This is my second book by Jess Whitecroft, and I am officially a fan. This author writes fantastic stories that span a variety of romantic tropes and categories. I loved “Reckless,” a historical pirate romance. Whitecroft has also written stories about politicians, drag queens, rock stars, and movie stars. It feels like Whitecroft is revisiting all the traditional romance tropes and giving them a fresh and dynamic new spin.

This story, about a college student (20 years old) and his English professor (32 years old), should not have worked for me. I am not usually a fan of student/teacher romance; the uneven power dynamic is just too unbalanced for me. However, Whitecroft has penned a story that goes beyond the familiar, adding unique and interesting facets to this familiar plot device.

Where Whitecroft’s writing truly shines is in the creation of flawed, funny, complex, and multifaceted characters. In this story, Milos is young, often self-centered, and driven to excel in ballet. Tom is older, carries some heavy baggage, and is looking to make changes in his life. Both men have growing and changing to do over the course of the story.

The two characters have a combustible chemistry that heats up the pages, and even though their “I love you” seems to come before they fully know each other; I have a feeling that their lives together will be filled with laughter, wild escapades, and plenty of romance.

I can’t wait for my next Whitecroft literary adventure. I hope that more readers check out this fantastic author. I read my original copy through Kindle Unlimited and then went back and bought a copy to own because I love this author. Highly recommend!

I gave this book 4 stars, which means I enjoyed it but probably won’t reread it.
I don’t typically love age gap romances, but the age gap was one of the things I liked best about this book. Milos is so perfectly 20 and Tom, despite being 32, is more of an emotional mess than Milos. I liked that Tom respected Milos and didn’t condescend to him, but also reminded himself and others that Milos is still really young. I liked that Milos didn’t struggle with his sexuality at all.
The romance was...ok. I didn’t FEEL their connection as well as I have in other books, but it wasn’t a distraction. I liked the story.

Now for the things that bugged me: I’m almost positive the author is British. She clearly doesn’t know how US colleges differ from British ones, and so everything about the college where Tom worked/Milos studied was off. Additionally, the American characters all spoke British syntax and vernacular, which was noticeable.

But again- I enjoyed the book. The characters were good, I liked the plot, and I’m giving it 4 stars.

This was one of the MM or gay romance finds of the year. Nothing in particular and everything at the same time made it - like the characters and their story.

A highly enjoyable contemporary romance. Humorous. Intelligent. Sweet. Very sexy. Sharp, with MCs that are delightfully flawed and oh so likeable.
Milos is a breath of fresh air and Tom is incredulously dragged along by Hurricane Milos - complete with ballet body and good looks - who has a way of being noticed.

'This is not how I planned this meeting going. I’ve rehearsed it a hundred times or more, about how I was going to quietly but firmly explain to him that I’m very flattered, but there is no way this can happen between us. But then he crashes through the door and announces he has a sex toy lost up his bum, which rather puts a cramp in my style.
I’ll say one thing for him; he’s not boring.'

Much like the quote above, nothing about this book is boring.

I review in depth at on top down under book reviews.

I admit I've had this book in my tbr list for a while. While I was searching through my Huge library looking for something a little different from the books I'd been reading, I came across this one. I do love books with ballet/dancers as a subject matter. I'm so glad I chose this book to read. It was absolutely amazing.
The character development, the story arc, the drama. It was/is the entire package. A very well written story I enjoyed from the first page to the last.

This is my first time reading this author. It is well written and story moves along at a good pace. I wasn't sure if there would be a HEA ending given the quote from Romeo and Juliet, and the Professor's teaching expected trajectory. The characters are engaging and the read is not too ladden down with flash backs to explain personalities. The only detraction was the gratuitous inclusion of a few interjections of today's politics that completely disrupted my emersive enjoyment of the story.

Only a handful of Days after finishing this story I can't clearly recall the most basic details. The only memorable thing about it is the gorgeous cover. I was very disappointed it failed to live up to the blurb's potential.

Starts out somewhat sweet and very hot. Then grabs my emotions and makes me feel. This book surprised me as it was much more than I thought it would be. A good surprise. This is the first book that I have read by this author but differently it will not be the last.

Another amazing story from this author. A mm contemporary romance story set in the USA in a college. English Professor Tom and student of Ballet Milos are the main characters. Although this is a teacher/ student romance it is a lot more. Past history and future dreams. A great story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good !
Reviewed in Australia on December 3, 2022
I’m surprised I enjoyed this story as much as I did. I’d had it in my library for several months after seeing it as a recommendation but I kept clicking around it, for some reason always hesitant to start.

Once I did start it though, I couldn’t put it down.

I travelled along with Milos and Tom in their frenzied coupling, everything happened so fast between them and with an intensity that was a little overwhelming, even to them.

They were perfect for one another though, they each had their baggage but they each also knew that the other was worth fighting for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delight indeed

This was indeed a violent delight. I fell in love hard and fast with these characters and their story. I was sucked in and pulled along with them. This was not a sweet romance. It was a love story; messy, euphoric, heart rending love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wunderschön und leidenschaftlich
Reviewed in Germany on July 20, 2022

Gorgeously written with dark humour and wit, this is one of those books that you get dragged into before falling helplessly in love and plunging deep and fast into the hangover of the century. It's cruel in it's brilliance, outstandingly hot and get wraps you in that meant to be love of your life feelings we all crave. Adored it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tom and Milos
Reviewed in Australia on October 20, 2019
Tom is a lecturer in English literature and Milos is a smart mouthed student in his class. Milos is also a very dedicated ballet dancer. When Milos is handing in a paper, he catches Tom at a vulnerable time and this turns into a sexual experience that neither were expecting. As they tentatively begin a relationship Tom’s ex reappears and some odd things happen.
