The Uptown Witch (The Coven: School of Magical Arts Novella Book 2) Kindle Edition
Wrong.
It’s all pressure. Nothing but pressure.
The rest of my Coven got to go home and relax. All I want to do after the last few months is to sit on my couch, eat a whole box of cookies, and binge watch mindless feel-good movies. But apparently that is not on my to-do list.
To top it all off…it’s Christmas season. In Manhattan. And I get to host the Yule Ball for all of Eden. Every witch and shifter in the world has been invited...to show off our new School of Magical Arts. Now I just have to make sure we're ready for the world.
But right...no pressure. NBD.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2024Reading about these two is so much better than the the so called leaders of the coven.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2020The Uptown Witch was a fun and light hearted read with the main focus on Emersyn and Deacon’s growing relationship. Set in New York City, we revisit many of the same characters from City Witch showing how they’ve grown and changed from the challenges presented by the opening of the School of Magical Arts. SOMA as it’s called, has become home to many young witches and now a bunch of shifters who all have to figure out how to get along. On top of that the joint Yule Ball with Eden is in a matter of days and the entire Coven will be there. Emersyn is stressed and Deacon is supportive, leaving it open for many hilarious moments. I loved this book and had to stop reading at times because I was laughing so hard. Give it a try.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2025I like this series a lot, but why is Deacon calling Emersyn “Butterberry”?!? Every time I see it, my brain fills it in as “Butterball”. “Buttercup” is better.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020Our favorite Empress has hit the streets of New York once again and made her mark! Emeryson and Deacon have to return to SOMA to ensure that everything is running smoothly before Tennessee and Tegan come to see how well she did. Throughout all of the final touches, Emeryson becomes closer to Deacon's family, and creates a school where Arcana and Shifters can come together and learn that they aren't very different from one another.
Chandelle casts a spell on you that just makes you continue to flip the pages until you can't anymore! This book radiates all the emotions of the characters to where you are right there with them. You are anxious with Em while she is making her final touches on the school, laugh at the conversations among all of the friends, and pure love for Emeryson and Deacon as they strengthen their bond as soul mates.
I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait to see where the next book takes us!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2020Ok second book for just Deacon and Emersyn and it was more thrilling then the 1st. I loved how fierce Emersyn was with the shifters and how ocd she is about everything since she is in charge. It was funny to watch her with the chef and how paranoid although for no reason about the arrival of Tennessee and Tegan. Tegan will always have her back even if something wasn't perfect. I enjoyed watching amelia try to include landy in with her crowd but was sad to see that she left on her own. Cant wait for the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2020I absolutely adore anything that Chandelle LaVaun has put out. As we go deeper into this world that she has weaved, we want more. There is a new mystery around every corner. Nothing that I have read by her has taken me more than a few hours, i devour them. Her writing style is uniquely hers and I wouldn't change a thing about her world. I have a deep love for Emersyn and Deacon, or Emercon as they have been dubbed. I love that we got to see their relationship get deeper in this novela, they have a complete mark!! Tennegan just about split my sides with their shenanigans this go around. I love how uncomfortable they are out of their ripped jeans, boots, and leather jackets. "Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out why I have five forks." One of the best Tennegan lines from the book. I am so excited that Heather and Sebastian are trying so hard to re-establish their relationships with Deacon and Amelia, they're little family moment with the christmas tree is amazing. Book 3 is going to be a roller coaster and I am here for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2020As with all of Chandelle's books, I loved this one! I particularly liked the events that caused their soulmate glyphs to grow. It was interesting to get to see the shifter/Arcana dynamic and how things were put into action to make that better. Loved the scene with the chef and Emersyn and Deacon's little side thoughts during the whole thing! Also loved the interactions with Heather! Oh and the Christmas tree! That was awesome! Bringing in someone from Em's past was brilliant! I really related to Em and her angst about Tennessee approving of what they did with SOMA. OK, I could go on and on but you really just need to get this book and read it yourself!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2020Chandelle LaVaun has a way with words. She knows how to write so that you dont want to put the book down. You just have to know what's gonna happen next. And The Uptown Witch did not disappoint. Em and Deacons story is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I've always loved Em in the other books but now that she and Deacon have a season all of their own I'm one very happy reader. New york playboy falls for Southern girl and wants to better himself for her cause he sees she deserves it. And she is a southern girl wanting to show her New York boy she can keep up. Cannot wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit!
Although I must be honest and say that I already read the third of this trilogy, both, this and the last one leave you craving for more. The point of view of Emersyn particularly appeals to me as her bond with Deacon strengthens. Another hit, Chandelle!

5.0 out of 5 stars "WHAT A BOOK"
This book is amazing but the ending had me at the edge of my seat I seriously can’t wait for the next one.
Emersyn and Deacon’s chemistry is undeniable in this book, you can see how far they have come from the time they first met. They love each other more than they probably could imagine yet they don’t hold each other back. In this book Emersyn is stressing about getting the school ready for Tenn and Tegan’s arrival and is constantly worrying that the school won’t meet Tenn’s expectation. Lucky for her she has Deacon right by her said calming her down when she needs it. There are so many funny moments in this book that when I got to those parts I couldn’t stop laughing. You will meet someone from Emersyn’s past that will shock you to point where you say “Did I just read that right.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Chandelle did it again
Oh wow, another amazing book by Chandelle!!! It totally draws you in and sucks.... Sucks that it ends! I love the style of writing that is used, as a 35+ yr old I love that I can read these books, laugh, cry and want more of them, but I can recommend them to my niece who is 17 as well!
Now the actual fun stuff!!! The difference in attitudes and how Em grows in some aspects is amazing, and the fact that D is making the right choices regarding their relationship when Em isn't thinking clearly because of the curveball thrown at Em shows how much he completely adores his soulmate. The friendships formed and who's date is who's at the Yule Ball leaves just enough questions to be answered in the next books...
