The Violet Knight Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 95 ratings

Yuki was just your average high school girl—that is, if you consider having violet eyes and not aging a day since her tenth birthday as average.

The day before her university entrance ceremony Yuki’s father tells her he’s from another world, before throwing her off their condo’s balcony on the 14th floor. The next thing she knows she’s rescued by the handsome Fourth Prince of Adolunde and forced into a contract with him. Yuki travels to the front lines of a war she knows nothing about to keep out of reach of the psychotic First Prince of Adolunde. He will go to any lengths to sacrifice her as the Legendary Witch she resembles.

What will happen to Yuki? Will she revert to her true age and return home? Or will Adolunde’s first prince burn her at the stake?

The Violet Knight is one of the first Josei Japanese Light Novel series officially in English!

I'm loving these shoujo/josei novels that CIW are publishing for us.
I enjoyed Yuki as a feisty heroine with skills in archery and a sense of humour, which is one of my favourite traits in a story protagonist. Prince Luca was attractive as well, and may potentially be the perfect guy. The story was a bit dark and depressing but still a fun read. Pretty sure this will have a (mostly) happy ending.
Really looking forward to seeing the other characters' reactions to a grown-up Yuki. I only hope that the pain of having them not recognise her won't last too long.

If you liked My Favorite Song, you'll love this one.

Overall, a pretty good romantic drama set a "transported to another world" scenario.

I found most of the characters to be likable/interesting, and the plot enjoyable. About half way through, things get intense, and I couldn't put the book down!

I'd rate the book higher if it didn't have a few drawbacks. 1) the scene transitions are often jarring. The author spends very little time describing changes in location or the locations themselves. This makes the beginning of the book the hardest part to get through. 2) Some of the characters are a bit cliched. Hopefully they will get more developed as the series continues.

    Overall: pretty good.

As isekai go, it has a more detailed plot than some, runs light on humor and a bit heavier on the things that make you think than most isekai I’ve encountered. I’m not sure if what’s bugging me about it is a loss in translation or a sparseness in the source material, but it could benefit from a little polish - the time gaps arn’t real obvious - it packs what feels like a few weeks of content into a span it calls about a year. I’d say it’s worth a read, but it’s not something I’d monitor for new books.

If I could I would rate it a 4.5. The story has a quick pace, and gradual character development. As a guy who enjoys reading about love and romance, this story really drew me in.

I grew attached to the main heroine. So much so I grew emotional through her trials and tribulations. I guess my brotherly/fatherly instincts got the better of me. I hate when tragedy befalls upon the young.

I recommend this novel to anyone who prefer a little darkness in their love stories rather than a pink and fluffy tale.

It’s a cute, semi girly light novel. Some of the flow is weird but overall it’s a good story. I plan on getting the next one as soon as it comes out.

I couldn’t put it down. Absolutely love it and the story. I may not be as young as Yuki but I relate to her in so many ways, it’s comforting.

The novel started with a really, really unengaging sequence of Yuki's parents pushing her off their balcony after telling her NOTHING of use about the world, they try to ship her to. They didn't even know, whether that would work. I almost dropped the book after that. Well, with that blasted, obligatory crossing-over-scene out of the way, we can finally get started with... reading about characters, i'm already tired of reading about. Like, it's fascinating, that every aspect about them is something, that i have seen already a million times. The dashing, competent prince with split personality, the incompetent whiny assistant, the likeable combatdude with a little sister, a man that somehow doesn't know how emotions work, unsavory habits when drunk, ridiculous sleepinghabits and of course the mandatory creep...Yuki herself is interesting enough. Her special constitution makes it rather easy for literally everyone to mess with her, especially the creeps, but her internal anxiety and suffering is very well portrayed.
