- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2019This is a fun read from start to finish.
Will and Ainsley both need to bring a boyfriend home for Christmas in order to placate each of their family’s need to make sure they have someone. Will’s family doesn’t want him to be alone, Ainsley is a model who needs someone to [buffer with his estranged parents]. By chance, they meet at an airport and decide to be each other’s fake boyfriends. But eventually, they fall in love, as opposites attract.
This story is fast-past, full of hot sex, and extremely funny. I definitely recommend it and can’t wait to read the next one from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2019When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure what to think. The more I read, I was pulled in by the ups and downs of the story, and before I knew it, it was over. I don’t really read holiday romances but this one was beautifully done.
In the beginning of the book, I felt bad for Ainsley because it was clear that his life hadn’t been an easy one. He had been used, neglected, and all he wanted was to find love. He went through a huge character growth going from that type of character to someone strong and in control of his life.
When Will eavesdrops on Ainsley’s conversation home, there is so much chemistry between the two characters, and I love how the author only managed to make this more so throughout the book.
Fantastic read for fans of M/M romance!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2020A sweet fake-boyfriends home-for-Christmas book with all the warm, fluffy feelings a holiday romance needs. I loved how different Ainsley and Will were, and I loved how different their families were as well. It was a great portrayal of two very different people and two very different types of families. I wanted to go home for Christmas with Will’s family, and I was really hoping someone would tell off Ainsley’s family. Even that was very low-angst, though, and the reader was left with a blossoming romance that puts a smile on your face.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2022This was a "Oh what the h*LL" purchase and it turns out was a surprisingly good story! An unapologetically gay model meets a still grieving widower at the airport while both are left waiting for respective others. WILL NOT TELL THE CIRCUMSTANCES as it is a fantastic meet-cute!!! The story is just a wonderful quick read that left me wanting to know what happens after the story!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2023Wouldn't this make a great movie? The story of the two strangers pretending to date each other for Christmas so their respective families wouldn't harp on anymore about their single status was a great read. 5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love this book!!
Ainsley is sexy, sassy & vulnerable & Will is caring, loving & still trying to move on from his husband’s death. Together they are absolutely perfect, together they support each other, complement each other & embrace what they have found together. A beautiful story that will have you crying for the pain they have been through and celebrating the love they have found.

4.0 out of 5 stars Besonders

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start, disappointing ending
This was a great read - until the author introduced some completely unnecessary angst for both characters at the end.
The story started out well - we meet Veterinarian Will, who is 38, a widower, as laid back as they come, and only just now willing to out himself out in the dating world. He is blown away by Ainsley who is 21, an androgynous model, wears makeup and heels. Both need a boyfriend for Christmas so agree to pretend for the other. But what starts as pretend soon turns real as the chemistry between them explodes.
I loved how their story progressed, and how amazing Wills parents were. As they got to know each other, they both let down their walls and really connected.
I did wonder why Ainsley didn't just stay with Will though? Why his parents hosted Ainsley while Will was still at his own house? And then with Joey and Brody being brought in at the end just ruined it. Why couldn't Will and Ainsley just have sorted out how they were going to make things work with their different jobs etc, rather than bringing in other people to cause havoc, and then not really telling us how their relationship was going to work? The epilogue was so short that it didn't really go into detail about how they were making the long distance work for them.
So great start, but disappointing ending.
