These Walls Can Talk: An Audio Play Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.8 out of 5 stars 78 ratings

It's totally normal to fall in love with an audiobook narrator's voice, right?

Right.

Just ask Vera, who listens to "her" guy whenever and wherever she can: while driving, working, parenting, cooking, cleaning, showering...you name it.

But now, she's bringing him into the bedroom. And her husband is less than pleased.

These Walls Can Talk is a raucous and heartfelt love letter to romance audiobooks: the authors who write them, the narrators and engineers who record them, and the passionate fans who devour them.

Absolutely hilarious! This was my first audio play so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's like listening to a multicast audiobook, complete with sound effects. It very much feels like you are listening to a live stage performance. The cast is incredible, and if you listen to audiobooks in the romance genre, you will definitely recognize them.

It really is the perfect balance of the self-deprecation of voice actors and the world of romance novels, and revealing the beauty of that world and how amazing it is to be storytellers of love.

I was either laughing hysterically at some of the completely over the top and ridiculous traits that one finds in many romance novels or "awwwing" at the moments of sweetness and self-awareness between characters.

This is a must-listen if you are an author, narrator, or fan of romance.

I absolutely loved listening to These Walls Can Talk, an Audio Play, by Erin Mallon. It is a quick listen with a powerful punch. A story about an everyday couple, two authors and narrators and a quirky technician. I just loved Vera. I resonated with her so much. As readers and listeners, we got lost in stories so I totally got where she was coming from. Because who does not love Joe Arden’s voice, right? And when Cameron finally sits down and talks to her, my heart. I cried and laughed. It was perfect. Then you have Georgia, Niffer (I loved that), Neal and Atticus. Such an amazing group of characters. I highly recommend listening to this one.

    Happy listening!

Need a fun pick me up? Love the romance genre? If yes is your answer, you definitely need to check this out.
The description says this audible is a love letter to the authors, narrators, and the readers of the romance genre, and that description says it all. With some slightly over the top characters that poke fun at the genre in the best self deprecating ways, this play will have you smiling, laughing out loud, and wondering how much of this is based on some truth on some level.

I can’t get enough of Erin’s writing and this play will be forever on my repeat listen list. It is hysterical fun and my go listen when I need a good laugh. The entire cast is phenomenal and I can’t wait to listen to the next installment. I loved that the bloopers were included they were just as funny as the entire play. Definitely pick this one up you will not be sorry.

There is absolutely nothing better in Romance Comedy than a book written by a narrator poking fun at all the aspects of the genre. Listeners can see themselves in this book, we find characteristics of our favorite voice actors & authors, and get a sneak peak in the mind of an audio producer. It all leads into one hilarious coming together of all these amazing lives crossing in an epic moment! ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOU LAUGH UNTIL YOU PEE!!

This is such a funny short story and an absolute must listen for romance audiobook fans. I'm not really sure that story was the right word. It was more a play with different scenes and multiple characters but it told a fun story over all.

So many great narrators were a part of this and I will absolutely be listening to it again many times in future.

Just short of 2 hours and 20 minutes for your audio credit to find out what’s happening in audioland with this fantastic bunch of narrators. One thing I know for sure - I’m not going to fall in love with the beep beep boop. So happy to have listened to this series - 4 stars throughout, lost a star because of the cost. Not exactly value for money in the big picture.

In this brief book I laughed so many times. I loved every bit of it and all the narrators were perfectly cast. I won't spoil it for you but one of the running jokes in the story made me laugh out loud every time it came up. And I will never see a sexy gap-toothed smile the same way again.
