Worth Saving: A novel Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 33 ratings

A captivating story of a young woman grasping for the value of her existence in a world where she’s been cast aside.
This is the quest confronting Courtney, a brilliant young African American woman who is the subject of this contemporary, uplifting tale.
After her first year at a prestigious university, she dazzled her professors, but this has no impact on her. Coming from a childhood of abuse and neglect, she is moved by only one person, Sean, her high-school love.
She plans to become a doctor, and Grayson University offers her abundant opportunities rarely afforded to African American women. However, Sean demands that she turn her back on the open doors and return to her hometown.
Unwilling to lose him, she sees no other choice.
This leads her down a path of disastrous choices struggling to hang on to him. He ultimately abandons her for another woman, leaving behind a toddler and a baby on the way.
Now a college drop-out and single mom, Courtney descends into a destructive emotional state, seeking to end her own suffering while making certain the baby girl she's carrying never draws breath: preventing her child from becoming her.
God, whom she doesn't believe in, steps in, saves her life, and restores her dreams.
Follow her journey through the victories and pitfalls of her Christian life walking by faith while making missteps along the way.
This story is for those who love to see the impossible made possible and know it’s never too late, and we’re never too low for God to turn us into a miracle.
The work is fiction, but the message isn’t.

Sean was a selfish, spoiled ,narcissistic man that didn’t care about anything or body. Courtney had a rough childhood, but came out on top despite all that she endured. I like the ending.

This was quite an interesting read and I kept coming back for more which is why I found it compelling. The twists and turns in the storyline were many. I found myself wishing the author had chosen to go more into the relationship between Courtney and Ricky. I was quite pleased that although the author had me thinking Courtney was going to end up with Sean, I am glad she chose to hear God and marry Michael. A story of forgiveness and redemption. I enjoyed the book.

What an amazing book. I couldn't put it down! The characters are well developed in a way that automatically draws you in. Every young lady can learn a lot from Courtney's experience as this is the narrative for far too many young women. I'm anxious to dive into part 2 because I MUST find out if Sean will allow Courtney to really experience the level of happiness she deserves.
