    Wow, for a novella, this one sure packed a lot of punch. This story was full of life, love, and emotion. The opening in this one had me holding back tears. I really enjoyed that Hayden and Trent started out as best friends. Watching their love grow, seeing the care between the two, it made the transition when they started exploring their kinks more believable. Most of the story was pretty realistic. I did not see that ending coming though. It was a bit out there but still within the realm of possibility. I think this would have made an amazing novel. I would have loved to have read more about their lives together as they grew up and seeing how they grow as they move forward with their new lives. Also, some closure with their parents would have been nice. Not necessarily having everyone get along, because I just don't think that would fit this story. But to just know what happens with them would be interesting. I really enjoyed this story, so my only complaint is that it was too short.

    Going against crowd on this one. Sorry.
    I am excited to read “Friends, Lovers, Family” by this author. But then I found I was missing this piece (get it? HA) and happily dove in to the remaining story.
    These poor kids. Grandma, cafeteria worker and each other (well maybe a hotel clerk or two) are the few who want these boys to prosper. Parents, teachers, etc all believe the life of trailer park is all boys can hope for.
    (Side Note: why is it that trailer parks have such cliched stories? Author is better than that).
    Won’t go into a bunch more plot review others do it better.
    But, these boys don’t get second book. Nope, one plot twist and lives go another way and their story is done. I was dumbfounded—author seems to thrive with multi book format, but this is just the one. I am certain author could have fleshed the story out more and given these boys a real happy ending and not just a happy couple of pages.
    If you want author’s best work pick up the “Pieces” saga. Those boys get their happy ending and then some.
    Also, I gotta find this college and become a professor!!

    What can I say? I really liked this book. It's a bit slow at the beginning but it explains how Trent and Hayden meet and grow up together. Finding your soul mate in that early age is rare. I thought the ending a bit over the top but why not give those boys, growing up against all odds to men forging their future, a little windfall. Good read.

    Trent and Hayden's story will have you tearing up from all the emotions: of course pain, fear and anxiety but best of all from cuteness, happiness and LOVE! The overwhelming love these two young boys (the story begins when they are 8 years old) have for each other in the midst of the tragedy that is life around them is amazing. Then Shaw/MA continues their tale showing us the innocence of young teenage puppy love and its growth into fully appreciated love by the time they both turn 18! It's hard to think of these two being only 18 years old with the maturity they both have but their challenging younger lives gave them reasons to grow up fast.

    Although the story, if broken down to its skeleton, is a fairy tale, it is so well written and all the little corners are filled in so completely that you will believe it is real and the glow you will feel after finishing will stay with you for a long, long time! Bravo, my dear - another gem in your crown - thank you for sharing with us!

    I absolutely loved this book, and my favourite part is while they are still kids. Trent is so sweet and understanding. Using what he's heard his grandmother say, to comfort Hayden when he's still too young to know what goes on.
    And it's done perfectly, depicting how a child's mind works. I fell in love with this book.

    By the time the boys finally reached eighteen they had been in a longer relationship than most, and reading about how they handle the shit hand that life have dealt them is emotional.

    There's so many parts in this book that I loved, Hailey in his delight over his dresses, the way he was swaying to make his dress swing with him, it was so easy to picture.
    And the comfort and calm Trent got from taking care of his Hailey and just watching him play and forget the world. They were lovely and fireworks together.
