Puerto Rican violinist and composer César Avilés discovered his passion for music at an early age and has been studying music since the age of 14.

He holds a Master’s degree from the University of New Mexico (USA) as well as a bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico in Violin Performance. César also studied instrumental composition and film music at Berklee.

As a violinist, he has performed with every major ensemble in Puerto Rico and the state of New Mexico, USA. He is a former member of the World Orchestra and the YOA Orchestra of the Americas.

His concert compositions have been performed in Europe as well as in North and South America.

With his wife and son, César now lives near Cologne, Germany, where he serves as violin and string orchestra teacher at the Musikschule Düren.

    The exercises in this book make learning the principles of position changes a joy to learn and I thoroughly recommend it. The author was very quick to reply to my email when initiaIly I couldn't download the accompanying piano parts and he sent me the pieces in a Dropbox file which I was able to open and download onto my Tablet and then play through my Smart Speaker.
    It's an excellent investment for intermediate viola players.
    Hopefully there will also be a Book 2 !
