Black (Wings Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,274 ratings

"I was the weak link in the chain, and the best I could do was surround myself with forces of the good. It would increase my chances of survival. But I couldn't replace Adam; not the way Ben meant. My heart was full of Adam's memory. There was little space to fit anyone else in." After Adam’s death, Claire has to readjust to life. School, her job at the library and then there is still an angry demon out there seeking revenge for her escape... When she thinks it can’t get any worse, unexpected help steps in and she finds herself yet in another dilemma. Can she open her heart for someone new? Black is the second book in The Wings Trilogy. --- Praise for Black: „She’s done it again! Angelina J. Steffort has written a must-read sequel to „White“, and once again, she takes her readers on a dark, twisted and utterly romantic journey. It’s a brilliant, engaging and utterly heartbreaking addition to the supernatural romance genre, brimming with Steffort’s signature dark touch. Read this book - and re-descover why you fell in love with Claire Gabriel’s epic journey in the first place.“ (Toni Weiss, Creative Partner & director @ Little Lights Studio) --- About the Author "Chocolate fanatic, milk-foam enthusiast and huge friend of the southern sting-ray. #1 i really can't stand teenage girls, its true they are selfish and inconsiderate....but when reading books...I want fiction, I want her to be a hero, be decisive, this girl is driving me crazy. Oh shes selfless when it comes to her sister....but she continues to mess with the future of her guardian angel, now she's messing with Ben...i love both brothers so i couldnt care less which one she picks...but for the sake of my sanity pick someone and oh stop getting yourself in trouble...your angels life depends on it you self lil twat! Sigh...rant over, while I don't like claire, i love the story, so it keeps me going.

Reading the first book in this series, White, was a trial. This book was better, more hopeful, and there is a marked improvement in the character of the heroine. I'm hopeful that the rest of the series will continue to challenge me and the main characters. White equaled despair; Black equals hope.

Alright, this is book 2 in the Wings series. After the heartbreaking ending in the 1st book and the crazy, unexpected epilogue, I had to download and try it. I wonder where this story goes from where it ended in the last book.

Jade, her guardian Angel, starts the prologue with his sweet presence in her hot mess life. This book is about her learning to live again with the missing pieces of her soul and love. It is rather depressing and very saddening. They're a plot twist I didn't see coming for you.
This book is about Claire and Jaden recovering, learning, and fighting back against the darkness. Still, their friendship and his paranormality don't play into the paranormal romance storyline. It is just an extended conversation with no rhyme or reason so far.

This gets twisted when we finally get the monotonous storyline. The angels and demons, good and bad story parts, are in full force, and now she makes silly decisions. Claire is genuinely unconditionally in love, but she is also not very smart. The author is all "warm bodies "on us with the demon reincarnation. From tormentor and demon to ghostly and loving Adam is running the gamut in this story. And now we see a mainly changed version of him. He has become the villain with a heart.

I'm happy that Claire is happy again and has her beloved back despite the past traumas, but it seems too good to be true. The author does get the tropes of danger, touch her and die, and the epic love right in this book. But Adam and Claire can't replace the unique and everlasting Twilight saga. This series is advertised as like it, and while it is a decent long-winded, slow-burning read, it doesn't captivate you the same way. Most of this story is about the relationship between a human and her guardian Angel, with the focus on Jaden more than Adam.

The end of this book confirms my theory that this story progresses to more about Jaden and Claire than Adam and Claire. The supernatural and the human falling in epic love and battling all odds were the hooks for me to continue reading. Now that the writer has moved past that storyline, I am no longer interested in carrying any further in this series. Overall, it isn't great but a good read, but some chapters drag on. This could have been better, but it isn't the worst I have read.

This book was even more captivating than the last. Twists and turns at every angle that kept me guessing until the end. I no longer know where my loyalties lie within these characters. I feel like a part of the story, like I am watching family through these pages. What an exciting and wonderful read. Cannot wait for the next installment of the Wings Trilogy. If you have not read it please start with White, the first of the wings trilogy.

Had to give it four stars, the same as the first book, because there were so many grammar and punctuation mistakes.
As far as the plot, story, and whatnot... It was a great read. I finished it in just over 24 hours. Very captivating. I'm looking forward to reading the third book, and I plan on reading everything from Adam's perspective when I'm done with Claire's. Great books :3

Thank you for this series!

This is the second book of the trilogy, the story continues as odd and indescribable things happen. Answers are seeked as angels fall demons rise and deep connections stir up pain, love and memories.
A good book, but must read boom 1 first.
