War's Mate: Honey Creek Den Book 1 Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 1,231 ratings

When the created warlock's son goes searching for his mate, will he find him in time?

Growing up in a coven with only one other shifter around doesn’t allow Arik much of an opportunity to find his mate, and he doesn’t know when or where he’ll find him. When dreams about his mate start interrupting his sleep, he’s content to wait for them to find each other. That is, until he dreams that his mate is in danger.

Alpha War has all but given up on ever finding his true mate. He’s looked for centuries, but so far, no luck. Then when his den starts being attacked by the local coven, all thoughts of finding his mate leave his mind. He only wants to protect his den members like any alpha would.

When an altercation with the coven turns deadly, the last thing War expects is for his mate to appear out of thin air, literally. Arik knew his mate was in trouble so he got his twin to teleport the two of them to the place he’d been dreaming about.

War is happy to have found his mate but can he accept a union with another coven? He already has enough witch problems; will a coven of warlocks be any different? But can he really say no to his fated mate? Is Arik willing to leave his peaceful coven for a den full of chaos? With problems lurking, babies coming, and warlocks “poofing” in and out at odd times, will War and Arik ever find time alone for sexy times?

War’s Mate is book one in the Honey Creek Den Series. Each book contains a fated mate pair, Mpreg, lots and lots of knotting during growly sexy times, babies, no cheating, and a HEA. These bears will do anything their mates ask, just read and see. The Honey Creek Den Series is meant to be read in order even though each book focuses on a different couple. This book is intended for adults only as these shifters tend to get growly and don’t watch their language.

The Men of Crooked Bend Series is my first published series and those Redfeather men will always have a special place in my heart. It was incredibly difficult to let those men go. It was originally supposed to be a trilogy but it ended up as an eleven-book series. In the Men of Crooked Bend series, you get to know the cowboys and other men of Wild Creek Ranch in Crooked Bend, Wyoming (a totally fictitious town). The series is set in the foothills of the Grand Teton Mountains, a place I fell in love with as a teenager.

Sulfur Springs is a closely related spin-off series to the Men of Crooked Bend. In it you leave Wild Creek Ranch and go to the little neighbor town of Sulfur Springs and meet the sexy men of the Sulfur Springs Fire Depart, the sheriff's department, as well as quite a few US Marshals. You see some familiar faces but you also meet some very new ones. It’s a complete series and has nine books to round off that world in a twenty-book world.

I love to read, it’s always been one of my favorite things to do since I can remember. When I started writing, I couldn't decide if I wanted to write contemporary or paranormal as I love both. I chose contemporary but still, paranormal was talking to me and those darn shifters kept saying, “tell our story, it’ll be fun.” So I did. And it was. That’s how I started what’s turned into Edison’s world. lol

It starts with the bears of the Honey Creek Den series. Honey Creek is another totally fictitious town set on Flathead Lake (a real place) in Montana. I've never been there, but hope to get there at some point. Honey Creek Den is finished with the planned six books. The Timber Valley Wolf Pack is the second series in that world and is also finished with six books. After the bears and wolves, I of course needed to give you Edison and his warlocks! The Warlocks of Amherst Series takes us away from the den and pack and we get to travel to Amherst, Massachusetts for some fun. The Vampires of the Beloved Gem follow Master Nikolai and his wayward vampires as they float up and down the Mississippi River in their riverboat casino. The Paranormal Council Enforcers is where we’ve ended up, and it is my current series. We’re meeting all kinds of enforcers who are busy dealing with evil while trying to win the affections of their fated mates.

When I'm not busy drinking coffee and writing about warlocks, vampires, wolves, or dragons (to name just a few), I like to read (who doesn't?). Because of my limited free time, I’m fond of short stories and novellas. I can be found on Amazon, Book Bub, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

This series Honey Creek Den Series - A Paranormal Shifter Series

Several couple find their mate but unexpected means but "perfect timing", even if they disagree.

Book 1 Arik is a tiger shifter and his twin is a warlock. War the den Alpha the day he needs miracles he gets a gift.  This book hit home when you think you have had a bad day - was it life or death? Then a reminder it could be worse. Keep your cup grateful you have ONE to fill up (not half full or half empty but a place to start).

Book 2 Troy shifter and Dens second in command and Elliot a warlock Rain & Erik brother. This is a great book to honor and be true to yourself is the best gift. To learn your lessons from past mistakes and to not repeat them.

Book 3 Ryker is a park ranger and a shifter & meets warlock and Arik's twin. The worry is Rain disappears upon meeting. This is the best reminder not to " assume" but to communicate to protect the heart & head from spinning.

Book 4 Grayson and Hai both shifters and both working as rangers. This story is standing up for your beliefs or see out dated and hateful beliefs threaten a future. Self confidence is something most have to work to accomplish.

Book 5 Deputy Gage shifter and Linus a young shifter that lost his entire family and has an injuries mate trying to give space. This is a great book for knowing family may be 1 or more but living and planning future is important but living in moment helps to heal the heart!

Book 6 Jules shifter+ and Orin shifter and War the Alpha brother. Orin didn't want to wait for a fated mate but had unrequited love. A year returns to pack and a lost pack seeking sanctuary brings a treasure. This is the best story for perseverance and never to give up.

Would have like a story for Brice shifter and Attic us a human - can't wait til their story?

MM romance with shifter with some variety I liked.

Hmm, well I liked it I suppose. There's lots of steam which did begin to bore me but that's just me. The characters and story are a little cheesy and flat. Very fluffy read even with the evil witch attacking shifters all over. She hardly seemed relevant for this book and I believe that her storyline will take place over the rest of this series at least. I liked the setup for the next book. I am interested in reading more of this series but I think I will take breaks in between the books in case they are all sort of fluffy, steamy reads.

What a great start to a new series! This world has it all: fated mates, a rogue witch, twins, mpreg, and sex that is off the charts hot! The characters are well thought out and intriguing. I felt fully invested in their lives. Although the story doesn't resolve all the issues, there is HEA. And the next book is set up nicely.
Arik is a tiger raised in a coven. When his dreams tell him his mate needs help, his twin Arin, warlock, poofs him to the Den. War is the Den alpha bear. After battling a witch, he brings his brother home, dead, shot with magically enhanced bullets. He doesn't expect to find his mate, who helps save his brother's life. But War & Arik are perfect for each other.
Come. Meet the Den members, Arik's unique family, and the wolf neighbors. I guarantee you will love this book! I can't wait to read the next book.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

The first book in the Honey Creek Den series was full of surprises for me. I thought I was just going to be reading about shifters, but immediately was introduced to Massachusetts Warlocks. I won a paperback version of Book 3 and I promised the author I'd start the series as soon as I could. I had already purchased Book 1, before I was gifted with the third book. That left 3 more books for me to also read.

Since I am almost done with the second book I could tell that this first book was not as polished. While I really enjoyed it, I think the 2nd book is more detailed. Then the author began pulling out surprises left and right, making the story quite entertaining. I definitely will be reading the remaining books in the series.

The Alpha Bear of a mixed shifter Pack or Den had his mate literally drop in on them. Fortunately the young Warlock also happened to be a Doctor so he was able to save a very important Den member. But the mate pull proved rather distracting. This is an erotic romance. That Bear and Warlock were bound & determined to consummate their bond again & again. But the young Warlock was uncertain of his role and place in this new shifter society. He kept making mistakes, as anyone would, but he felt especially guilty & upset. He hated disappointing his mate.

The reader is introduced to a shifter in the Wolf pack, a coven of Witches, a Lion pride and a vindictive harpy, bent on the destruction of them all. A mpreg is experienced by the young Warlock. We meet members of his family as he acclimates to this Alpha mate's Den. There are light moments, but mostly everyone is in a defensive mode. Excitement and danger abound. The second book has an interesting start based on the end of the first book.

War and Arik are absolutely wonderful together. The fact that the fates knew exactly what needed to be done to get Arik to War just amazes me. The instant attraction in these fated mates stories always amazes me, being able to find your soul mate and know immediately is beautiful. Taylor is amazing, her work is always epic, and she’s absolutely wonderful at giving her guys the happy endings they deserve. 😀❤️

Never thought I would say this but there was just too much sex. I think that more than half of the book is just sex scenes, and at some point there were so many that I just skipped them. Also, War is so sweet with his mate but he has no empathy for his brother, and the way he blamed Orin for developing feelings for Troy is cruel and ridiculous.

It was different to the shifter books I read before they normally wait awhile before actually mating. Also the whole warlock and witch's was different however I really enjoyed this book.

It would have been 4* if it wasn't for one thing the constant calling of Alpha and kitten sometimes yeah sweet constantly I was like they have names.
