The Werewolf's Fae Mate (BlackEdge Pack Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 427 ratings

He never expected his mate to be fae. Now he has to choose between his heart and his pack.

When mixed-blood werewolf Mahon comes across powerful fae magic in a nightclub, dealing with the threat is a chance to prove to his new pack where his loyalties lie. But the threat turns out to be a gorgeous, wide-eyed college student who’s never heard of the supernatural world. After they're attacked by bloodsucking vampire bats, he takes Oscar and his small, angry cat home for their own protection. He’ll definitely tell his pack about Oscar...later.

Abandoned as an infant, Oscar’s always wondered where he came from—he just never expected the answer to include pointy ears, magical powers, and evil forces trying to kill him. Oscar knows he shouldn’t rely on Mahon for help, but it’s hard to resist when a six-foot-six werewolf literally sweeps you off your feet. The key to Oscar’s past might lie with the local fae court—where werewolves aren’t welcome.

Oscar and Mahon are mates—but how can they be together when it might cost them both everything?

The Werewolf’s Fae Mate is an m/m paranormal werewolf/fae romance with a HEA and no cliffhangers.

I discovered Liv Rider’s books a while ago and I have been enjoying a lot her writing style, her interesting stories and wonderful characters. Mahon and Oscar’s story has some romance, magic, intrigue and action. What a way to start a series! I can’t wait for Aidan’s story!

This was a fascinating read to me. The characters are well done and very distinctive. Mahon (half werewolf, half fae) and, Oscar (pure fae) are true mates, and engaging in their own ways, with elemental powers that Oscar has to learn to use. I also liked Aidan, Mahon's brother who had his own set of issues, that I was hoping would be fixed by the end of the story, somehow. However, Mahon sometimes drove me bonkers with his lack of communication towards Oscar. I mean, he wanted Oscar to "keep his options open" with everything (his life choices) that he's facing, without letting Oscar know what all of his options even are, leading to misunderstood actions (which I detest). The plot was intriguing, and the villain was definitely extraordinary. I loved the writing structure, and the ending was so heartwarmingly beautiful. Oscar had a crazy cat named, Marshmallow, who was brave, fierce, and pretty feral at times, making the last line of the book totally amusing. Loved this.

The foundation of this story was good, but the short length didn’t do it any favors. This is the first book in series and as such, a lot is thrown our way. But things happen so fast, most of it is forgettable. The entire opening sequence, with Oscar at the club, was just confusing. And then followed almost immediately by Mahon showing up at Oscar’s place and the attack of the poison-breathing bats just made things crazier to follow. Most of the story is driven by poor communication between Oscar and Mahon. The most sensible character is Mahon’s brother Aiden.
The characters are likable, including Saba, the pack alpha, so hopefully the following stories in this series will take their time to really develop the plot line and characters.

Being left on the steps of an orphanage is a tough way to begin life. But that has nothing on what he's just been told! The shocks follow one after another. The only thing he can rejoice about it he seems to have a mate...a pack...and a family!

I loved this. So much tension and love rolled into this paranormal romance. A beautiful HEA.

I enjoyed this book. It was very well written. It just felt a little rushed. Perhaps if it was a little bit longer so that the bits that were rushed could be fleshed-out a bit more. Overall, a very good story.

This is the first book by this author I have read. I really enjoyed it. I just wish it had been longer. There was so much more that the author could’ve expanded on in the storyline to make it even better. Mahon and Oscar were great together, I just wish there had been more. I also really thought that with Oscar’s new powers that he would ‘heal’ his brother-in-law Aidan as well. I was surprised to discover that didn’t happen.

The author did wrap up the story rather quickly, much to my sorrow. I really wanted to read more in this world she had created. Maybe the author will consider a sequel in the works with Aiden and his sexy friend the incubus?! Or even the Alpha. So much potential to make this into a series if she wants to. That’s a hint by the way, Liv! LOL!

Who cant pass a book about Wolves and Fairies all in one. Oscar does not have a family and when he meets Mahon all that he knew is about to change. The best part is Oscar cat and way that she try to protect her owner even if it means going up against a big wolf. The journey that these two travel and the miscommunication that had about their feeling for each other. Cant wait to see what happens in the next book hopefully we see more of Mahon brother. highly recommend this book

This was a fun and interesting read. I loved that we got alternating POV from Oscar and Mahon, allowing us to get to know them better. The worldbuilding was good, but needed a little more depth to really allow a reader to sink into the book. Same with the storyline - it flowed well but needed a little more detail to really hit the mark. The shorter book length didn't help with the depth, and also meant closing out of some plot points was quite rushed. Overall a good read and I'm interested in reading Aidan's story.
