RABID READER REVIEW - "Amber and her story are just delicious to read. There is a feeling of the show "Lost" in she is one woman against a big bad and struggling to survive. Rosser's writing style in Vaporized is very fluid and while I'm not a fan of man against nature movies, I think this novel would be fascinating to see on the big screen. There is a sense that Rosser may continue the story at the end, and I'd love to see that happen. This is an author who clearly has practiced his craft and arrived at any easy flow in his story.
I was thoroughly entertained by Vaporized . It was a good story with a nice flow that was very technically well written. The character, pacing and story were engrossing. I really liked this novel and will recommend it to any fans of science fiction or the human experience."
Praise for the authors previous books - "Simon Rosser's scientific and psychological thriller "Tipping Point" is one of the best I have read in the past decade. He has a gift for fluent narrative, realistic characterisation and for creating settings that come vividly to life for the reader. He blends tension and suspense very successfully against the contemporary background of global warming and its sinister implications.-Author, TV presenter and Priest Lionel Fanthorpe -"Si Rosser's new novel IMPACT POINT is an outstandingly good and enjoyable read. It welds mystery and adventure into a very well-written thriller. I recommend it 100%"

About the author

Simon was born in Cardiff, South Wales, UK, in 1968.
When he's not busy with his day job as a lawyer, he is the author of Action-Adventure-thriller novels, predominantly the Robert Spire Action Thrillers, which all have an ecological, historical, science-fiction mystery cataclysmic theme. Think James Bond mixed with Indiana Jones and a bit of environmental / historical facts thrown in for good measure...
Favorite authors include - Ed McBain, James Patterson, Lee Child, Lincoln Child, Douglas Preston, Patrick Lee, Michael Grumley, A G Riddle and Clive Cussler.
Favorite movies - Good The Bad and The Ugly, Jaws, Deliverance, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, It's A Wonderful Life, Scarface, Play Misty For Me, Electra-Glide In Blue, The Abyss, Deliverance, Contact, Alien, Predator, Interstellar, The Thing and many others.
Previous Books - THE A-Z OF GLOBAL WARMING - updated 2012 edition, and the Robert Spire Eco-terrorism action-thrillers TIPPING POINT, IMPACT POINT, MELT ZONE, CATACLYSM OF THE ANCIENTS, CRYPTO, and the GALILEO PROJECT SciFi UFO Conspiracy thrillers 1-3. The author is now working oon Spire 9 - THE VANISHED.
The author has also written Sci-fi thrillers, VAPORIZED I AND II and SALIENT, together with stand alone espionage adventure thriller, RED MIST.
All books available in Audiobook and Kindle/ebook format.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2014I used to be a regular reviewer of books on Amazon, but it has been awhile since I posted my last review. In that interim period, I have read many great books by many great authors, but other than updating my list on Goodreads.com, I have not been posting any reviews for the past 60 to 70 books that I have read. The reason why I am getting into this background is to emphasise a point: Vaporized is a good read by this upcoming author. It was good enough for me to make the effort of coming out of my hibernation and post this review. I have read all the books published by this author and have not missed any single one. I have been critical of his writing and his storytelling in the past (you can see my reviews of his books). This novel however, shows that the author has evolved from an amateurish storyteller. I will not go into the details of what the story is about, because the plot and the premise are so simple that anything that I state here can act as a spoiler (not that there is any great mystery, though). Even otherwise, many elements of this novel are not a first, and there have been previous science fictions (both movies as well as novels) on somewhat similar lines. Yet, I choose to give this a four-star because the sheer imagery, that this novel creates in the reader's mind while reading/imaging the events of this story, is extremely surreal and excitingly scary! So, please do not expect a Carl Sagan, but if an exciting short read is what you're looking for, look no further.
Note*: The novel is relatively short, and ends at the 85% mark on the Kindle. The rest contains a preview of his upcoming novel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very similar to "Orbs Trilogy" by Nicholas Sansbury Smith but not as well written
This is the second book I read by Simon Rosser (the first being Tipping Point) so I haven't given up on this author yet regardless of the many shortcomings. First of all, just like Tipping Point, this book is full of inaccuracies and not enough research has been done to provide a more realistic experience. I was particularly shocked at how badly he gets London's geography. I'm not a London expert but even I, having been to London a handful of times in the past 20 years, have a better understand of the lay of the land. In the book you have Amber driving a boat to the Shard. She goes by the Tate Modern Gallery (which is in front of the Millennium Bridge) and after that passes under the Westminster Bridge and by the London Eye (opposite direction of the shard) then she finally passes under the Millennium Bridge (again, obviously) to finally get to the Shard. I had to read that part of the book 3 times to make sure I wasn't reading wrong. C'mon man, I'm sure you have access to Google Maps to verify locations.
- When Amber is in the elevator coming down from the top floor she has to make a stop on the 32nd floor (Oblix restaurant floor) to change elevator, except that when she comes out she's confronted by an alien and she backs into the same elevator which now, magically, goes all the way down to the ground floor. And, since we're talking restaurant, I looked up the dinner menu of the Oblix online. Whereas it's certainly not a fast-food priced restaurant it is far from being the "You'll need to re-mortgage your house to eat there" kind of prices. I mean, I'm not rich but a lot of people can make an effort and afford a main course for 25-35 British Pounds ($38 - $55 USD) once in a lifetime. I might just book a table there next time I visit London.
- Amber realizes twice in the book that the explosions were from airplanes (once in the building and then again on the road). Is she suffering from Alzheimer or just bad memory?
- 60MPH in 2nd gear? Really?
- Peeing her pants and never changing? It's not like clothing stores are expensive at this point.
Her name gets used 696 times in the book. It makes it annoying, try to use more: she, or other forms.
Amber is also not a particularly intelligent person, I mean, who in their right mind wastes precious water to wash up when they've pretty much realized there's no more water on the planet? On day 4 she has only one small bottle of water left and she uses some to swill her mouth. And wasting more water to make coffee, something that actually dehydrates you when you're already dehydrated? I wanted to bitch slap her at this point.
There's a lot more that needs to be addressed in the book (which probably is common to all of Rossers' books up to this point, at least). First of all, whoever is your editor if you haven't already: Fire Him/Her! They are not doing a good job at editing. Lots of grammar errors (steel instead of steal, word repetition ("oddly bent oddly"), misuse of words ("Decals on the bonnet confirmed it belonged to..." you can't confirm something that hasn't been stated yet) and a lot of other typos. It's also an editors job to remove cliché and this book is full of them: "It's a long story" John said... something that can be explain in 3 lines is most definitely not a long story. And finally my biggest pet peeve (and this is common to many book writers, even big names): the improper use of "ago" "yesterday" etc. The moment one writes in the past tense those words cannot be used anymore because they would refer to a time that is related to the reader rather than the character in the book: "If the message she'd heard yesterday..." No! The correct form is "if the message she'd heard THE DAY BEFORE" (plus there's an abundance of "yesterdays" in the book).
And I must add that there are way too many unnecessary details. There is such a thing as boring your reader to death, Mr. Rosser. Details are good, but there's no need to spend a chapter explaining how someone opens a door (I'm exaggerating but I think that gets my point across).
I see true passion in your writing Simon Rosser, that's why I haven't given up on you yet (and I love Sci-Fi so I'll make an extra effort). You have some good ideas in your head, but please spend some time taking writing classes. Your writing is not bad, you just need to learn proper book writing techniques. And for God sake, if you haven't already, fire you editor(s). They're not helping. I haven't given up on you, don't give up on good writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2016Review: Vaporized: Alien Invasion by Simon Rosser.
I found this book to be well-written with little editing issue, loved the characters and the story was fascinating and the pacing of the story is in full action mode. I believe it won’t take long before Simon Rosser makes a name for himself among other good writers. The story was paced with action and adventure to the end. It has a mix of science fiction, adventure, horror and suspense.
Amber Lee lives in London working as a lawyer and has a three day holiday weekend that she is looking forward too. She wants to spend some time with her friends and having relaxed time for herself. As she was filtering out her events for the weekend she was listening to a repot that debris from outer space were falling through the Earth’s atmosphere and falling in remote areas of the world. Two of the objects were being tracked and they were headed for the Earths Polar Regions. However, Amber just let the report not bother her at all and went to bed early.
During the middle of the night Amber woke from a bad dream and was thirsty and went to the kitchen and remembered she forgot to pick up water. With fuzzy thoughts she remembers her Uncle’s protected storage room that had everything he would need in case of a natural disaster. Still half asleep she pressed the code to open the door of the secured room and found the water and took two bottles and drank half of one then she made her way back to bed and fell right back to sleep.
As she turned over and seen the clock stopped at 3:48 am she only thought the power most have gone off during the night. Once she was up she noticed all the clocks stopped at the same time except the pendulum clock. Amber went to take a shower and found no water. She was wondering if the whole building were experiencing the same issues.
Amber went to the lobby to ask questions and found no one around. She only found piles of sand here and there and then assumed something had happened while she was sleeping and the news report she heard the night before flashed through her mind. She became frightened and wondered if some kind of apocalyptic event happened. After checking out side she knew something was wrong. There wasn’t a person around, doors were left open and unlocked, no one was in the vehicles and some were still running and most of them were bumper to bumper or crashed into another car. All amber found were small sand piles were drivers would have been and she looked closely at the sand piles and she saw small fragments of human bones in the mix. Deep down she wanted to believe it only happened there but her instincts told her…it was the entire planet. How could everyone just vaporize off the face of Earth?
Her first thought was she wanted to go home to her mother and father who lived many miles away. Amber begins her journey home with more action and adventure and alien tendrils reaching out to her in most areas she went through…The journey home was adventurous…

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute rubbish
This started off badly by describing Alaska as near the North Pole and went down hill from there. Maybe a little geographical research would have helped. Speaking as a Canadian, I do not know I'd the writer is this ignorant or the Brits were being portrayed this way. Either way the result was irritating rubbish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down !!!
I was hooked reading the first sentences of this book. Impossible for me to put it down once started. The storyline is really good : after the landing of 2 UFO in Alaska, earth 's water Vaporized and civilization is in ruins. Amber Lee has to fight for her survival. The author provides a story meant for those who enjoy SciFi, action/adventure, thrills- another facet of his talents as a writer. I look forward to reading more...

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked the Scenario
Liked the general theme even though there were a few issues in the plot line but overall a good read. A few too may heroics and not enough expansion of the theme, no doubt could be fleshed out in a follow up but would want a BIGGER read for that one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating
I liked this read but I get frustrated when the end is in another book. Yes, I know it is a marketing tool .... but is frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story
I enjoyed reading this, it made a nice change to read an apocalyptic story based in the UK. I wish it had been longer and I will be looking out next year for the next instalment. I want to know what Amber does next.
