- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2013I went a little backwards in the Amardillo Series because there is a sequel to “Warrior Nights” and wanted to read them back to back. I love the fact that the two main characters are so strong and both army vets. Trace, well over 6 feet tall, gorgeous and built like a Greek god is suffering from PTSD after returning home from an Iraqi prison camp. Through his sister Brodie, Trace meets Kyle whom Brodie works with. Kyle was “Dishonorably Discharged” after “being caught in the act” with another man, who happened to be his boyfriend at the time.
Although there is an immediate attraction on both sides, Trace has issues with Kyle on being Dishonorably Discharged. Trace is also in the closet even though his sister Brodie knows that Trace is attracted to men. Trace and Kyle are brought together because someone is stalking Brodie. We are also introduced to an adorable male nurse named Ryan whom has had a long standing crush on Trace.
The book gives graphic detail on a soldier’s life in Iraq and how it affects them mentally as well as physically. The writing is crisp. The action is fierce. I am really looking forward to reading the other two books in the Armadillo Series.
The epilogue is a scorcher and I am so glad that there is a sequel called, “Over the Road”. If you have not begun reading any of Patricia Logan’s books, “Warrior Nights” is a great one to start with!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020If you like triads, military and a crazed serial killer. This is a book for you. I loved the plot. Also some real PTSD trauma.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2018Another fantastic story in this series that combines drama, romance and bunches of sexual tension! I absolutely recommend this book to everyone!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2024These heroes experienced some horrible things while fighting for their country, especially Trace. And to encounter the depravity of evil who feels that gay men are a sin but not his own deeds. It would be funny if it wasn't so horrendous and depraved. Also, I wish that we could have gotten to know Ryan much better and that he was more involved in the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2017I enjoyed the book very much. The reason I gave it 3 stars and not 4 was because of the military terminology. The words soldier and Marine are not interchangeable. The Marines are their own branch of service. A Marine would not let someone call them a soldier. And since Kyle was a Marine he would have known better. I know this will probably not bother most people but it is a pet peeve of mine. I believe that if authors are going to write stories with a military theme then they should do research. Other than that I enjoyed the book. Patricia Logan is usually an auto buy for me!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2013The plot was good but the execution, oh boy! A few things that made me question the age of the author and whether someone actually read this book before it got the nod...(Spoiler alert maybe..) a detective responds to a call out for vandalism of a vehicle. He had no idea who the perpetrator was and therefore had no reason to be there except the author needed to introduce him to the case. Surely a uniformed officer could have read the note realized it was important, handed it in as evidence and this way introduce Ty(detective) to the case which would have made it a little more realistic. Then we get to the serial killer and it just gets worse. All the evidence points to Brodie being stalked by a serial killer yet there is no protection given to her by either her brother, best friend or even the police. Makes no sense at all. I'm one of many who don't really care for insta love in romances and this one really takes the cake. Kyle meets Ryan for the first time during a night out at a club with Trace and there's insta lust. By morning it is uproot the life that you have in another city and move in with me as I can't live without you kinda love! It's as if the author didn't have the patience or the inclination to work Ryan into the story so that the characters could get to know one another and then fall in love. It's not as if the author ran out of pages to work with as the story ended at 93% yet again on my kindle with the rest of the pages dedicated to upcoming books. Having said this I really liked all the characters but feel they would have fared better with a more skilled author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hot sizzling read. Highly recommend
Wow A stunning book.. this has it all that keeps you reading. I laughed with Trace and Kyle and cheered them on. Oh there's a little gorgeous suprise in this too that makes them complete. Hot scenes of Dom and submission and danger with a mystery of finding a bad guy. I purchased the audio of this and read along with the narratored of D. L. Mann who does a fantastic job..
Trace went through hell while being captured in a war zone.. He was the only one to be rescued. His twin sister tried to help while caring for there other sister..Trace suffered badly from PTSD , and he needed help with his drinking too..
Kyle watch his employee Brodie look run down. Kyle operating at karate studio and knew about Trace's problems.
A house fire at Trace and Brodie causes a meeting for Kyle and Trace... Their fire and chemistry was set on a short fuse to ignition . But when danger is at hand and one of their lives is threatened there's no stopping events spinning.
