With the Duke's Approval (Ducal Encounters Series 1 Book 2) Kindle Edition
Lady Annalise Sheridan, sister to the Duke of Winchester, embarks upon her second season determined to attract Clarence Vaughan, the Earl of Romsey. But her efforts are interrupted when she is abducted from a society ball.
Annalise outwits her captors, leaving Clarence and her brothers to establish the reasons behind her abduction while she redoubles her efforts to make Clarence fall in love with her. Easier said than done. He is a slave to duty and doesn’t have the remotest idea how to relax. Anna sets about trying to change that situation, unwittingly causing more problems than she actually resolves.
Can two such diametrically opposed characters ever find happiness together…

About the author

I’m a British author, brought up on the Isle of Wight and share my life with a handsome rescued Spanish Podenco called Markos.
I’ve had over one hundred books published, ranging from Regency romance, (my first love), to contemporary women’s fiction and marine crime mysteries.
When not writing I walk miles, make half-hearted attempts to retain flexibility by attending yoga classes, read other people’s tomes…oh, and I’m on a one woman mission to keep the wine trade profitable!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2016This is the second book in this series and once again the Author does a great job..
This story is about ..Clarence and Annalise together they are just perfect. One is so lively while the other keeps his feelings at bay.
the reader becomes enchanted with how what you thought was the right move by Annalise turned into an "Oh No " moment.
while at a party Clarence takes Annalise out on the terrace even tho it is freezing cold out she remembers Lady St John told her about her thick shawl
so with that in mind they are engaging in conversation and get interrupted by one of Lord Romsy's men
Annalise wonders toward the end of the terrace to giver him some privacy
and finds herself going head over feet off the bannister , a dark sack being put over her head and whisked away to be ???
well she does escape but I shan't tell you everything ..(smiling) you must get the book and read her Harrowing escapade
I found myself waiting for something to go wrong yet hoping that everything would go right.
The characters (Family ) are so likable that you want a story for each of them.
I really liked that "The Duke" is a very personable man and that he respects each of his siblings personalities.
He doesn't judge or make assumptions without hearing all the facts.
Annalise on the other hand is such a feisty and intelligent woman and doesn't wait for life to happen to her but decides to take it by horns
and live it to the fullest. She has set her eyes and Heart upon Lord Romsy..
Clarence is so busy being a diplomat that even though he sees what Annalise is doing for him ...and yet it still takes him by surprise.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and eventually I hope to read the rest of the series to find out what happens to the rest of the family, especially the Duke.
Highly recommend this series even tho I have only read the first 2 books...

- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2016It's the second book in the series, I haven't read the first and yet had no trouble getting into the story without feeling like I was missing anything. The things I really liked were a strong h that could not only think for herself, but help herself. I'm so tired of reading about supposedly strong women who become weak the minute the H comes into the picture. Also I felt that the author was true to the regency time period. The writing was well done and kept my interest the whole way through. The only thing that kept this from being a five star book was I felt the characters were a little underdeveloped. I would definitely recommend for a nice light, beach read. ( Copy was provided for an honest review.)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2016What a lovely story, I found this family just as enchanting as some of the other family stories I have read before.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2016Although this is the second book in the series, it is the first book by Wendy Soliman' s I have read. It will not be the last. I love a story with action, intrigue, villains, and of course romance. With the Duke' s Approval has all of these. The action starts right away when Lady Annalise Winchester (the Duke' s sister) is taken from the ball she is attending. Lord Clarence Romsey, a diplomat working for the Foreign Office blames himself for her kidnapping. They were together on the terrace when his attention was diverted by his secretary. Why was she taken? Who is behind it? What will happen to her, will she survive? How does all of this relate to what Clarence is working on? Will Annalise, Clarence and her family be able to work out their differences? Finding the answers to these questions and more is a tale worth reading. This is a very enjoyable read that holds the attention from beginning to end. I plan on reading more of this series. I really like this family and wish to see what kind of trouble the rest of them can get into.
I received this ebook from the author for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2016The highly protected sister of a duke finds herself unexpectedly attracted to an earl during a ball. She sets her cap for him but he resists mightily despite a strong attraction for her from him. A diplomat, the earl is determined to remain proper and unattached. Meanwhile the heroine energetically pursues him while dismayed by her lack of success. The plot includes a villain, a kidnapping, an intrepid heroine, and a brave and clever hero earl. The other characters are believable and interesting. I enjoyed the book as the writing is well done and fun to read. The heroine is quite young and seems rather immature for most of her romance, but in the end she grows up quite a bit. I had to stop reading a few times as I got frustrated with both of them. But the end was quite satisfying. I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book for an honest review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ennoyable
I have started rereading the books in my library, and have become quite fussy. If I am not interested by the time I have got to page 4, I don't bother with it. This one started well, so I stayed with it. There are the usual characters - the young, intelligent, impetuous lady, the man she has fallen in love with, the boring unwanted suitor, the villain, and how she becomes unwittingly involved in a dastardly plot. She also decides that, although she loves him to pieces, she would not be the right wife for him, so she has to reject him for his sake, without thinking what he might want. Of course, it comes right in the end, but you wonder how she could be so intelligent but blind at the same time. Enjoyable, but a somewhat well worn plot.
