Wicked Devil: A Standalone Enemies to Lovers Romance (Boys of Sun Valley Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 6,333 ratings

New town. New school. Same nightmare.

When I lost my mom, I thought the worst was over. Moving to Sun Valley to live with a father I barely know is punishment all over again.

I need to survive the year, then leave this town behind.

Roman Valdez has other plans.
Star receiver. King of the school. The Devil in cleats.

From day one, it’s his mission to ruin me.

Except something about his actions don’t add up. One moment, he’s tearing me apart. The next, he’s stepping in, protecting me like I belong to him.

His touch burns, his words cut, and every glance pulls me deeper into a dangerous game I can’t afford to lose.

In a town where football is everything, Roman Valdez might be the one thing that breaks me—or the only one who can make me whole.

Boys of Sun Valley Snippet

“I’m broken,” I tell him because it’s true. I’m broken, my pieces jagged and sharp. I don’t know if I’m even capable or even willing to be intimate with him after everything I’ve been through, and he doesn’t need that. He doesn’t need my baggage. For what, a few months of bliss? We’re graduating in a few short months. And then what?

“Let me pick up all your broken pieces and put you back together. Let me be your anchor when you’re lost and the world keeps spinning around you.”

Perfect start to an amazing HS bully romance!
5 out of 5 stars
Perfect start to an amazing HS bully romance!
PERFECTION!!! I thoroughly enjoyed my second reading of this sultry balance of a dark, bully romance and “machismo” with multicultural alphas depicted in each story. Wicked Devil will grab you from page one and leave you unable to put the book down! As one of the ruling Devils at Sun Valley High, Roman Hernandez sets his sights on the new girl from Richland. Except Allie is unlike all the girls that swoon for the King Devil; instead she rivals him as an equal. And when trauma tests the boundaries of this couple, this unrelenting possessive alpha will do anything to keep her. Also, the spicy and steamy encounters were insanely hot…GAH, the classroom scenes were [insert your choice expletive! ;) ] and the chemistry was off the charts! “Let me pick up all your broken pieces and put you back together. Let me be your anchor when you’re lost and the world keeps spinning around you.” Overall, this rating is for continued world building, solid character development, and intriguing writing style. Daniela Romero has made me an instant fan, and this series continues to be one I can/have returned to for a re-read, this being my second time. Please that more answers come in the subsequent novels, so be sure to read all books in this amazing series.

Loved this book and I fell in love with all 3 of the devils.

Allie has been through so much and goes through even more during this book. Watching her struggle brought me to tears. Roman is a bully and a jerk to her. I'm glad she made him grovel and didn't just automatically forgive him.

I can't wait for Emilio and Dom's stories because I love those men!

This book was okay. I didn’t like the SA in it. I feel like every book like this with a bad boy who bullies the Mc has SA in it. I’ve literally read two other books with the same premise and they also had SA like can we think of other plot points like at this point it’s getting lazy. I will say the author did handle it nicely and gave a good wrap up of her getting help and working through it. That is more than most books but I am getting tired of seeing it. Overall it wasn’t bad but wasn’t great, it was average. 3/5

So this book has been on my TBR for a while now and I finally got around to reading it. I gotta say it was a pretty good bully/ enemies to lovers romance. Now it does talk about Sexual Assault and how the main character Is dealing with that. I understand that SA can be a touchy subject so I wanna warn future readers that it does talk about it. 1st I want to point out that Allies bio dad is a POS. Not only has he shown blatant disrespect towards the death of her mom but also how she's dealing with the SA. He chooses not to get her any help basically says she needs to get over it because she's been almost 2 weeks locked up in her room not eating basically not really coping. The 1 friend that she had over he basically down talk to to her friend who is a male, because he cares more about appearances than anything.

The story is about the 2 main characters Allie and Roman. So after the death of allies mom she end up going to live with their bio dad that she's never known, who's been absent all of 17 years. She not only has to move to a new town but also has to go to a new school. There we're introduce to Roman, one of the Devils basically king of the school. Roman is a company by his 2 best friends Dom and Emilio. All 3 devils Or on the football team and basically run the school. Roman decides to make Allie a target, because he thinks he can do whatever he wants. So then one weekend away at a camping thing Roman over hears a conversation Allie is having on the phone with her ex, that's when he finds out about her mom. Sometime after that they start Seeing each other but not really seeing each other And eventually Roman starts to develop feelings towards Allie. And invites her to the biggest football game of the year. Now that same night is the night that she was SA by 2 men sending a message to her father. Roman not knowing what had happened thinks that she bailed on him, and because Allie didn't want to talk or see anyone. He starts acting like a dick when he finally does see her. This goes on for about a week. One night when ally's leaving the diner after finishing up work she sees a strange man across the street and already she is starting to panic. which is understandable. She tries calling Janessa, her father who neither answers. She thinks about calling Roman but after the way he's been treating her she couldn't instead she calls Dom. She tells Dom what happened about the strange man outside the diner and he agrees to go pick her up and take her home. While he's waiting for her police cruisers start showing up and they immediately accuse him of being a suspect in a stolen vehicle, they immediately draw their weapons on him. Allie stepped in and is trying to talk to the officers letting them know that he's there to pick up and what they're accusing him of is not true, but the officer is not wanting to listen to what Allie is saying. Allie then asks for the chief of police stating that his son goes to school with her and Dom and that he's best friends with Roman. To protect Dom from the officers she gets down and wraps her arms around to covering his body with hers like a shield. Luckily during this altercation she did call Roman so he heard everything and got his dad and they both went to the scene, they got there in time and his dad basically told all the officers to leave and the main officer that was there got quite the chewing. After thing was settled Allie manages to slip away to go home. That's also the same night that both Roman and Dom find out about the SA from Roman's dad. Finding out what actually happened to her the night of the game Roman feels like a total ass. He then tries to do everything he can to make up for what he did to her. He begs her to give him a 2nd chance. He expresses in his own way what she means to him, how important she has to him. She does decide to give him the second chance because she does truly care about him as well. She eventually gets the help that she needs and starts to become happy again. Her and Romans relationship grows much more. It does end on a happy ending for the 2.

This first book in the series has a bit of darkness to it. Mind the trigger warnings because they’re real. But it isn’t a HS bully romance like I originally thought. Roman might be the school’s top alphahole and he did have some very bullish thoughts about making life difficult for Allie when she first arrived just to show her who’s boss, but it didn’t come to much. Allie transferred in the middle of senior year and all she wants is to graduate and get out from her estranged father’s home. She’s resilient and smart. These two have a deeply passionate and volatile relationship. I never like 3rd act breakups, and I hated this one even more as it happened right after Allie’s assault. This is not a spoiler. I think anyone with this trigger should flat out know about it.

I’m disappointed that Allie’s father sort of disappeared from the story. There should’ve been more written about his involvement.

I love the progression of their love story, how Roman goes all out for Allie, and how she slowly finds the strength and help she needed to recover from her assault. I’m glad the author at least dealt with the aftermath, even superficially. I love their friends who at this point, are family. The ending was a bit abrupt. Looking forward to reading Emilio’s story next.

I loved this story 😍 it had some moments that were hard to read through (check your triggers) but I am so glad they weren't sugar coated! Allie is so strong through the whole book and a strong FMC is the best part of reading. She goes through hard times and she fights her way back and the fact that she makes Roman grovel a little was such an important part of the story. I hate when the main male character is a jerk and immediately forgiven.

I also adored the friendships in this book. Both her friends from her previous school and Romes friends who tried to protect her even when they weren't sure why she was upset.
I can't wait to read their stories!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet but emotional
Reviewed in India on June 6, 2023
The story is sweet and simple for a girl who is in grief and transferred schools and how a bullied college romance starts up until one day everything changed and the unexpected strikes and the world takes a total 360-degree change. It all ramped up the emotions and made everything hypersensitive. Fate is testing the love and devotion here and how well Roman can regain control of the life he wants with Allie. Do read the triggers, it was an easy but not-so-easy journey for Allie. She is a strong character and with the help of all the near ones she comes out even stronger. The road to a happy ending was not easy but has kept me hooked to all the pages from start to finish to know what comes next.

    It’s a 3.5⭐️ for me.

This is a powerful start to the series and holy heck, I was just not prepared for the completely heart wrenching story line. Book one is Allie & Roman's story!

"𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐧 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡, 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐬."

When Allie's whole world is torn and ripped upside down & thrown with a new family, new life, new school it is only just the beginning.

Allie is a strong gentle brave character who has been through an abundance of trauma in a short amount of time. My heart aches for the pain she's been through & i cried with her that for sure. Allie's mantra to herself will pull your heart in a billion directions. But she's stumbled upon the Devils & one in particular...

"𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐳 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈’𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐱"

Instantly we get to know who the devils are and hot damn it Roman is every girls dream, broody, hot, arrogant alpha with a whole darker side to him. (Damn can i go to Sun Valley High Please!)  His two best friends, Emilo and Dominique WOW are unique characters and i am so excited to know their stories. Put the three of them together as the Devils and I've picked my jaw off the floor and finally stopped drooling!! 🥵

Allie & Roman's chemistry is raw, sexy & passionate and damn all the teasing and goading is beautifully written and there is some series sauciness to them!!

"𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮.”

Could Allie go through anymore pain and heartbreak. My whole heart shattered for her and for Roman when he discovers the truth. The ending for me just was exactly what they both needed and i have finished feeling complete, alebit her dad is a doucheeeee!!!

This is my first read by Daniela & certainly isn't my last!! Roll on book 2 in the series ❤

So I decided to give the story another try and I liked it. The MCs were cool but si also loved other characters, like Don and Kasey who I’m shipping! Also, the story helped me understand the other one better. St some point, the ora or al world was confusing and a bit forced so in this mortal world, It made better sense.
