- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2024Style: AC15C1XVerified PurchaseGreat sound! The amp is very versatile. The clean sound is absolutely stunning. Additionally, the amp’s distortion sound is fantastic. It takes pedals really well… at least the couple I have. A Russian era Muff, an English Muffin, & a DS-1. It is essential to spend the extra money to get the Celestion alnico blue speaker. This amp is loud enough for rehearsals and is also great for home recording. I tried an AC-30 and it was REALLY LOUD! The AC-15 is still loud but allows you to crank it at practice and get amazing VOX saturation. This amp does not sound the same as an AC-30. If you want that classic top boost VOX sound as heard on so many recordings you’ll need to get the 30.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2023Style: AC15C1XVerified PurchaseThe amp is really nice. It can have a clean sound or you can get it to break up without blowing your ears out. If you’re doing gigs it would be fine for a smaller club. If it’s a bigger club you can mic it and you would be fine too.
One thing they had wrong on the description is, they say it weighs 21 lbs. that is incorrect maybe 21 kg or 46lbs.
The item was shipped fast from the seller and got to my home 4 days early.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2024Style: AC15C1XI'm not going to spend time telling you what a nice sounding amp this is. It's already been said and I agree! However, this review is about the build quality, which is ridiculous considering the price point. This affects both the reissue AC15s and AC30s. Mainly it uses very cheap nylon (plastic) components that are not durable and break pretty easily. The biggest flaw that I've encountered is with the input jacks. They are cheap and break easily if your guitar cord pulls on it. The nuts easily strip and are not easy to replace. Because the inputs are vertical they are prone to breaking. ALWAYS wrap your cord around the carrying handle to alleviate the maximum pull on the inputs. Both of my inputs broke pretty quickly because this was not done. I had a difficult time replacing them. They are mounted to a cheap PC board and Vox doesn't sell this as a replacement part. They really need to do this. It's hard/impossible to find the exact replacement inputs also. Even if you do you will need to solder them to the PCB, which is challenging if you're not that experienced w/soldering. Bring it to an experienced amp tech (if you can find one) if you're don't have tech skills. But you will pay over $100 for the repair and parts.
There is a great YouTube video about how to replace these with stronger, more durable Switchcraft jacks. But the model he is working on is a discontinued Vox AC30CC2, which was discontinued. So bear this in mind when you're purchasing a Vox. Fender reissue amps use Switchcraft jacks, which are better.
As consumers we need to demand better from Vox and other companies who charge what they do but use cheap components in critical places to maximize profits. Also Vox needs to make replacement components that are easy to replace to support its' customers better.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2021Style: AC15C1XI have owned this amp with the Blue Celestion Speaker since 2018. It is really awesome. Very powerful amp. Capable of cutting through in a live setting and very articulate. Make sure you get it with the Blue Celestion Speaker ....I am pretty sure the C1X designation does have the Blue Celestion Speaker but make sure. This is the same amp speaker combo as U2's Edge and countless others.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2023Style: AC15C1XVerified Purchase"I want to record in my room and.."
This One. Get a good reactive attenuator. Weber Mass is the cheapest real one.
"But I want that sound. You know, the one from"
This One. Most of that sound is the Alnico Blue speaker. This one has it. And while it's the absolute best sounding speaker made for cleans, with nothing else coming anywhere close, it does punk and metal as well as a V30 at lower volumes. I'd never gig with a blue. I'd use the V30. it's for that. But I'd never record without the blue.
"I've heard that tube rectifiers are the first tubes to blow out"
THIS ONE.
One of the main reasons to pick this one. It doesn't have tube rectification. It has an outstanding solid state rectifier that makes it sound exactly like an AC30.
"I want an AC30 but I don't want it to cost/weight ..."
THIS ONE. Especially this one. This version of the AC15 is a half output AC30 with the exact same sparkle and chime because the preamp is identical. It's not like the very original AC15. No ef86 tube. But you can get close enough with an ECC803S from JJ in v1 for cleans. Still this one. Save 30 pounds. Arguable have better tone. Some folks think so. I think it's the same amazing tone.
Now, there's an exception to THIS ONE. "I need a real effects loop". You can either get an AC30, or get an Attenuator that includes an effects loop. There are a few like that and they are all high quality.
"I don't need a cab/speaker"
AC15C1 head. IT has an amazing built in attenuator. But, and I can not stress this more.
If you ever plan to own an alnico blue speaker, just do it. If you don't you'll waste thousands of dollars on things that are close. What I do now is get the amp with either a V30 or Blue, and buy the replacement and put it aside. I did that this time. I have a V30 speaker in the closet. Just get the 1x12 model if you aren't sure. You won't regret it. This is probably the best sounding amp Vox has ever made.
This one. Ok, one more.
"I don't need tank reverb or tremolo"
Get the AC10. Save some money. It sounds outstanding with the stock speaker. Some think it is the best sounding vox ever. It's not but I get why they think so. The important thing is it's within 99 percent of it without having a blue speaker, costing less, and weighting almost nothing by Vox standards. The AC10 is what I almost got. I needed the reverb. If I didn't need the reverb I'd be saying That One.
One caution on the AC10 though. You can think of the AC15 and AC30 customs as "long term amps". Because of how they are constructed. The main reason being they are using higher quality components, and are easier to repair if they need service. The AC10 is made different. The board uses a combination of surface mount and regular components. This makes it about three times harder to work on if something needs replaced like a burned out resister filtering your el84. That said, you are 500 bucks in on the AC10 and it sounds amazing and does pedals well, just like every other Vox. it's even just loud enough to gig with if your drummer isn't a sadist.
But if you aren't sure, save up twice as much and just get this one (the ac15 with a blue). This one has no real compromises.
Hope this helps.
