrong way as you do write very well; this is just me talking and others will certainly not agree.

    This psychological suspense thriller really has me needing to check out the next story in the series. Keri Locke is still looking for her daughter Evie. This book deserves the five star rating. I read it quickly and became absorbed from page one!! This is the second book in this series and although Keri is still looking for her daughter , she's still carrying on solving cases which helps to take her mind off things for a little while. Great story, you won't be disappointed!!!
    I would highly recommend it to fans of feisty female leads, psychological dramas and police procedural mystery-thrillers...I enjoyed it so much I read it in one sitting oblivious to the world around me. I can't wait to read Vice but more importantly I can't wait to read some of the other lady detectives and my favorite Lady LAPD Profiler Jessie Hunt, who started it all for me.

    Spoiler alert: the narrative in this book was good enough to keep me reading, but the overall plot, once revealed, was simply not realistic. To critique it I must describe it, so those not wishing to read spoilers, please stop here.

    1. The heroine is a college professor whose daughter had been kidnapped,and who turned cop. I don't think so. Those choosing to become cops are underachievers wishing to command or bully others; scholars and teachers are close to the opposite. If Dr Keri wanted to maximize the chances of recovery she would have pursued her academic career, earned more, and used the money to hire a P.I.

    2. The villain is a compassionate surgeon (another contradiction) who after discovering his wife had an affair several years prior, decides to bury her alive. I don't think so. Divorce, perhaps; murder, no. Insufficient motive.

    3. To conceal the murder, he hires a lookalike who pretends to be running away of her own accord, leaving just enough clues for Cop Keri to follow, hoping that would cause the cops to drop the case. Then he has the lookalike killed as well; two needless murders (so, twice the risk) when none was needed. I suppose the hit man who did the second job might become the third, and so ad inf. Silly.

    4. Even the finale is not credible. Keri is partly buried in a pit and hurting from injuries, yet she induces the villain to join her in the pit and hits him with a flashlight until he dies. In your dreams.

    I really like the pace of Blake Pierce's books. They do not drag and move at a great pace that keeps you reading. This was another great addition to the Keri Locke series. I enjoy all of his books. Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the editing. Recommend his books to all who enjoy a fast paced mystery. I do agree with others that it is time to wrap up Evie storyline.

    Still a good mystery read after reading Book 1 in the series. But after finishing Book 2 and seeing the same old, same old, I wonder how many more to read. I’d like to see what happens concerning Keri Locke’s daughter, but to keep in tricking me to buy books with the same plots over and over, won’t keep me doing that. Keri Locke is always going against her superior’s which isn’t believable time after time. She always gets in deep trouble and fights her way out. Then a teaser is sent out to you about a lead on her daughter. Then ooops, the book ends and go buy another one. Same old, same old gets old to me quickly.
