Wilder at Heart: A Steamy Fake Dating, Opposites Attract Romantic Comedy (Love in London) Kindle Edition
And God knows, I need to get into my family’s good books after an indiscretion with a couple of blonde twins on a reality TV show. My family is not happy, and they’ll never trust me with a chunk of their hotel empire unless I can prove I’m the mature, settling down type.
Enter Nora. She’s waiting for the ex who dumped her to come to his senses and whisk her off for a future of kids and labradors. Brutal.
But, lack of personality aside, she’s absolutely gorgeous. I wonder if I can talk her into some real benefits alongside our fake relationship…
Wilder at Heart is a fake dating, opposites attract, forced proximity romcom where he falls first.

About the author

I like to change things up! I spent my 20s as a banker and my 30s bringing up small children and running my own fashion brand (Madderson London).
Now, aged 42, I find myself writing, and I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.
I’ve always loved writing. My daughter Tilly has an old notebook of mine filled with half-finished stories and accompanying drawings. I’ve read for as long as I can remember, guzzling up books so quickly that my mum always protested that I couldn’t be reading them properly. You can see my original, dog-eared version of A Little Princess in my photo. Its protagonist, Sara Crewe, is one of my all-time favourite heroines (alongside Anne Shirley, naturally).
I published my first book, Metamorphosis, in February 2020, right before lockdown happened. It’s a non-fiction book about escaping from our cocoons and living as a butterfly. As lockdown progressed, I found escapism in devouring lots of delicious chick-lit (for want of a better title) and I realised I had a few novels in me too. The results are Food for Thought and Parents and Teachers, and I have loved every single minute of writing them. I’d like to thank my puppy, Charlie, for waking me at dawn every morning—it turns out that when you’re a parent in lockdown, those early mornings represent precious creative time.
I’ve published my books independently, and I love the freedom it provides. The world of independent publishing is fascinating and so empowering—I’m delighted to share more of my experiences of self-publishing if you’re interested.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2024Another great series with Love in London. The way Sara writes these stories tugs straight to your heart. Every character is so well written, and the love that is found (along with the hot AF sex) is so beautiful. Read them all and enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2025This book is a great take on the trope of finding a rogue whom you transform into a great guy. Except, she's not trying to transform him because she doesn't think she can.
But he has a problem. He wants his family to take him more seriously and give him a bigger piece of the family business. She can help him by being his perfect fake good-girl girlfriend and making him look better to his family, and he can reciprocate by helping her make the man she really wants jealous.
The book is well written with lots of scenes that make the most of this trope. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I found it too lengthy. I would have liked it better if it was shorter, but for someone else it might be the perfect cup of tea.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2022Oh my word. Sara has done it again! I don’t know what it is about her writing, but it all really resonates deeply with me. This book was fantastic!!
I absolutely adored Nora and Theo. These two are just something else! So entertaining to read, as they have to fake being a couple in order to make Nora’s ex jealous and also convince Theo’s family that he’s a mature adult capable of more responsibilities in the family business.
Nora is a wedding planner and I love her type-A personality. She’s a hard worker and successful woman, she just needs someone to make her see her true worth, and that no douche ex who dumped her for a blonde bimbo is worth her time. Our flirty but lovely Theo is just what she needs. He is funny, but driven. People underestimate him as only a party boy, but he is wicked smart and has a great mind for business and entrepreneurship, if only his family could see past his shenanigans. Nora will make him question everything and sort out his priorities in life.
Nora and Theo complement and bring out the best in each other. The flirting and banter was cute, and fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and executed flawlessly by Sara. The spice? SPICYYYY! The epilogue? Everything you want it to be.
Nora and Theo will melt your heart! This is an absolute must-read for the summer.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2022This book solidifies my love for a Sara Madderson HEA rom-com!
Once again Sara knocked it out of the park because she knows exactly what we readers need; a great plot, solid writing, amazing banter, character development/depth and SPICE. But let’s talk about the spice….Sara always hits the best balance.
The ways in which Theo and Nora grow as individuals in their “fake” relationship set them up to question what they really want for their future. With a little magic from Sorrel Farm they might just figure that out and I am here for all of it!
If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading one of Sara’s books you will be instantly hooked and looking at her catalog for more!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2022This book was fantastic! I was so excited to read Nora’s story after I finished Falling Stars a couple of months ago and it did not disappoint! It was a little rough at first, I did not like Theo for a long time. Him and Nora just seemed way too different for it to ever work (of course it does, that’s the whole point) and Sara did a fantastic job of turning it around!
Fake dating to make your ex jealous and to make your family take you seriously? I’m in. Opposites attract? I’m in. The guy totally falls first? I’m in.
I LOVED how much Theo changed once he knew how good Nora was for him. It took him a little bit, less time than Nora, but once he did he was gone. He knew what he wanted and he was going to do whatever it took to get it. All while trying to respect her wishes because he didn’t ever want to push her. Once he really started falling for Nora, I was IN. He is rough around the edges but he was totally soft for Nora and he wanted to be better and wanted to be what she deserved.
Nora was also wonderful. She was too wrapped up in what she thought her life should be. And refused to see anything but that. And that was super frustrating, especially once Theo really started to try to show his real feelings. But once she finally gave in and let go a little everything was so good. They were exactly what the other needed!
Sara also writes wonderful extended epilogues and I am GRATEFUL. I am such a sucker for a (well written) epilogue!
I also loved seeing all the old characters! (I haven’t gotten around to reading any of the other books expect Falling Stars, but There are just so many books in the world people). The world she’s written is so wonderful! I cannot wait to catch up! AND she’s starting another connected series which I’m very excited about.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023I had so many feelings reading this beautiful fake relationship story! Theo and Nora are intelligent and successful but couldn’t be more different. Theo is wild, free with his affections, and a huge disappointment to his family. Nora is the levelheaded wedding planner who’s pining for the stable businessman who dumped her for another woman. Together, they hatch a plan to fake a relationship to get what they both think they want. Well, we all know how these things end. But it’s the getting there that’s the wild ride! And the Happily Ever After is absolutely one of the best ones I’ve ever read! I adored everything about this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2023I loved this book. It was sweet and steamy and built on my absolute favorite book, Falling Stars. I loved these characters, especially Theo and his growth. He was one of my favorite leading men.
Sara does such a great job developing flawed characters that you root for and want the best for. It’s truly a gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bridget Jones Fans will love this book..
Fans of Bridget Jones will love this book. This was the first one I have read by this author and it had me searching for more immediately after finishing it. Now that I've read some of her earlier works, it's clear that her talent is developing with each book she pens because the Sorrel Farms series doesn't measure up to this one. There is a lot of promise here though and the fact that she's improved so much from one book to the next tells me that it's only going to get better from this point on. I loved the characters in this book...I was rooting for all of them, Even though I don't normally like a lot of cutesy friend scenes or characters from other books popping in here and there, it didn't bother me here. I didn't find myself fast forwarding like I normally would through those parts. Overall- a really fun read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Theo and Nora 😍
This is a brilliant 'fake dating' romance. Nora wants to win back her ex and Theo wants to gain his family's approval. They had a brief interaction at University but 10-years later they appear to want very different things but the opportunity to help each other out falls at a perfect time. Theo becomes determined to unlock Nora's wilder side - and when she finally can take it no more, the 'benefits' of their situation begin and it is hot!! But their feelings begin to develop, in the way they help each other and respond to each other in banter and at more intimate moments. The inner narrative of them both throughout is honest and funny and incredibly sexy. I was routing for the leap of faith to get the HEA and they did not disappoint!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book
I liked the book but got increasingly annoyed at the way the characters spoke. I live in London and we do not speak like that, especially in the upper class. Other than that, the book is interesting, character growth is there and the smut is on point.
