Unraveling Malcolm (Rebels and Nerds Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 253 ratings

Malcolm is a librarian, and he lives a very nice, very ordered life.
But the life we live isn’t always the life we want.
And when someone finally asks Malcolm what he desires,
oh daddy, does he ever answer.

Malcolm:

I dare you.

That’s what Gunner says to me when I first meet him.
I dare you.
Like it’s a threat. Like it’s a promise.

So despite my better judgment, I have a drink with him, and we meet up at the park the next week.
But then Gunner is daring me to drive off into the mountains for the night.
He’s daring me to sneak into some stranger’s cabin with him, and to do things I never thought I would do.

And we do those things, right up until the moment that stranger comes home.

He’s a solid, strong man, at least forty years old and heavily tattooed.
And with a storm crashing through the forest, he tells us that there’s a fallen tree blocking the road.
He tells us his name is Maddox, and that we’re not going anywhere.

But even with Gunner by my side, I never dared imagine what Maddox would actually want with us.
I never dared dream who we all could be, together.

Unravelling Malcolm is a 75K+ MMM romance. It can be enjoyed alone, or as a story in the Rebels and Nerds series. This novel has extra dirty talk and some spice on the way to an HEA for all three characters. Enjoy!

I was SUPER into this book from the get. I loved the instant attraction Malcom had with Gunner because (swoon, Gunner called Malcolm a prince). The way they meet Maddox was written well too and the drama was low. I LOVE that they got their HEA :) and the steam was A++++

I don’t even know I found this book. I was at KU (if you read a LOT KU should be required) reading so many summaries for something different.

This book is that. In an amazing surprising way. I am sure others have summarized better than I could so my thoughts:

the initial meetings of characters goes too well. just complete acceptance even when criminal activities are being bandied about.

I fail to see point of motorcycle trip toward end of book, least they could have done is visit Mom.

I like how Malcolm is celebrated by his men—they do not try to change him to be more like them.

the house should have been discussed very being Maddox’s fait accompli.

bottom line: this book celebrates love and how love can make all of us better people.

(this is my first book by this author, but won’t be my last)

I am loving this series. I love MMM and this is a great story about a geeky librarian and two hot bad boys with good hearts. I can't wait to see what R. Cayden brings us next!

While Gunner was a younger version of Maddox, Malcolm was your quiet and polite librarian trying to figure out life. The three had explosive chemistry and their story line and meet cute were original and fun. This was a fun storyline with no big break up scene which I enjoy and they found their happily ever after.

This was a decent MMM read. Usually one or more characters aren’t fully formed, but all three of these had their own voice.

I enjoy a geek / bad boy story, and the story has a geek and two bad guys, so I really liked it! Malcolm is a librarian, and hasn’t achieved full separation from his parents, though he’s more sexually adventurous than he first appears. Gunner is a wanna be bad guy, who does foolish things and brags to impress others (namely Malcolm), instead of following his own heart. He dares Malcolm to do things he shouldn’t, and Malcolm, despite knowing better, follows him. And Maddox... ahhh, Maddox. He’s a reformed bad guy, mostly, who is attracted to both the slightly geeky librarian and the impulsive wannabe.

I enjoyed the authors realistic descriptions of Malcolm‘s fears and burgeoning kink, and especially Gunner’s immature decision-making. There were many times when I was reading something and yelling at the book, “Gunner, stop it! Stop trying to impress people!“ Mostly though, I really liked how each person had something that the other was missing, so that when they came together it felt like a good match. The play scenes had plenty of heat!

The story did lose a little steam for me at the end, but I enjoyed the overall premise and writing.

I love the whole Rebels/Nerds thing going on in here. It's a lot of fun to play with stereotypes and expectations the way that R. Cayden does. The characters are really well-written and pretty fully formed, in my opinion.

I love Malcolm and his just total sweetness. Gunner has some toughness, but he has a sweet and gooey center, especially for Malcolm. Because, really, who wouldn't?

Then there's Maddox, who really likes his cute boys, and wants to make sure that they are all OK.

I would give a lot to get another book with these 3.

I am very sorry R. Cayden, I can’t continue reading this particular novel because of the smoking. It killed my Gran and my Grandad, and it’s currently killing my father. When Gunner lit his 3rd cigarette, I realized it was going to be something that was part of the story. I was hoping the first time, in the park with Malcolm, was a one-off, but I wasn’t that lucky. Again, I’m sorry.
I loved Book One and now I’m going to crack open Book Three!

I really enjoyed this and seeing 3 totally different men come together and create an amazing bond. They went so well together and you could feel their connection. Great addition to the series

Unfortunately for me while this book wasn't badly written I just didn't believe any of it. Not the characters or the story were intriguing and it all just seemed a bit middle of the road boring and predictable. Unfortunately not a book I'd recommend.
