Cold Feet Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 712 ratings

Best friends snowed in together. When the heat rises, will they get cold feet?

Getting snowed in at a remote cottage in Wales with someone he’d fancied for ages isn’t exactly how Sam expected to spend Christmas. His feelings for Ryan are pointless. Ryan’s straight—or so he thought.

Until now, Ryan’s kept his feelings for Sam buried. Why ruin a friendship over what might only be gay experimentation? Playing it cool seems safer, until a cold snap makes sharing body heat vital. In their Welsh safe haven, anything seems possible.

As Ryan’s reserve melts away, Sam wants more than stolen kisses under the mistletoe. But a sudden thaw means making decisions. They could face the New Year together—unless one of them gets cold feet.

I absolutely loved this heartwarming, holiday-themed, friends-to-lovers story! I haven't had the opportunity to read much during the last few years and I'm relatively new to the MM romance genre but I am loving it so far. As I was reading, I realized just how much I've missed stories that are not based in the US. I loved the dialogue and easy banter between the heroes, the pitch-perfect description of the setting as well as the realistic depiction of all of the characters. The thoughts, emotions, self-doubt and confusion that both Sam and Ryan experience as their easy friendship gives way to physical attraction was brilliantly portrayed.
Sam is an openly gay young man who is secretly in love with his straight best friend, classmate and housemate, Ryan. Sam himself admits that it's a cliche but what he doesn't know is that Ryan has feelings for him too. Ryan just hasn't figured out yet exactly what those feelings are or what they mean. When a series of unfortunate events leads to the two of them having to spend the Christmas holiday alone together in a cold but cozy little cottage in Wales, the practical need to keep each other warm provides the opportunity for the two of them to explore their true feelings. Still, they hesitate to divulge the extent of those feelings to each other and when their plans to stay an extra night at the cottage are cut short, uncertainty and misunderstandings threaten not only their new-found intimacy but their treasured friendship as well.
What more is there to say but, well done! I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I feel completely let down by this book. I was so excited to read it based on other reviews. The good things about the book are that the writing was good, no grammatical errors that I can remember and the story was sweet and had potential. What I didn't like about the book was the way it ended. Way tooooo soon. I mean, you have two gorgeous guys who are best friends and roommates, stuck in a cabin in a remote area with NOTHING to do, they are secretly in love with other, there's sexual tension between them and all I get is a weird first kiss, and a blow job experiment? They reveal their feelings to each other (it was a bit anticlimactic) and you would think that the kiss they share after that would be sooooo great and bone melting but instead they left the privacy of the bedroom to go kiss in the middle of a New Year's Eve party and then the story went immediately to the next morning? with them waking up together and then ended there? I thought I must have accidentally skipped a few pages on my tablet or something but nope. I mean this could have been such a sweet and beautiful story! I would have liked to see them consummate the relationship and what life was like for them after declaring their love for each other.

Another solid hit from Jay Northcote. After several books, I know what to expect when I see her as an author...great fun characters, a cute story, and a HEA with just the right amount of angst. I love it when Jay makes you want to grab one of the characters and yell: "Just talk about it!!!!" But she makes you stay with the story and feel out the great part you know if coming.

This a very sweet short novel with the two main characters stuck in a cabin in Wales due to snowfall over Christmas....OK, I can hear your brain just imagining the scene. And everything you imagined and more is described perfectly. There is a great supporting character in the form of an older lady in a nearby house named Mari. She invited the guys to have Christmas dinner with her and her feline companions.

One of my favorite things about this story is the limited amount of sexual scenes. Realistically, if you delve into the thoughts of these characters, there should not be a lot of physical contact...the relationship is too new. She describes it perfectly. She allows Ryan to come out in a perfect way. The countdown to midnight on New Year's is...well simply perfect. I will definitely be rereading.

Loved it! I love friends-to-lovers stories, and out for you stories, and college boy stories... this hits all my favs! Sam and Ryan were too cute, and I was so pulling for them to make the relationship last after leaving their snowbound cottage. And I loved Mari - what an awesome lady. Another reason Jay Northcote is an auto-buy author for me.

What a sweet story! Two college guys head to a roommate's parents cottage in Wales, where they are to meet up with said roommate and his girlfriend. Right after they arrive, the roommate's car breaks down and by the time it gets fixed, it has snowed so much the roads are blocked and Ryan and Sam are stuck together over Christmas. Sam is gay and has had a crush on Ryan, his straight best friend for a long time. Not wanting to ruin the friendship and seeing how many girls Ryan has "dated", Sam keeps his feelings quiet. That is, until something changes when the two men are stranded alone together. This book is really a wonderful, angst-free light romance that kleft me with a smile on my face and a warm, fuzzy feeling. These guys are really likeable and their emerging feelings for each other remind me of the first crush I had way back when. The only fault I find with "Cold Feet" is that it was way too short. Highly recommended!

Characters were enjoyable, I liked their connection, and shared bed is always a fun trope.

It does read like sort of every other Northcote I've read though. Gay Guy had crush on his supposedly straight BFF, who's not so straight after all. Well written, but I do feel like all of her books are sort of the same formula, and I'd love some originality.

Sam and Ryan, friends from university, are supposed to meet up with friends to spend a few winter days in a cabin before going home for Christmas. But snow comes early and before their friends can drive up, Ryan and Sam are snowed in. With no sign of the snow letting up they prepare to stay over Christmas, just the two of them. It will be fine, even if Sam has had feeling for his straight best mate for a while now. As the days go by, the atmosphere becomes more intimate and Ryan isn’t so sure what he thought he wanted is what he really wants anymore.
Can’t go wrong with Jay Northcote and this is sweet and very well written Christmas novel, making me want to curl up on the sofa with cup of hot chocolate next to me, and ideally a Christmas tree in sight.
I loved both characters and the development of their relationship.
    Definitely recommended.

Once again I'm reading one of my favorite tropes, stranded in a cabin/cottage because of snow. This is a shortish story of two young men, collage pals, one gay and one supposedly straight, which leads us into another favorite of mine, gay for you. It's a sweet, slightly angsty tale as these two adorable young men let reality hit them, with good and bad results, a lovely, cozy read.
