GoodGame (Unfrozen Book #3): LitRPG Series Kindle Edition
Nobody ever took them seriously.
They were the Unfrozen, expendable, throwaways, but as fate would have it, they managed to outlive those who “owned” them. Some set out to master the inhospitable future they found themselves in. One by one, they ventured forth and disappeared. Others hid to avoid capture, only delaying the inevitable. The existence of false identities was a threat to the entire System.
Only one of the Unfrozen continued to forge the path he’d originally set out on, flying in the face of common sense and in complete disregard for playing it safe. Klim Denisov was used to going all the way to the end, even if it led him over the edge.
But he's no longer all alone. He’s found allies who, like him, want to get to the bottom of what's been going on. No matter what the cost, they’re determined to put a stop to the mysterious deaths of players. Or, might that cost be too high this time? Let's not forget about the mysterious hunter who wasn't yet ready to see himself as someone’s quarry.
Get ready for an epic hunt!

About the author

Anton Tekshin was born on June 13th, 1987, which fell on a Saturday, though his whole life he’s felt like it was a Friday. He grew up in a small town, where children’s activities consisted of alcohol consumption and playing soccer on the local pasture. Early on, books became a way for the future author to escape these dreary conditions and travel to amazing worlds. He liked sci-fi thrillers best of all and carried this passion with him through years of study and subsequent work in the field of forestry. His favorite authors back then were Lois Bujold, Emilio Salgari, George R. R. Martin and Robert Heinlein.
Anton always liked to tell stories, and at some point he realized that he had to try to write himself. By that time, he already had extensive experience interacting with people from various walks of life — from military personnel to preppers to members of the criminal underworld. Anton enjoys putting people in extreme situations and watching them find a way out. But he does this, for the most part, only in his books :)

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2022I am really enjoying this book and series. It is litrpg but the book is not really about leveling up. The series is more like a detective series in a game and the real world.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2022Great mixture of real world mystery and action with LitRPG in a “game”. Character stats are very light and I don’t think I saw the entire character sheet reviewed at all.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022I love the author's style. The story is action-packed. However, various events in the story seem to get skipped over or skimmed past. For example, at the end of the story, the main character is in one place, trying to complete a puzzle to earn a huge prize.... the story ends when he is 1/3 of the way done. Then the Epilogue jumps to something completely different. (And the next book doesn't pick up or explain what happened. Which is frustrating, because the "quest" concerns a major power-up for the character which has been discussed for 3 books, but completely ignored by the character.)
It feels like the author is trying to wrap up the story and is deleting major chunks.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2022I know some fans of LitRPG want all the action to take place in the game, but I love the dual storyline, which actually intersects nicely in the novel. I hope the series goes on, because Cooldown gets better with every book, and I want him to keep on fighting the good fight!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2022The first book in the series was well presented, with a translation actually matching the surprising literary quality of the author. The second showed some decline but was still readable. This third volume - as far as the translation and editing - is just abominable, with diction errors and confusing renderings that had me wondering whether a native English speaker even looked at the thing before release.
The story is still enjoyable, but these issues make the actual reading experience rather less so.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2022Main character is overpowered and the jokes are really not very funny (or perhaps poorly translated). On the positive side, there is lots of swashbuckling and never a boring moment.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new Anomaly
Some interesting machinations and goings on in the New Horizons universe. Cooldown and Ellie are levelling, along with their clan, and still hunting the Spectres.
